I still remember when my friends recommended me this game because it was fun and we didn't care about competition. Years have passed, and i'm still here, playing this game, getting better and better.
well my first impression (A.K.A. today) was "Well, here we go I guess...man you're so fucking fast, how you do it" the guy replies "watch Reach montages" Shortly afterwards I decide to why not try to do what the pro guy who just entered does. I didn't precisely do the grapple spam but it was enough so I could hold the momentum with a slide. A slide. Basically I wad spamming a double jump and holding the slide button after each grapple and it kind of worked out? I'm still so confused today even after all that, speeding through and sometimes failing at some slopes XD.
Nice. And here I thought I was alright after playing my buddies the other night. Nice to know there's a lot of depth in the racing techniques. Thx for the video.
i cannot believe that i was actually about to avoid this vid because i hate guides, just the way that people do them. They just find so many ways to make it unhelpful. i just reluctantly clicked on this to give it a chance and i am stunned. the points are so efficiently structured, illustrated, explained, demonstrated, ordered, etc. this guide, to me, is a beauty of a piece of informative writing. Truly one of the only guides i'll walk away from satisfied that i've legitimately learned something. Reminds me of the recently started channel, "Melee Moments"; this guide and his vids both are admirably effective for learning and understanding. i know its late, but thanks for making this video
its been so long since i uploaded this video and as the creator i always spotted the mistakes and thought how inefficient tutorial it was, but your words really brightened my day and gave me motivation to do more in life, thank you!
I'm a beginner at this game and watching pros are just eye candy to me, thank you for the tutorial dude it gave me so much things to keep in mind when playing the game, also great video!
I started a little over a month ago and i love the game and the community! Every time i go to a game with randoms they wait for me and help me get better even tho they would win me so easily! This tutorial was amazingly well done and incredibly helpful. I didn’t understand the grapple spam thing but now i think i get it, thank you
Oohh same for me! I started this week and in some races, when they noticed I'm far behind them or when I have issues climbing, they wait for me. One of them even helped me in the chat section and recommended me this video. Great community!
I'm bronze almost silver and I like to consider myself a little above average but honestly I learned more from this video than id like to admit. Great video!!
Didn't expect this game to be so complex xD Just got it 2 days ago and I was able to beat the first character in unfair mode. Been losing to the second guy on the first map since. I can't even get more than 1 win against him, Came here to improve and I think I will surprise my friends when we play together afterwards hahahahah thanks my dude, ill become too good for them.
THANK YOU! I've been trying to figure out how to play this game. Everything I found is just people going. "Oh. Just maintain your momentum. Oh, just get gud." No one ever explained HOW to do that. No one was ever explaining the fundamentals. I feel like I actually know HOW to play this game now.
I discovered this game by watching TinaKitten and thought it was such a fun physics game. Well, apparently I've been playing this game not quite right with the power of Physics. Nice tutorial! I understood every explanation and I'm very excited to practice these techniques. Thanks!
@@incursiosr9471 this is a solid video man, but I still don't understand how these SR videos get so many views and when I get into the game it has "200" players on it loool
The players come and go but views stay, and i think even if you don't play the game, you could watch it, i remember watching lots of sr videos when i was taking a break from the game
i already had a pretty decent understanding of the mech in this game as well as routes, but one thing i didn't quite understand yet was drop grappling and how best to use it. after watching this, though, i feel like I'll be able to implement it correctly. thanks boss
This video has been helpful twice so far, when I first got into this game, and again for helping me remember this stuff now that I'm getting back into it.
Most of the tips you can learn by simply experimenting and watching other people play (the tryharding pros that get into your room). It took me about 60 to 70 hours of gameplay to learn them by myself... I just discovered your video, and I learned two new things: The little slope on the floor before dropping from a platform (I thought it was actually meant to hinder you and it was useless) and that boosting prevents you from bouncing off a slope. Great video, dude! After knowing all of this, my advice is focus on two things: consistency and map knowledge. Once you're consistent with the techniques and know a map very well, no one can beat you xD
Yeah my friend randomly bought it for me and it was so much fun i have been playing this for the last 2 months! This tutorial was also very helpful for me
@@paratoxianvalThere are other games like SpeedRunners??? The only similar game to SpeedRunners I know is - not even a game - a game mode in Super Smash Bros. 3DS.
Now do a Guide for golden skins lol but seriously this guide has helped me a lot on my journey to beating the unfair AI in story mode and other people online thank you. (I know this is a 5 year old video and all but had to say thanks for this masterpiece)
Heya! I've been wanting to play this game for years but never had the money to buy it and now I have it and am trying to learn everything I can and put it into gameplay. Thank you so much for this video! Is there any chance I can get the names of the songs used in the video by the way? It would be greatly appreciated!
I have 130 hours and i've been using all of these techniques for at least the last 30 hours, yet for some inexplainable reason I watched the whole thing
Thanks for the tips, helped me beat the first unfair story level! I have 3.3 hours playing this game as of writing this, so I think I'm tracking alright 😄btw what is better, keyboard or controller?
I’m dominating all my friends to the point where it’s not even fun any more. I can’t lose and they can’t beat me. Every now and then I let one slide but I reign supreme ruler
For higher than Bronze, I think there's a few extra things you need to know, like how to down-boost, jump off upward slopes in the floor, how to soar up shafts, how to train and learn maps etc etc. I think a lot of what separates higher players from Bronze in terms of technique is to do with optimal boost usage. In particular knowing when to boost downwards in order to get a really fast up-swing.
Lately I've been experimenting a lot with boosting into horizontal ceilings in order to drop faster, then combine that with an upswing and drop grapple. Basically like swing up towards ceiling, boost + jump into ceiling, boost down-wards, swing up, drop-grapple. So fun!
I also notice people don't boost off the sides of platforms anywhere near enough. Most people will try to jump + boost off a platform, which is slower than simply boosting off the side.
This was the first vid I came to when I was bad at speedrunners, was around beginner league, after this video I was playing bronze league and matching with silvers with only around 80 hours of speedrunners
Just got this game a few days ago and there's one or two of these guys in every quick match lmao. I don't have time to memorize every corner of 20 maps so that I can survive for 10secs against these vets
Thanks for the 100k everyone!

Love that you used your own map to sum up the points near the end. Loved the tutorial too, you're great dawg.
Taco_G_ aww, Thanks ^^
