@@syrius20 a Metric Tonne is 1,000 kilograms and for this reason is always referred to specifically as a "Metric Tonne" and spelled differently than the commonly referred to "Ton" (aka 20 hundredweight... 20 x 100 = 2,000) which, when 'Ton' is used colloquially refers to 2,000 pounds. The International System of Units recognizes the Metric Tonne for the metric system. Where the confusion lies is that the video, as presented, does not specify 'Metric Tonne" just Ton. Now, this could easily be chalked up to an oversight if the metric system was what was referred to when they discussed all the other measurements, such as the size and length of the snakes, etc. but they didn't. They constantly referred to in in the standard system of measurement (i.e. min of 42 feet, up to 50 feet) instead of meters and even went on to use Pounds when referring to weights later on (i.e. the Croc & turtle). Therefore Joshua is not incorrect in pointing out the misleading inconsistency and why one would assume that, since they were talking in feet and pounds, then the equivalent 2,000 ton was their intent. I think that if they had just referred to everything in either standard or metric, or simply stated 'metric tonne' when discussing the weight of the snake, since they were using standard for measurement, it would have avoided the misunderstanding altogether. Nonetheless, they did not and thus, within the established context without clarification, it created confusion and error upon receipt of the message by varying members of the audience.

Reptiles never stop growing. If it could live long, it could grow big. There are some interesting water canopy theories that explain how animals and people could have lived way longer than they do now.
Snakes terrify me so much I have a whole house away because a snake somehow got inside. I seen the snake, I ran out the door and said "It's free real estate bro".
Imagine if these were here today. Like there's so much to think about in the fact of.. we would be so desensitized from it because of it being a normal animal in our everyday lives but also makes you wonder if they were still alive how would us as humans have adapted with that? Would we have been the same size and would've had snake proof housing and communities? Would we be a bit bigger through adaptation thus evening things out? Would we even be in any danger because were mere snacks to these ancient giant? There's so many things to account for with no easy answers but its still a crazy theoretical that I enjoy thinking about to often.
it wouldn't be able to survive today. Our atmosphere is wildly different today than it was when this snake was roaming the earth. For starters, the oxygen levels are a fraction of what they were back then. A snake of that size would never be able to survive today.
Well. The fact that we don't really eat snakes culturally has more to do with the fact that they're not worth it. The amount of meat you get on a snake is usually very little and you need to pick it out of the little bones. Now places where anacondas naturally occur usually eat snake merely because it's more rewarding at that size. A snake this large I doubt it would be much of a threat to humans. Early humans maybe, but not after we started making bronze and iron weapons. It would most likely be hunted and/or farmed for food. Snakes that size could not have been very fast (Judging by the speed difference in an anaconda and say a cobra). That said. We get pythons here in my country but I've only ever once or twice heard of someone eating it. So who knows. But a snake that size would definitely feed a hungry family very well for a good long time. It would have to be very strategic hunting though. Humans generally do not have a very good track record with swamps.
Unfortunatly it would be very hard to eat since it is almost all Muscles, and i would not be worth the risc of hunting one since they would mistake boats for preys
I wonder why the narrator cited 1500 lbs at one point but as 2 tons numerous times? Whoever wrote his script doesn't know basic math & the narrator himself didn't catch that mistake either?

@@johncooper7663 In the beginning the original SAVIOR was the religion of the SNAKE in order for Moses to frighten the Pharoah to free the jews he changed his staff into a SNAKE not into a Green bottle of Coca-Cola which would have been frightening also.
“Run you fools.” Cmon man. The quote’s got three words.
I am glad that there is proof that they get that long
because every time I accidently found a snake I swore that they were that long.
They are aware a ton is 2000 pounds not 1000 correct? They call it a 2 ton snake multiple times but then say it could weigh up to 2500pounds
A kilogram is 2.2 pounds, and 1000 kilograms makes a Ton. Just saying...
Carlos Andres Junay Pulido yeah but the narrator clearly says 2500lbs. Just saying....
Kilograms aren’t pounds....

Very fascinating! 🤔
He got me when he said ,yes Ice Cube they do make snakes that big. That should have been his opening line. Hahaha haha
I can't imagine a snake as THICK as a school bus either..... that's just terrifying & crazy. Truly was a time, when animals ruled the world. 🙌
What a fascinating story! Thank you for all your hard work
I wouldn’t survive long. I would most likely see a titanaboa and then proceed to shit myself to death.
I think I'd be both scared and excited... I don't know why people wouldn't be excited about colossal creatures. We still have some nowadays and the world hasn't ended.
"The size of washington d.c but less dirty." 🤣

Thanks for the on screen measurement conversions
I just saw a tortoise that's over 100 years old on Jayprehistoricpets channel it's so big and beautiful. Great video 👍👍

More weird animal history please
Imagine this
These scientists and mining people were on their way to these mines when suddenly they were transfered back 60 mya and are in the same spot. Just the time...is past. Way back in past. And these creatures are....alive and nearby
Loved this! Only… 2500 pounds isn’t 2,5 tonnes. More like just over 1 tonne. Still a monster!
Wow thats a Weird History :D ;D
I like the way scientist find a few bones and speculate away.

I find fossils every day in north America in southern Illinois coal mine. Sea snails, shells, ferns, trees, sulfur balls as well. I wish people wanted them.
Where? I want to get some
I'd take some suffer balls.

Titanoboa is the closest we get to an actual kaiju.
The last Kaiju.
Reptiles never stop growing. If it could live long, it could grow big. There are some interesting water canopy theories that explain how animals and people could have lived way longer than they do now.
This narrators voice keeps everything interesting.
This piano music is so incongruous when discussing monster snakes..
Snakes terrify me so much I have a whole house away because a snake somehow got inside. I seen the snake, I ran out the door and said "It's free real estate bro".
What's the punchline?
And here i am holding my noodler telling him one-time his kind ruled he seemed upset how far his people have fallen.
Gamera reference? okay, you've earned my sub
My daughter LOVES Dino Dana so she'll love this video.😉
Tell that to the Boys in the Bayou, that eat Gator, Snake, Alligator Snappers, Alligator Gar and anything else the swamp provides.
