This particular style really exhibit the "Siamese" influenced - during that era, especially with the faster paced and jerky movements. I'm glad that Khmer dancers have resorted back to the Khmer style, and no longer dance that way.
It has nothing to do with "purity", like how people believe it to be. The painting of the skin white like alabaster - was an emulation to look like the "Devas", because they were fair-skinned. The ancients wanted to portrayed themselves as those "shining ones", the bringer of knowledge and wisdom.
