Thanks for sharing the video, it’s great to see WLED’s effects on a nice long strip! I’m surprised that your cat didn’t start chasing the moving LED effects down the hallway ;)
do you need to connect the nodemcu ground with the psu ground because using external power? in case im powering up nodemcu using my powerbank or laptop while the led power using external. i dont wanna break the electronics :D
If you are using an external power supply then yes you need to make sure that the ground from the power supply is connected to the ground on the esp8266. If you don't then you will have a floating ground which will cause issues when you try to control the lights.
I used a buck converter from Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R4327RV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You can get it cheaper from Aliexpress but I wanted it faster.
You are correct. I used an esp8266 for running WLED to drive the LEDs. I think this was a NodeMCU based board that takes 5v input hence the buck converter.

Thanks for posting this video. Do you know of a way to get to these various macros and their configs, via DMX ?
Very nice . Where is the tutorial ?
Time to Burn the Latest WLED version on your ESP Board 😁😁
Nice Demo Though 👍👍
What controlar do you use?

Is there a 4th of July setting? Red/White/Blue?
There is an effect called "Colors Only" where you can set 3 colors. See this from WLED: kno.wled.ge/features/effects-palettes/
Has anyone got a link to the sort of power supply used here??
This is the one that I bought: www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07X52V9VS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

@@EliBenShoshan thankyou!
Can Motion Sensor added to start ?
Ca e add 4 motion sensor and start diferent sector of the led strip?
what board are you using connected to the PSU?

@@EliBenShoshan im confused why use a buck converter when the led strips are 12v and the psu is 12v?
i guess another q would be whats the board setup that the im guessing 8266 is connected to?

@@EliBenShoshan ok and the buck converter is under it? looks like the 8266 is plugged into another board?
:-)
Pesky Cat!
This video needs a seizure warning, oof 🤣
