I can tell you why Israel is so expensive. It's all the rich Americans who sold their mansions in Palm Beach and bought dirot (flats) in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. They have priced out native Israelis, not to mention middle class Zionist Americans. That's why Israelis know all Americans are rich. They have never met a poor American in Israel. The poor Americans all live in America. I spent a year at ridiculously inexpensive tuition at Hebrew U - 50 years ago! They needed Americans then. Now Israel is overflowing with rich Americans, and have priced out Americans like - like me. Can't afford to visit. However, I can afford to learn Hebrew songs on RUclips and read Hebrew poetry. All this can be accomplished at NO COST. I advise all the poor Americans who no doubt have a good knowledge of Hebrew to enjoy music and poetry of Israel here in the US. NBN advises us to move to the least desirable part of Israel, the south or Negev, endorsed by Ben Gurion but endured by the Ukrainians and Russians who have been dumped there as they arrived without money. Move there, advises NBN. NBN thinks all American Jews are stupid. And they helpfully advise you how many Americans speak English in Beer Sheva! I would not go to Israel to practice my English. It's practiced in the US. I'd improve my already fluent Ivrit, Hebrew.
