Invaluable advice. It took me years to figure the stuff out that the good Mr. Stoeger will tell you in less than five minutes watching a video. Pay attention. Ben Stoeger is the real deal.

It’s really embarrassing that I’ve never had a pistol that actually fit, but you don’t know what you don’t know. Thank you very much! it’s wild how much better I’ve got in just a month of watching/reading your stuff. Can’t wait to catch a class

Ergonomics are king. I have been saying it for a while now. A nice trigger can help, but honestly when it comes to a trigger the one thing I look for is the reset and overtravel.

I started hitting slide release with my weak hand a few months ago. Was worried I was doing things suboptimal even though it get faster and more effective. Glad to see that’s how stoeger does it

Why don't manufacturers offer more frontstrap options? I tend to have the problem of my fingers being long enough to interfere with my support hand real estate, but my trigger finger isn't long enouh to reach the trigger. Bigger backstraps solve one problem, but make the other problem worse.

Great advice, I have tried extended mag release and drop the mag thinking the mag is fucked up. Now knowing changing grip is ok, thank you

I think for people with thinner hands, the height of the beaver tail above the lower part of the trigger guard can result in a gap between the web of the hand and the beaver tail. Could affect recoil management.

Problem is the fatter you make the grip to give more space for your support hand, the more space your index finger must cover to get to the trigger.

There's an idea that you only get the fatter grip on one side (your support hand's) and keep your firing hand's grip thin. I know of one shop that offers this option.

I think that part about grip area might be my issue with my P10c or I'm just doing something wrong. Feels great in my right hand but when I try to squeeze with my support hand it pushes my strong side fingers forward messing with that grip. Also my support palm seems to sit right in the smooth untextured area of the grip between the side and back strap.

update: I switched to the large backstrap and that helped a lot despite having kinda small hands. (I was using medium)

Question: New Shooter New To Dryfire
During dryfire my firing hand is feeling lactic acid build up in my front deltoid, but not in my support hand side, is this normal from just holding the weight, or am I to tense?

@@pistolwizardATX 1 Week Mainly Elements but today just stepping back and forth over stick at different distances. But each time I dryfire I can feel lactic acid building up in my front delt but I do rest I due some reps rest more reps. But I do put effort in squeezing tight with support grip. You know just as you have described openly and book.
      Thanks.

@@TheRottenOneRepents It's probably just the weight of the gun if you're practicing draws. Give your body at least 2-4 weeks to acclimate. If you still suspect it, get a friend to feel each shoulder while you have the sights at your eye line to see if one shoulder is working harder than the other.

Is there a way to increase the distance between the beaver tail and the trigger? I find that most guns end up feeling too small in my hands. For pistols with adjustable or changeable back straps, it's usually not a problem. It's the ones that don't have adjustable back straps or grips that I don't know what to do with. Just sell it and find another gun?

What are you shooting? You might be able to swap or modify the trigger

    • @lostinthecarolinas

If the length of trigger pull is "too short," you might try shooting with the Power Crease of your index finger. So, if you try yo place the center of your index finger PAD on the trigger, let that idea go. Try placing the CREASE of the first finger joint on the edge of the trigger and see how this works for you. This is a revolver and 1911 hack used by multiple national PPC and Bullseye shooters. Good luck.
