- THE TEHACHAPI PASS by the La Mesa Model Railroad Club.
The La Mesa Model Railroad Club operates the Southern Pacific - Santa Fe Tehachapi Pass Layout. This exhibit is a highly accurate replica of Southern California’s busiest single track mountain railroad and is HO scale.
The Tehachapi Pass runs through the Tehachapi Range of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and is famous for the Tehachapi Loop, where because of the steep mountain grade the railroad was designed in a spiral loop. You can see this replicated on the mezzanine level of the Tehachapi layout.
Everything on this layout operates to scale. Including the types of trains run on the track, the times of operation and the speed.

This is commendable. I especially liked the slightly crooked telephone poles and wooden fence posts. And all the graffitti on the trains was awesome. Nice!
You should call your layout... The Uncanny Valley Railroad. The realism is phenomenal, the artwork for the backgrounds are unbelievable, the contrast, the colors, the detail are all beyond imagination. The realism is like an uncanny valley, where it looks real but there's something about it where you have to take a second or third look to see that it's just a model layout. Just fantastic.
Down to the graffiti on the cars, this is so well done. 30 years ago, I still remember visiting this museum and being in awe of the model railroads, with Tehachapi the centrepiece of it all. So great to revisit this, albeit virtually.
This is a great layout. I like the squeal of the train wheels on the rails. Makes it sound real.
Just as i remember it from my visit to Tehachapi from England in January 1997, this is one of the best videos of model trains i have see, even with the horns blowing in the wrong places, well done
I've never seen model railways filmed like this, incredible - almost like you're living in that miniature world!
Thank you very much!
I'm jealous! An amazing prototypical layout. Kudos to the Museum and its staff for a beautiful job well done!
I haven't seen so much detail in any mini rail vlogs.Amazed
This one is the best
Beautiful landscaping on that layout.
It's on my bucket list to see the real Tehachapi loop.
I remember when I was younger, my grandpa would take me here, and one day I got to drive one of the trains and see all of the behind the scenes stuff, and it was really cool.
Fantastic!
Many thanks!
Very nice video !!
Thank you very much!
So realistic, right down to the screeching of the wheels on the track
I still have my "You Should See the Trains in Our Basement" bumper sticker from when I lived in San Diego in the late 80s until 1992.

That's why trains are my favorite and love trains so much! This is why I called myself Conductor Gonzalez and a train boy too
Absolutely gorgeous layout.
I visit the San Diego Model Railroad Museum every chance I get when I’m home in theSan Diego area. The La Mesa Model Railroad Club HO scale layout is the nations very best HO scale layout.
You know what else I love? The Fullerton Train Station on Fullerton, CA
So real looking wow👍
Superbe réseau .😊Merci beaucoup pour le partage
👍👍👍
there are so many wonderful layouts, but this one stands out with realistic sound -very well done
Many thanks!
GOOD VIDEO
Thanks!
The sad thing is that the train sounds are ripped from other videos.
I think the real tricky part was getting the different land elevations correct
Tehachapi will never be the same with the roaring and smoking engines of the Southern Pacific. The railroad who originally built the line through the Tehachapi Mountains and the Loop.
It breaks my heart seeing all these BNSF trains and that ''yellow monster'' that stole the SP from us, on the Loop.
Awesome!!!!
This is a great video you done.
Thank you very much!
@@Need4Life Thank you and Thank you very much for replying to my comment. I would love if you could take a quick look at my page and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have a new video out now. Hope you like and share.
IT'S GREAT!!
Awesome!
Thanks!
Did you know that the public only sees about 1/4 of the entire layout
There is so much more to the layout then what you see
Nice 👍
Thanks
When I was little boy and very young, me and my family used to go to the train museum "The California State Railroad Museum" in Sacramento, CA
Beautiful layout! Can you tell me where I can get well cars that hold 53' contains? I'm in Philadelphia PA and there are hard to come by

That is exactly how a HO scale layout should sound when the train passes by you. How did you accomplish this ? I would like to know.
i would like to know too. is it video editing ?
Did someone add the sound recordings from real trains? Especially the screeching flanges from the 90’ cars😫
That scenery is just plain loco ( forgive the pun ) !
that looks Great! I'm on a bit of an american locomotive craze at the moment... Great vid!
Thank you!!!
This layout is incredible, I can only hope to make my layout with a fraction of the detail and accuracy.
Simply amazing!! A true work of art.
