    *Information about kina:*
kina populations become out of control, kelp forest can be entirely eaten away, leaving bare rocks, also known as Kina Barrens. Larval stages can feed on different species of unicellular algae in a size range between 5 and 50 µm, divers have been sent to regulate invasive kina population but so far they multiply faster than they can be eaten.

Sea urchins, and he's harvesting them because in large numbers as seen here, they can be environmentally devastating. They eat the roots of kelp beds and create barren zones of bare rock and coral.
Coincidentally sea urchin is considered a delicacy in many places, and can fetch both a tidy profit, and a fine meal. So for the people in the video, it's a win-win.
