I swear this show was so good, so many people wanna trash on it just because it's not exactly the same as the original, but I think it shouldn't be compared, it's an entirely different show with the only similarities being the characters and it should be viewed as separate.
If you ask me its BETTER than the original.
I've known trigun famous reputation in western fanbasw of anime but haven't got the chance to watch it. But now i've finished stampede and just done binging the 98 version, on my way to read the mangas.
I had to say narrative wise, stampede wins hands down. It's the exact same story but no fillers and they change the pacing and events but still true to the story of trigun.
Just like what the staff and the MANGAKA said on various occasions, stampede IS TRIGUN but taking a different approach in story telling, as they tried to appeal to both the new and old fans of the series. And after episode 12 with that grand finale i think it's safe to assume that studio orange nailed it.
Really hate on how some old fans just continously trash on the changes in the pacing of the story. When really the changes aren't even made by the studio the changes are made by the mangaka himself. Including the design changes of the characters needs his approval as well. This is the mangaka's work as well, but in a different light.
Really hope more people give this show a chance and enjoy it to the end. Bcs istg this show is a total ride that is totally underrated this season
The original anime has too much filler, and vash is too goofy also
I’m a massive fan of the original. When I first saw the trailer I was disappointed. CGI, new cheaters new designs i jsut had doubts. In my defense whenever has a CGI remake of a classic anime been good. But this show completely shocked me. It’s much more dark than the first which I like and knives is a way more justified villain. Absolutely loved it so excited for seasson 2. When it’s said and done this could rival the original.

Mad respect for Trigun in all it's Forms, Vash is the most respectable character ever tho he rarely succeds, that's what makes him more human than he'll never be

This anime just made me cry a lot of times by how funny and sad that it is. Im in love with Trigun 1998 and 2023, thats my favorite anime FOREVER! ❤
TRIGUN STAMPEDE 2023 is so good. Vash has always been one of my all-time favourite character, and this tribute, from the (Japanese) voice actors, to scores, to the character design, and editing - are all top notch.

Old one was based on daily life of vash the new one based on the story between vash and knives like more 1 line story based but in the end i like both one had good cgi with good soundtracks cant say story bad too on other hand old one is nostalagic and mostly comedy based so i really dont see an point to hate any of those 2

I love the 98 variation. I don't hate anything that is Trigun. Am open to whatever they bring. But I do like the classic as well. It's a classic and my favorite anime. I love that dude, Vash. I can relate a lot to him. Even personality wise. Then Wolfwood is a priest that tries. His name is wolf and a wood. His death is legendary. He dies in the church. Not throwing hate because as I said before. Am open. I trust they will make this great.

Really frustrating that i can't even go to an OST video without seeing tristamp fans feel the need to shit on the 98 anime, and people who love the 98 anime and who are unsatisfied with tristamp. Like, is that the only way you can express that tristamp is good? it's only good if you shit on the OG stuff? jesus christ, y'all are ruining Trigun as an IP and it's embarrassing. The OG fans have every right to be unsatisfied with tristamp because not only are there a lot of changes, they're INEFFECTIVE changes.
I personally think tristamp is the lowest on the totem pole (the manga being the best and the 98 anime following 2nd), but anytime i start coming around to enjoying it for what it is, i inevitably run into a tristamp fan being a little shit. Truly incredible.
I'm sorry that you have encountered those that hate on the original simply because this reimagining is out but we are not all like that.
Trigun was one of the first animes I ever watched and to this day, it still holds a special place in my heart but I have come to enjoy this new version also.
I'll never forget the hype of the final confrontation between Vash in Knives in the original as it made me glad to see Vash finally accept that he can't run from his past but finally accept it then move on. It was cathartic to watch that as I loved his journey.
This new one (and I apologize as I have not read the manga) has a reimagining to it and though it was a bit messy at the beginning I came to enjoy it at the end as things tied together especially with the July Incident.
To me, I refuse to say which one is better as to say that is to do an injustice to both the 98 one and this one. I loved the first and look forward to seeing where this one takes me.
Anyway sorry for the long winded comment 😅 but I just wanted to say that not all of us feel the need to crap on either though instead feel happy that we get another series of Trigun regardless.
Also if Nightow has placed his blessing behind the studio of this version and praises the direction they are taking with it, then I'm willing to see it out based on that recommendation alone.
tbh the 98 anime is a classic, i friggin love it, but i feel like more of the newer audiences might have found it difficult to get into it considering how much of it was "filler". I don't blame them since i got into the 98 anime 3 years ago after discovering the manga, and ngl it was hard to sit and watch for the first few episodes, but on the other hand all that "filler" episodes helps the audience to come to like the characters more and to flesh them out.
But i have to applaud the writers of tristamp for making Knives into a more complex character. Im sorry but Knives from the 98 anime has basically no character and isnt much of a complex character compared to Vash.
Tho in tristamp i kind of liked his character writing more than Vash's. Vash in tristamp is so poorly characterized and so much more emo compared to his manga and 98 versions, not to mention Merryl (one of my favourite characters') was so underutilized in tristamp it hurt seeing her be so naive, but after finishing the show i have some hope that they write her and Vash better in the second season (i think tristamp is sort of a prequel to 98 anime ver of Vash, hopefully they dont make him too edgy in the second season)
Honestly it sucks to see tristamp fans shit on the 98 anime when its basically part of the same ip and the manga wasnt completed back then, so the writers of 98 anime had to make alot of original stuff.
