  • This week we are installing the inner and outer door waist seals in our 1964 Triumph TR4. These seals have a reputation for being difficult to install - space is tight and the clips are small. We did our own thing, and it ends up being easier than expected. Or maybe we did it all wrong? Check out the video and let us know!

    I couldn’t get my glass in by doing the seals first....at least with the bottom channel attached to the glass I couldn’t.

      Yeah I know we are going to be called crazy (an accurate assessment at any rate), but we are going to try to attach the channels to the window inside the door 😬. Stay tuned! Hahaha

    Same way I did. Sliced up my forearms a bit, but I would do it that way again. Good job, guys. Those parts from TRF are the best quality out there. The Spitfire ones are just as well made.

      Thanks Chris! Really good to hear from someone who used this method successfully!

    On my TR250, I knew these were going to be a bear to fit, as if most the stuff on the car isn't. But if you go to Mossmotors they have a tool that is a flat hook.
    Let's see, do I have anything I could make one out of? Yeah! The metal strip on the old wiper seal! Cut off the rubber, bend a hook in it. Works great.
    He did it with the window out here, which is much easier. Roll the window down, lay the clip in the hook, slide it in the top of the door, align it up and pull it up into place. The ends were the hard ones.

    Didn’t have any issues with the outer seals but I thought the fuzzies were a bear!

    Let me just add with the glass and all the door parts make the install one of the hardest things I ever done on my 6 .Takes less time to pull the motor than to put those stupid clips in .

      Good to know... looking forward to getting back at it today 😅

      There is a tool that I bought years ago that is designed to carry those clips from the top to secure the fuzzies and the rubber seal. I have never had my side glass out of my TR4 or my TR6. But I have this job ahead of me.

      It is Noico 80 mil sound deadening mat, available on Amazon. Basically a knockoff of "Dynamat" or other name brand sound deadening.

    Hi - I think you have put the inner door seal in upside town, the fluffy felt goes to the top does it not??

    • @WegsGarage
      @WegsGarage  4 года назад

      Our seals were like two little rods with the felt in the center, if that makes sense. Plus they were pre-bent, so the only option would be left or right side. Does that make sense?

      @@WegsGarage yeah, not sure that it matters, but the metal part of the fuzzy seal should pop into the little tab I believe...

    • @WegsGarage

      So you are saying the "chrome" strip should be inside the door? Unless the parts we got were just plain wrong I don't understand how they could fit this way. The bend for the "waist" was already there so they can't be flipped over. I must be missing something.

      @@WegsGarage is there a metal strip on the bottom of the seal as well mark?

    • @WegsGarage
      @WegsGarage  4 года назад

      Yes, it was another strip the same diameter as the one at the door top; however, it was black instead of chrome. Between the two strips was the fuzzy stuff. Overall, it is pretty much symmetric with the fuzzy in the center.
