It wasn't just the mistreatment of Indians in Hollywood. It was to bring to attention the uprising in Wounded Knee. There was an actual armed occupation by Lakota Indians in Wounded Knee in 1973.

Many Hispanics are actually part Native. In the Southwest part of the US, before it became the US and was a part of Mexico (and Spain before that), many Spanish who moved to the area married Natives. She may not be Apache but I'll bet she has some Native in her ancestry.
