I'm so glad you didn't cut the burl in half, this piece of art / vase is strikingly beautiful. The moment you applied the oil and that wonderful burl pattern became clear was lovely 😘😘💖 thanks for sharing take care stay safe.
Absolutely beautiful. You are a true artist.....won't ever think about the cost of a hand made item crafted from nature. Worth every penny.........amazing work.
I find these videos calming, and very nice to watch. To see something others would consider ugly and worth discarding, turned into a breathtaking masterpiece. There's something poetic about the method in which you transform what is essentially trash, into a priceless treasure. Masterful. 👏👏
Bravæ! This is an incredible piece! Sometimes I get tired of resin. Especially solid colors that hide the raw edges of burl. Thank you for preserving this piece! 🤟💐🌺🍀
I have watched quite a number of your videos in the past and was surprised to hear this one narrated. Makes it so much more watchable and you explain the concepts you are using very well. I definitely like it. All the pieces I have watched you make have been amazing, and because I have missed the last few weeks worth, I have a bunch to catch up on. Thanks for making these.
The burl was awesome and I really love the vase you made out of it and I'm pleased you was able to keep alot of its natural look the finish was fantastic thank you for a great video David
Aside from being absolutely cool, I love to see burls, it reminds me very much of the movie "Alien", with Sigourney Weaver. If you don't have a bouquet to put in it, I bet you could find a little alien that will fit nicely.
Good call knowing when to stop, reconsider and go forth. That is what art is, a changing concept constantly playing out before us. The mineral oil finish is interesting.
just a thought ,,,the remaining burl area could have been filled in with a color tinted epoxy for a different visual effect. Nice work showing us how you turn something that large.
Love the grain in burl woods, it really is amazing. Question though, how many hours go into a piece like this? And roughly what would someone pay for it?
Lol I swear this is the first time I’ve ever heard you speak… now I get the whole “I’m from the UK” thing 🤔😄 (Also, some people who don’t get UK humour might walk away from this actually thinking that there is now a wood finish out there that is actually developed by NASA haha)
Very good job !
Love that you kept some of the natural burl. It looks like something you would find on another planet. Just amazingly excellent work 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much 🙂
I wish there was a WOW button along with the thumbs up cause I'd want to hit that several times for this project. Wow. Just wow.
Thank you so much 🙂

Absolutely beautiful. You are a true artist.....won't ever think about the cost of a hand made item crafted from nature. Worth every penny.........amazing work.
It's amazing what's inside an old piece of wood. It just takes a masters hand to bring out it's beauty.
Thank you so much 🙂
Enjoying your commentary, David! I appreciate hearing your reasoning for your artistic choices.
Thank you so much 🙂
Spectacular!

I’m so corny. I love that you went with the curl of the burl. (Mastodon song)
Lovely burl! I have a huge Cherry burl on my lathe right now.

What a lovely vase. Thank you for sharing 🌞
Thank you 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous, I'm glad your lathe lived through the process.
Thank you so much 🙂
This is beautiful and looks weighty. I love the rustic look when you leave part of the natural wood.
Thank you so much 🙂 Yes it has a decent way for sure will hold a big bunch of flowers with no problem 😉
Gotta love it when you apply the oil and the true beauty of the wood wakes up! 🤗 Amazing work as always, it looks like a volcano egg! 🥰
Thank you so much 🙂
New subscriber here. Beautifully done! Watching from 🇨🇦
Thank you so much 🙂 Welcome here!
Good job

Thank you 🙂 It was such a nice burl I simply just wanted to keep as natural as possible. :)
A very beautiful burl vase David. Well done.

Great work David, turned out looking fantastic.
Thank you so much 🙂
Beautiful piece 😊👍🏻
Thank you 🙂
Wow that thing is beautiful, probably very stable also with it not being hollowed out wich is very nice
Thank you so much 🙂
I used to have a small sand blaster I would use to clean up the live edges with. You might think about that.
That’s is exactly what i did. :) did not film as my set up not ready yet but have a small sand blaster works excellent 👍
lindo o vaso
niesamowite! robi wrażenie,pozdrawiam
Love the grain in burl woods, it really is amazing.
Question though, how many hours go into a piece like this? And roughly what would someone pay for it?
Thanks 😊 About 8-10hrs. This piece was sold for £620 GBP. Since I do this for a living there are loads of factors contributing to the final price.
Very beautiful piece sir have a great day ✌️
Thank you so much 🙂

Hope i don’t get sued by NASA using their name 😅
Amazing piece - reminds me of a giant dinosaur egg that was sitting there during the comet explosion - its beautiful!! 🤩👍👀🥚
Thank you so much 🙂
Без слов было ,интересней смотреть.Прям раньше было здорово.
Amei beautiful

Absolutely Beautiful work!!. What kind if Burl was it?
Thank you 🙂 It was Elm butl

It’s the interrupted cut that is blunting on the edges.
Hello, I’m curious as to what is that component you use to start/stop and vary your lathe’s speed. Thank you in advance for any information
It is part of my lathe to control speed and back/forward rotation
Wow. That's great. I'm not sure what would have hurt more if I was doing that project- my wrists or my teeth! Great project though. Really nice
Thank you so much 🙂
David, Great finish, love the textures and natural shadings!!
Thank you so much 🙂
As if an alien from Mars made the vase
Who needs arm hair when you can have wood chips?
True
Did y'all see the 13 at 7:03? 😳
