This whole plan and process of salvation comes from God as a gift, not from ourselves as the result of works or good things that we have done.
The result of the process is “so that no one can boast.” In Ephesians 1:14, we are told that the salvation explained in verses 3-14 is “to the praise of His [God’s] glory.” If the plan and process of salvation were from ourselves, based on our good works, then, when we achieved the necessary level of goodness to warrant salvation, we could boast. “I did it!” we might say, or, “I gave it my all and overcame tremendous obstacles, but I finally ascended to the highest levels of goodness and holiness, and God gave me what I deserved!” And we could look down on those who did not make it: “Those others failed because they lacked the fortitude, insight, and piety that I cultivated.” Boasting would abound. If the plan and process of salvation were based on human works, then we would elevate ourselves over other people and even in some sense over God Himself, because our salvation was our own doing, not His. Ephesians 2:8-9 says an emphatic NO. The plan and process of salvation is from God as a gift, it is by grace, and it is accessed through faith in God’s promises in Christ. Nothing about salvation is worked up from within ourselves, and it is not based on good things we do. Boasting in our own achievements is out of place, but, as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:17, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
Many people memorize Ephesians 2:8-9, and it is an excellent synopsis of the gospel, but the passage does not end at verse 9. Verse 10 is necessary to complete the thought. Someone might wonder what place good works have in the life of a Christian. We have already seen that chapters 4-6 are all about good works and right behavior. Just as chapters 4-6 come after chapters 1-3, so Ephesians 2:10 comes after Ephesians 2:8-9, not only sequentially but also conceptually and chronologically. We are not saved by doing good works, but we are saved for the purpose of doing good works: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Good works are a vital part of the Christian life because doing good is one of the reasons God saves us-He has things for us to do. But the sequence is all-important-good works are not the cause of salvation but the purpose of it. God saves us so that we can go into the world, doing good works in His name, and this brings Him all the more glory (cf. Matthew 5:16).
Given the truth of Ephesians 2:8-9, it is crucial to ask oneself, “What do I rely on for my salvation?” Are you relying upon good things you have done, or do you recognize that you have nothing to contribute and simply cast yourself upon the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ?

      Salvation by Faith:
Yet we know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ , so we also, have believed in, Christ Jesus , in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no man will be justified. Galatians 2:16
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ died in vain Galatians 2:21
IN WHOM YE ALSO TRUSTED,AFTER THAT YE HEARD THE WORD OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL OF YOUR SALVATION: IN WHOM ALSO, AFTER THAT YE BELIEVED, YE WERE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE. Ephesians 1:13
Therefore the law has been our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. Galatians 3:24
WORKS VS FAITH: Our works reflect our faith. Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey me”, That obedience is a reflection of our faith, and love for Jesus, not an obligation, because of fear of going to hell
Before I got saved I tried to do good works out of FEAR of going to hell. Now that I am saved I do good works out of LOVE for my savior and not out of FEAR. Which would you rather have? A child who loves you and does good so they don’t disappoint you, or a child who does good out of fear so you don’t punish them?
You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by the law; you have fallen from grace. Galatians 5:4
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy he saved us. Titus 3:5
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1John 1:8
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:Philippians 3:9
Salvation is a gift. It’s not a gift if you have to pay for it.

❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙THIS IS THE BIBLICAL WAY TO BE SAVED:
There Is only one God, in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. ONE God.
Humans are ONE person ( in three parts) The body, soul and spirit. Three parts, ONE person.
The Bible says that we are all sinners.
As it is written: There is none righteous , no not one. Romans 3:10
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.Romans 3:23
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags. Isaiah 64:6
For the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 (The word death in this verse means eternal separation from God in hell).
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Isaiah 1:18
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures. 1Corinthians 15:3-8
In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:14
For by grace ye are saved, through faith; and not of yourselves.
It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
I do not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 2:21
Realize that you are a hopeless sinner and trust in Jesus shed blood on the cross to pay for your sins.
The moment you trust in Jesus and only Jesus, you are saved.

I think the whole "tent thing" probably had to do with the feast of tabernacles, but I don't know.
Peter = stone (as in stone tablets: 10 Commandments)
    James = supplanted (replaced with)
    John = Grace
It is so cool to me that after the Father says, " THIS is my beloved Son, hear HIM," the very first thing He says to them is "do not be afraid."
It seems that Peter was putting Jesus on the level as Moses and Elijah (representing the Law and the prophets), yet God was putting Jesus on a much higher level: THIS is my Son, hear HIM, and the other two disappear.

The reason I found this video is because what stood out to me was that in Luke when this same story is being told from Luke's gospel..when Peter asks to build them each a tabernacle..it's written that the Lord tells him he knows not what he asks.. being after 6 days and building them each a tabernacle..tells me they were celebrating Sukkot and this was a 7 day festival..this would've been the last day going into the 7th and I'm thinking that peter james and john already had their own tabernacles built..now remember that moses started tabernacles during the 40 yrs in the desert..and remember again that it was Moses and Elijah who came with Jesus when He visited Abraham and he brought them water to wash their feet and made 3 loaves of bread and prepared a calf and Jesus told Abraham and sarah they would have a son and He will return when isaac is born..and sarah laughed .so what we need to study is what didn't peter know ..why was he basically wrong to ask to build the Lord and Moses and Elijah a shelter? Well I think I pointed enough out for you study buddies to look into and think about..God bless you 🙏 Jesus Christ is God and Lord and King and Father and Savior!❤

Interesting isn’t it that Moses (Torah) alone can’t lead us into the promise land. Moses wasn’t able to go into the land because he struck the Rock. However…we find he spiritually crossed over right here. This shows us
Justification is by Faith alone in Yeshua which leads unto obedience to His Torah being written on our hearts and the Holy Spirit gives us power to rule over sin and obey His written will

I believe Peter knew he was witnessing some kind of transition (in the future after Jesus fulfilled the cross) and he realized how shocking it would be to a Jew to suggest that Jesus was greater than the Law or the Prophets, so he suggested building 3 tents where all 3 could co-exist. Once they leave the mountain, Jesus warns them not to go tell everyone, he knew it would cause MAJOR upset and backlash, which we know ultimately it did and cost people their lives. This was not the time yet for this truth to be revealed.

The Jewish Feast of Booths, also known as Sukkot or the Feast of Tabernacles, is a harvest festival that takes place in the fall. It commemorates the 40 years the Israelites spent wandering in the desert and is celebrated five days after Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. The festival is one of the three Pilgrim Festivals of the Hebrew Bible

Matthew wasn't even there up on Mount Tabor when Jesus Transfigured and yet he describes what took place in great detail.
The only way Matthew knew about this event is Peter, James and John told him every detail after Yeshua rose from the grave.
My point is all the disciples knew the timeline for the Rapture because Peter, James and John told them what Yeshua told them.
All the prophets in the bible that knew the timeline for the rapture have one thing in common, they all got the same timeline, including Yeshua on five different occasions in the bible.

Guess: The tent verse occurs in the 4th verse: the number 4 is the number symbolizing things done on the Earth. A tent refers to a temporary place: often a place on the Earth, or, life on Earth. The Bible is all about the interaction of God and man. Peter is glad to invite God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, (or, the writings (Jesus), the law (Moses), and the prophets (Elijah)) to finally dwell on the Earth (and officially be fully glorified). Obviously Jesus is incomparable to Moses or Elijah, but it's just a thought. When God refers to Jesus, and they lift up their eyes, all the power is with Jesus symbolized and emphasized by Him being the lone remaining person of the three. As you rightly point out, Jesus "overshadows" them. They pave the way, like you said.

Specifically will God talk to Israel (all jews who survive wrath) telling them that "This is my son, Of whom I'm well pleased".. For the 3rd and final time (1st when baptized, 2nd at the transfiguration). Then All jews who survive will have their eyes and ears opened and then know Jesus is the son of God and their Messiah. ??? Why is the Bible so contradicting question for example here's Matthew 17 where Jesus is talking to the deceased Moses and Elijah but yet in Deuteronomy 18 vs 10 through 12 they say that you're not supposed to talk to the Dead but yet Jesus says that we will be able to even do more than he could do because he's living through us with us within us as God is as well the other question I have wrapped around this particular video cuz I never understood if John Peter and James were present during this experience and all each have their own books within the Bible why would they not be sharing the story of the exact experience from the horse's mouth why would Matthew be writing this so experience instead of the three of them

“....after Jesus gave them his schpeel....”. Really? Choose your words carefully. I know that it doesn’t sound as “cool” to say, “..after Jesus finished His discourse,” or something to that affect, but it avoids the degradation your teaching and Christ’s.
I do appreciate your enthusiasm, hunger for God’s word, and teaching of how to glean from God’s word, and hope my comment is considered in good faith.

It seems that the author does a lot of speculating, trying to find points that have some sort of relation to each other. That can lead to imposing your own point of view and in effect "going beyond" what the Scripture actually says. Just let the Bible interpret itself without throwing in extra information that has no real value.

It's a VISION only n that is a symbolic revelation n trance state bible shows. Ecc 9 : 5....says the dead know Nothing, NEITHER have they any more a portion forever in anything done under the sun ( including what happened on the mount) etc ...they sleep. The early church knew this and in all Paul's tribulations he moans of he desired to depart n be resurrected with Christ . Saying I'm going to sleep n I'll see you when all this is over. Depart n be with Christ? It mentions the DAY OF CHRIST several times. Comparing texts the day of Christ is Christ's coming n our resurrection. It's clear and so shall we ever BE WITH the Lord CHRIST. KJV. Job said though the skin worms destroy THIS body yet in my FLESH ( resurrection body) SHALL I SEE GOD ( not before)

This is Jesus the Son of God's glory, Peter James, and John saw Jesus face to face in his glory which was like the glory of the sun.
Moses saw the glory of the Father from behind, because if he had seen the Father's glory from the front, or face to face he would have died as scripture says.
When Moses went up on the mountain, and scripture says he talked with God face to face, he didn't see the Father face to face, he saw Jesus the Son of God manifesting as the Father.
The glory of the Father is one glory, the glory of the Son is another glory.
There are two different glories, because there are two different beings, and one being's glory is different from the other.

This video has come closest to the answer but makes the mistake that Elijah and Moses have been raised from the dead, which is scripturally incorrect.
Elijah and Moses went to sleep and will not be raised again until Jesus returns, as scripture professes.
Jesus did not confirm Peter's assumption
And the disciples asked a question about "doesn't the scriptures say that Elijah must come first"
The reason Peter mistook the angels for Elijah is confirmed with the question "doesn't the scriptures state that Elijah must come first"
This was the problem that Peter faced how could Jesus be the Messiah when the scripture states that Elijah must come first?
Peter had this question which weighed on his mind "Where is Elijah"
Then the voice of God states "This is my son in whom I am well pleased listen to him"
    Then Peter was afraid.
Then Jesus states that Elijah has ALREADY come in the form of John the Baptist.
Peter was waiting for Elijah and because he was on a high mountain ---he THOUGHT he was seeing Elijah and Moses.
Jesus then states that he (Jesus) will be raised from the dead.
This was the true purpose of the transfiguration
Jesus went to talk to God (his clothes were dazzling white) and his ministering angels Matthew 4:11 and Matthew 16:27...
To strengthen his walk to the cross.

Where does it say that they mistook them for Elijah and Moses? If that were true, the biblical authors (inspired by God) would’ve looked back at that event providing clarity on confusion rather than stating it as a fact. It doesn’t say they were confused or they “looked like” Moses or Elijah but Moses and elijah actually appeared to them. And you misunderstand me. I never said they raised from the dead. You assumed that. “Appearing” after death doesn’t have to equal resurrection

@@AboveReproachMinistry For the answer you have to look at scripture what does Jesus say in John 1:18.
No one has ever seen God.
And all sleep and wait for Jesus second coming where he will raise the dead.
Scripture shows that you have made the error the same error made by all those before you in which you cling your hopes to.
My thoughts were after you explained verse Matthew 16:27 you would have come to the truth, but you were misled by those before you.

@@johndavid3474 I think you’re importing a lot of assumptions into those texts. John 1:18 isn’t saying anything about what we’re talking about, unless I misunderstand what you’re saying. Are we talking about the same thing?

@@AboveReproachMinistry In Matthew 17 verse 10 the question is "why do the scriptures say that Elijah must come first" ?
Jesus in the scriptures, has not confirmed that Peter saw Moses or Elijah.
The scriptures also say no one has seen God.
If no one has seen God why are Elijah and Moses with God?
Therefore it was an assumption, how did Peter know the vision he saw was Elijah or Moses, if he has never seen him before?
      What did Peter ask Jesus?
So let us look at scripture...
Peter asks but WHY does the scriptures say that Elijah must come first?
What was primarily on Peter's mind?
His first question, why hasn't Elijah come....
Jesus then puts his mind at rest by stating that Elijah has already come in the form of John the Baptist.
It would be a fair assumption to suggest that Peter had questioned this conundrum privately.

@@johndavid3474 a few clarifications are needed.
      1) what does it mean that “Elijah comes?”
      2) who is the “Elijah” being alluded to? Literal Eijah or one who comes in the spirit of Elijah?
      3) does Elijah showing up on the mountain = Elijah “coming?”
      4) What does it mean to “see God?”
      5) How does one “see God” and when can that effectively happen?
      6) Is this “vision” merely happening in their minds? Or is this something they’re experiencing with the physical senses?
      7) Why does the text say Moses and Elijah “appeared” if it was nothing more than a collective vision in their minds?
      8) Are you saying this was fabricated by their own minds? Or did God truly show them something on that mountain? I’m not sure I follow what you’re saying.
