I love this. I started fasting January 2019 after a mass was found in my uterus. I didn't want to try what the doctors stated. I was in a lot of pain. I was told I'd never have anymore children. I started at 249lbs and had an addiction to food. May 2019 I was 205lbs and found out I was pregnant. Scans showed a healthy baby, no masses found at all. The doctors couldn't understand. They asked me what I did because they said something like that mass couldn't just disappear on its own. I didn't fast during pregnancy, it's not healthy for the baby. January 2020 I gave birth to a healthy girl. I didn't fast during breastfeeding. After birth I was 190lbs, today I am 160lbs and haven't fasted since before I was pregnant. But i am active with 4 kids. I went through a massive awakening last year when I miscarried at 8 weeks. I'm getting back into fasting, my body hurts daily for awhile now. The longest fast I ever did was 30 days. But yeah, re feeding needs to be healthy and slow. Most people suggest bone broth on the first day. Then vegetables. Slowly build up. I don't enjoy foods I once did before my journey. And I'm more highly aware of my propensity to food addiction and why. Good luck everyone. Much love. Oh! Don't forget when fasting for the health of your body, fast with other parts of your life as well. I got rid of a lot of toxic people etc. We can't force others to change, but we can be the change.

I will never know how people do 40 day water fasts . I just did a 3 and a half day one and I feel like death today . The pain in my back is more severe and I can hardly walk without my heart nearly beating out of my chest . I’ve been eating organic fruit and veg for 3/4 years and I intermittent fast . The first time a did a 3 day fast on day 3 my body hurt so much . This time was easier but still tough . Hats off to you for your strength and determination John 😌

Well, synchrionisticaly I see this video just as I'm preparing to break a 6 day dry/water fast...
As it seems it has for you and many others here, fasting has become a major part of my life in the past years and I currently spend as many or more days fasting as I do eating. I see it's improving my health and also my spirit but do still struggle with feeling bad and also ungrounded through these times and I appreciate the video very much. I'm very curious to hear more of this kind of practical content about fasting and the Sacred secretion, there are many many esoteric videos out there but what's needed now is more practical wisdom from those with extensive experience.
I'm also very interested in the practical and spiritual side of your 40 day fast as I feel that all of this exoeri nce is working up to that initiation in the years to come.
(this may be a one on one discussion to have but perhaps a video would serve the community here around this channel as well)

This is timely for me. I was just 2 weeks in trying the ketogenic, high-fat diet, and my spleen started to enflame from a reoccuring EBV flare (whether or not it was triggered by the new diet, I know not), and when you emphasized that the pain is healing, that helped me. It also helped to hear that there is a LOT involved with a fast...not just start drinking water only and good luck! The only reason I started the ketogenic/high fit diet was because I thought it might help me heal faster and deeper. I will definitely play around with this and begin praying and meditating about fasting. I'm 42 and I live in the USA so it's like flying a star-ship through an meteor shower!!!! So difficult with all of the food choices we have at our fingertips!

thank you, great advice. I concur..I've had positive and negative experiences breaking fasts and anyone reading this...breaking well and properly rather than poorly and thoughtlessly is comfortable mentally and physically. to be undisciplined breaking a fast is spiritually weak and you'll suffer physically and get no spiritual benefit from the previous days.

Thank You Good Sir for the information it was great. You are sure right about coming out of a fast wrong. I did a 63 day water fast, when I came out I was not discipline enough, I almost killed myself. I have done many fast after that and only come back with vegetable broths. Now I only do 40 day and below.

Wow, 63 days is quite serious. Idlove to hear more about how you manage a 40 day fast physically. I'm well accustomed to 10 days and less and it's become a regular part of my spiritual practice but 40 I feel will provide some challenges that I might not anticipate until I'm in it. Any advice is welcome there and it's encouraging to hear you both speak from experience.
I'm also becoming interested in how to supplomet and nourish and specifically how the breaking and renourishmet can improve.

i understand to lay around and water fast is good, but going for a 30 minute to 1 hour walk in the day , then laying down the rest of the day has to be the better way. this walk gets ur blood flowing and will most certainly help your body detox the rest of the day.

Thanks, I'm glad for this, I followed Harrod Buhner's fasting book to do a 9 day water fast and though helpful to a point, it didnt give any support in the return to eating phase. I chose to eat some marinated tofu at this time, perhaps a salt craving?... got a horrendous pain for a few hours across my chest though it was a heart attack, searched everywhere online for help, and figured out it was aesophagal cramping... A reaction, and calmed down, instinctively bought some super green powder to alkalise which helped hugely.... I've since been looking for help to understand refeeding in order to have the courage to fast again... :-) The days water fasting were great, the refeeding was the most difficult and quite scary

Hi John, great information about water fasting. I researched it for a long time before undertaking any, starting with a couple short ones. I never got much of the white tongue, which suprised me. Never did an enema either. But I did experience great changes with a 29 day water fast, and a twenty-one dayer. The twenty-one days were better, ( Even Shelton thought less is more). I sense multiples of seven may be the best approach. That being so, i think I ought to have broken the fast at 28 days, at the least, because day 29 started another, deeper cycle.
“soil and health” is a fabulous online library.
I like to do a salt water flush the day before a water fast. Would always prefer that to an enema.
Best to quit coffee and tea before the water fast, ( some people eat “ clean”
but forget about that) , and thus avoid the withdrawal headaches. Anything one can do to make the three day transition easier is wise.
Hardly anyone does the lying still, these days, in my experience and reading. perhaps at a fasting retreat centre... But it would be wonderful, I agree, to be in a nice warm place ( like in Tanzania, - I lived there as a teenager! ) , and be able to actually do nothing but rest.
So true, you should never, never break on a down. That is the cardinal rule. It will only make re-feeding way harder, and re-feeding is what people reallyneed to focus on. It takes patience, restrant and discipline. * Imperishable patience *
as one poster on curezone put it, is what is Most required. I made that mistake on the 29 days, of breaking on a slight down- impatience! and it took me about four weeks of refeeding before my digestion was back to working well, and I had vitality back in my body, such as being able to climb stairs without getting tired. I hope anyone reading my post will be very serious about only breaking on an upswing, because they will come! there are the lows, but you can be very sure a low will be followed by an up.
I simply got tired and bored of spitting up salty mucous, which began in the last week... a sure sign i was going deeper. I wanted to taste something besides that,
but i paid the price for my lack of patience and losing sight of the body clearly wanting to purge, rather than take anything in.
I like Edward Purinton’s fasting manual, that begins with the advice “don’t.” which acts as a good gatekeeper. 😁
In the longer fast I began to crave a single leaf of baby spinach... almost no food looked real to me anymore, though I was able to prepare very nice things for my partner, who was still eating. I put a lot of love into the food, and enjoyed handling it, but really did not miss it. ( oh, just remembered, I had a fascination for artisinal bread making videos, for about a week...) But on the whole I began to feel I could simply ‘eat’ what I liked by seeing it, touching it, smelling it. Started to feel like just the molecules of some fruit in the air could enter my pores... Taste, after all, is only one of the senses, and there is an entirely other non-physical realm that one taps into, on a water fast. I so enjoyed that.
Lately, I have been inspired to do a few dry fasts... A thing I never considered until now. I did this only fasting from the end of my evening meal, to roughly the next meal. This equates to being dry about 24 hours, some of that being asleep. I was amazed to find it quite easy and enjoyable. Even easier actually than 24 hours of water fasting! I found it fascinating that I did not get the dehydrated feeling I normally get in my mouth and my lips, after going for a walk, when I was dry fasting. It was as if my body managed water better by being left to its own stores. Maybe this was relatively easy also because I normally only eat once a day, an evening meal, and otherwise drink mainly green tea or boiled water. Turns out plain, boiled, hot water is really nice! I think I discovered that long before water fasting... it is as good as tea, most times. best wishes!

Thanks a lot for this informative video! I had been looking for a video like this on RUclips. It is also interesting to see how everyone reacts so differently to a water fast. After a 16-day water fast, I ate random things during the day where I broke the fast, including meat and the only bad effect that I felt from that was that I did not have any bowel movement for 2 days so my digestive system was not immediately able to process the food that I was eating. Apart from that, I felt really good.

Inspired by John i have done several 3 day waters this year the second propelled me into veganism (not intentionally i might add i just could not eat a lot of food suddenly) my need for tea/coffee stopped and even thinking about refined sugar food made me feel ill. I did however drop from 14 stone to just under 10 stone(i am 6 ft 2 so and never been "dumpy") in a matter of months if not weeks ( i had not realised how much weight i was dropping until all my clothes were dropping off me and people were saying how skinny i was so i stopped fasting the last 2 months and the craving are creeping back though i do have much more control over them but when i was fasting each month i never even thought of the "bad things".
Also i live in the UK and i live very rural in very humble lodgings and it gets very cold here so i am not planning on fasting through the winter as i really feel the cold and i have old injury's that really play up when body gets cold.
So i am hoping i can get a fast in this September before the cold weather gets here as the next one wont be till spring.
My question to John is .........
You mention injury's getting aggravated while fasting and this is a sign they are being healed.
Is this something you have found Fasting helps you with ? i.e. improve and/or help the healing of injury's ?
I have terrible trouble with long term injurys i have sustained over the years and it really holds me back and the pain can make me quite fearful.
I ask rather than Google as well i do not really trust the accuracy of the avalanche of "advise" on the internet however its obvious you have not only done a lot of fasting it is clearly really working for you so i would trust your advice over any blog or book i could find.

Sutra and Seed I worked in a restaurant where I am always tempted to eat. I am vegan if it matters but I set the intention that I was going to fast for 24hours and I asked my Heavenly Father to keep me focused and strong.. well.... I went to the gym that morning as I was finishing up an intense workout I told myself I am strong I am strong I am strong I am strong . I then realized wow I am strong my mind is strong. And that’s how I knew nothing would take me off track to complete my fast.

I think it's important to do so... I'm not an expert but I would think not having those electrolytes could be pretty dangerous in a prolonged fast. I'm surprised more people don't talk about this.

John, could you make a video explaining the basics of what you mean by "fasting"? I am very compelled to eat bread and sweet things. Can you eat fruits and vegetables during fasting?. I will appreciatte if you can comment on this.

Fasts vary, but here I mean eating nothing and drinking only water is how I fast. Some switch to fruits only etc but for me this never has the same benefits at all 🤍

@@JohnStJulienBabaWanyama So, when you refer to fasting you mean water fasting (only water consumption). How often do you do this water fasting? And during how many days. Sadhguru recommends carrying "intermittent fasting" as life-living everyday practice, which means stay 16hs a day without eating a just eating once or twice in the remaining 8hs of the day. He actually has one meal a day where he eats freely without caring about the amount of food. Of course, I think he is a vegetarian or maybe vegan, I don't know precisely. And then I think he recommends do one day of water fasting every 15 days.

I've done many short fasts.. my tongue is never white.. it's usually black.. that's worse isn't it?.. usually on my 2nd day of water fast.. i have heightened awareness.. spiritually and physically i feel like a new person.. but close to 4th day i usually have to eat.. so I'm hoping to learn how to keep going.. i like the feeling that a fast produces.. thanks for your video

Great info, John. In your last video you mention fasting on tea. I wondered if you could elaborate on that. I would think fasting on tea would not be as safe and effective as water since herbs are enervating and dietetic/dehydrating?

Love your content John but you are incorrect about fat causing arterial calcification.
High sugar content fruit/juices is what causes excessive triglyceride levels and thus oxidative stress on the LDL enabling them to permiate the arterial wall causing narrowing of the arteries.
I have done years of personal testing with various diets and the worst blood results consistently came from high carb diet.
The best blood results came from a lion diet (nothing but red meat and organs).

Does this mean not to tell anyone through your journey and posting weight loss measurements, health improvements etc posting before during after pictures etc. Or Does it just mean keep yourself clean and don't look like you are miserable about it.

I do have a question, i recently did a 5 day water fast, and will be going to do a 30 day next.
But ive had some small hair loss as of the 5 day fast.
Now ive read online that this is known as telegeon effluviem, the release of hair due to stresses on the body, and that my hair will probably fall out some more, but it says that after wards the hair will grow back much thinker and stonger, once the TE process is over.
Have you ever experienced this? Thank you, great video.

I did a 10 day fast and only broke it because my family was concerned about me. My hands and lips went blue and I was cold. I think after researching that I was drinking to much water and flushed salts and nutrients from my body. I'm planning on another water fast soon but for 20 days maybe longer and hopefully not feel as bad. It's hard trying to convince the family it's safe.

Hi Worthy - I'm on a water fast right now, so I"m interested in how much water you were drinking that was flushing the salts and nutrients out. I didn't know that was possible.

    • @worthy056
      @worthy056 7 лет назад +5

not2tees hi, Its hard to remember the exact amount I was drinking. I always had water with me all day and drank when ever i felt hungry. At around day 8 my hands and lips went blue and every time I stood up I would have to sit back down to prevent passing out. After researching more it could be to do with low potassium. Which might help by drinking less water or adding some salt to water.
