I was born there - in Sneek, Friesland (not shown in your video) - but my parents immigrated to Canada in 1955. We visited the Netherlands twice with my parents in 1961 and 1972, and with my wife in 1986. Beautiful little country!
God loving people with every possible need to look after their children and keep a good life and a clean conscience. Everybody else is nursing their hangovers or wishing life was easier.
I've really appreciated these incredibly detailed videos as I go back and study geography one country at a time!* As an American, I do have one correction on this one, though: The Pilgrims, who departed from Leiden to settle on the Atlantic coast of what is now the USA, were not the first white settlers of North America; Plymouth Colony was only the first permanent white settlement. *If you're still making these videos, I strongly suggest that you start showing maps in them so we can tell where you are in the country or region you're showing.
seems the environment of Holland is very nice, more tranquil than China, architecture is very different from China-style,and I love tulip very much,so beautiful and charming, really impress me deeply, maybe I would come for a visit
The NL is not quiet. At night you can see NL, B, D (a part of it till Dortmund) from a satellite (ligh pollution). You always see, hear or smell someone. You hear cars everywhere. I now live in a Hungarian village.
These are the ten oldest cities of the Netherlands: 1. Maastricht (round 500 B.C.) 2. Nijmegen (round 70 B.C.). In ancient Roman times it is called NOVAGUM BATAVORUM. 3. Utrecht (50 A.C.) 4. Zutphen (100-200 A.C.) 5. Aardenburg (174 A.C.), is located in the province of Zeeland. 6. Deventer (768 A.C.), located in the province of Overijssel. 7. Middelburg in the province of Zeeland (aprox. 800 A.C.) 8. Tiel (around year 850, in 896 tolrecht), in the province Gelderland. 9 Stavoren (11th century), located in the province Friesland, in the northern part of the country. 10. Hulst (11th century) and is located in the province of Zeeland (southern part of the country)
I can hardly wait until my Dutch husband takes me to visit his homeland of The Netherlands. I've travelled all over Canada & The U.S but have not travelled across The Atlantic. It's going to be so exciting! :)
"The European kingdom of Holland, known also as the Netherlands" I would have turned that around: The European kingdom of the Netherlands, known also as Holland. The Netherlands is the official name of our country, Holland merely the internationally accepted moniker.
Note: people who live in the provinces of North- and South-Holland can say "I am from Holland", cuz it's only referring to the both parts of THE NETHERLANDS!! So other people from the rest of this beautiful free country they should say they are from THE NETHERLANDS.
Actually in English Holland can mean the whole country. In fact, many language don't use the Netherlands form, they only use the Holland form to refer to the while country. Chinese and Finnish are examples.
The 4 big cities of the Netherlands are: Amsterdam (Noord-Holland). Rotterdam (Zuid-Holland, Den Haag (Zuid-Holland) and Utrecht (which is in the centre of the Netherlands, in the province of UTRECHT).
l'll be there on the 21st of this month. I can't wait, even though it will be my 4th trip there. I need to find me a good Dutch woman to make my visit permanent. ;)
I agree with the observations of a lot of people here. Some of my observations are probably repeated elsewhere: 1. Gauda should be spelled as Gouda 2 De Molens van de Kinderdijk should be De Kinderdijk, the mills are not part of the name. 3. The Netherlands has provinces, not states 4. I believe that the Afsluitdijk was called something else. 5. No attempt was made to at least approach the pronunciations of Dutch names such as Nijmegen which was pronounced as Nimugen (English sounds) 6. De Zaansche Schaans should be Zaanse Schans. 7. Indeed The Hague, Rotterdam, Scheveningen, Limburg Noord Brabant etc did not rate a mentioning. 8. Do not make the mistake of calling this country Holland. North Holland and South Holland (Noordholland en Zuidholland) are the two western provinces. When referring to the country itself, rather than the two western provinces (ignoring Zeeland), it should be Nederland. Ah well, it may be a small country but it is indeed rich in history
The first settlers in the USA (Northern America) were not the Pilgrim Fathers , as usually it is said, but the Spanish in St. Agustina, Florida in 1565, around 55 years before. It is high time to correct this extended mistake.
The Houtribdijk between Hoorn and Lelystad separates the Waddensea from IJssel lake is also not correct. it separates the IJsselmeer from Markermeer, so much incorrect information in this video. It is the Afsluitdijk (a huge sea dike) that separates Wadden sea from IJsselmeer.

This is a Very good video showing Holland. I wish we in the USA road bicycles more like Europeans. Here they want too many cars, SUVs etc. Everything is built further aways such as employment, the grocery etc. My question is how do they stand riding a bicycle in such cold temperatures. I road a 50cc scooter in 35 degrees with a coat and gloves and I was freezing. I admit that I get cold easily though.
Holland has well built shops. I love the tulips. It is very historical.
p
Holland was a great country with lots of old historical building....their tulips garden was awesome.
Only say Holland is a beautiful and pictorisque nation, most is well known as it cheesees and mildwinds. Thanks for sharing the documental of Holland.
Superb
!
it's like there is a magical barrier around north and south holland that prevents tourists from being able to be aware of the other 10 provinces
What are they?
ppo

Holland in Heaven. They saw it (Caanan) from a distance and welcomed it.

I would have turned that around: The European kingdom of the Netherlands, known also as Holland. The Netherlands is the official name of our country, Holland merely the internationally accepted moniker.
Thank you x

Except that Holland refers to only North and South Holland, not the other provinces

Nee. De grootste stad van Nederland is het eiland Texel. Texel heeft stadsrechten. Het gaat hierbij om het oppervlak, niet om het aantal inwoners.
l'll be there on the 21st of this month. I can't wait, even though it will be my 4th trip there. I need to find me a good Dutch woman to make my visit permanent. ;)
Beautiful country. Do the people who live there call it Holland or Netherlands?
Mostly The Netherlands. Although people from the provinces North- and South-Holland occasionally call it Holland.
Brigmophyson We call it the Netherlands. Holland is only the most west provinces, 2 of 12.
nice video. however Gauda is mispelled.. The world famous cheese and city is called Gouda.
hello lona good day to you dear.
I agree with the observations of a lot of people here. Some of my observations are probably repeated elsewhere:
1. Gauda should be spelled as Gouda
2 De Molens van de Kinderdijk should be De Kinderdijk, the mills are not part of the name.

nice video, but needs to re-upload with a higher RESOULTION.
Whose music is playing please?
The Netherlands (europa)
Gud
A lot history.
Who is the voice of the video please?
The first settlers in the USA (Northern America) were not the Pilgrim Fathers , as usually it is said, but the Spanish in St. Agustina, Florida in 1565, around 55 years before. It is high time to correct this extended mistake.
Good video, although there are more than a dozen of small mistakes in there, in fact too many to list. But OK, all details so I don't bother about it.
Why not HD? :/

The Zaanse Schans... They would take old houses from all over the region and transport them to that one spot.... Most buildings are occupied

I LOVE HOLLAND! SOON I WILL BE THERE PERMANENTLY,COUNTRY OF FREEDOM & DEMOCRACY!
Nothing is mentioned about Groningen.
Groningen is thrilling!
Boring!

+MICHAEL DAVIS It takes effort to drive a bicycle especially in a windy country like the Netherlands.. That warms you up.
+Ronald de Rooij Thanks for the explanation Ronald de Rooij!! Now I understand!!
Rode and ride.

Bom dia😊
