There’s no clutch in the petrol automatic, Gagan. That function is performed by the torque converter. It’s an eager coupling that lurches forward on crawl.
Surprisingly, my 7 month old Petrol AT Thar doesnt lurch forward at all. It is an eager engine. And its torque ensures an excellent low end. And its engine power ensures an excellent top end. One does not feel any lack of power at all. Saying that, it ought not to be driven at very high speeds. Ideally one ought to maintain the 90-110 range on the highways. This is not really a superbly fuel efficient vehicle especially if one has a happy right foot. However, if one drives responsibly using the AT box, in the city one can expect 8-9kmpl and on the highways one can pull 10-11 kmpl. In the hills going up and down it is more likely 7-9 kmpl. This is not a fuel efficiency gold standard but it is immensely satisfying to drive and makes one feel invincible in many ways because of its driving position and overall height and ground clearance. Especially on our Indian roads.
Gagan bhai following you for quite some time now...Just one suggestion, we need more frequent videos from you...week k 2 videos aa jae toh bohot badiya...
@@arnavsoni8579 Yes indeed. Faisal Khan is such a biased reviewer now. He treats Tata cars as if they are made out of gold and treats Mahindra cars as if they are shit. Look how he slams shut the bonnet of the Thar in his petrol review. He has also commented on Tata Nexon's crash test video but he hasn't commented on XUV300's video.
I like the way you let us see and admire loooong steady shots of the vehicle from all angles while narrating instead of standing in front of camera and talking. Love the concept.
At 5:50 you talk about clutch being on the bite point, since this is a torque converter, these vehicles do not have clutch but fluid coupling so there is no clutch burning there. But a very good review overall.
Hi, at 6min u mentioned Transmission is always eager to move ahead and clutch is in biting position....well this is Automatic transmission with Torque convertor...and has no clutch...so there is nothing to worry about clutch burning....take my words....u can brake and stop the car in D mode for whole day without worrying of any damage...
To the point. Concise, no nonsense review. Thank you so much. Gagan ji, at around 11:55, you say "headache kam hogi Petrol mein". Please elaborate what problems you were referring to ? Is this line in comparison to the Diesel engine? If yes, then what problems exactly. (Genuine query)
bhai main bhi bas dekh dekh ke majje le raha hu.. thoda mann banna tha ki kisi bhi tarike le lu.. ab bhai ne 21hjar km chalane ke liye 20hjar ka petrol laga diya to fir mann badal gaya 👨
Gagan Bhai aap hamare gaanv Bishangarh me ho. I am big fan of your knowledge about automobile sector. I am watching your video since starting of channel and I was sure then that you will got a great success in it.
Came looking for a decent review of Thar Petrol, and this is the best so far, such a honest, simple & meticulous report, a special mention for that moving video of Thar during sunset, it was so nice to watch. Liked and Subscribed :)
Gagan Choudhary is the pride of Jaipur. When i see his videos it feels so good and satisfying that someone from our place is explaining abt a product with perfection.
Bhai...what a amazing vedio quality.....bhai sahab which camera u use.....and how u edit...plz ek vedio apke gear ke uper banayi....plz...I beg u...plz
Being a lifestyle product THAR deserves an EV variant. IF ever Mahindra launches one it would blow the market in India as it would be easily the best lifestyle daily driver for city drive. And its just a matter of time that India gets proper EV charging infra all over its highways. THAR EV would be a real delight for many.
There is no clutch in an torque converter gearbox, the reason why it surges ahead when you leave the brake is due to long brake pedal travel and brakes are not that good.
Pese kam rakhne ke chakkar mein Thar mein basic cheezon ka dhyan hi nahi rakha... (watch From 13:40) perfectly explained. Sab kch perfect banate toh 2 lakh rs aur mehengi hoti.
With BS6 Phase 2 RDE being enforced from April 1st 2023, Diesel Engines are getting more complicated in Exhaust Monitoring and Exhaust Management (SCR + DPF + Adblu + More Electronics + More Sensors + More Software). If one does not drive more than 100km per day or limits to around 150-200kms per week, seems like Petrol is the right choice considering that one would retain the vehicle for 15 years. More simple the engine and its electronics, more it lasts.
Bro this is not AMT, it doesn't have any clutch. Its torque converter which runs through turbine and pressurised oil without any actual bite or contact. So less wear and tear.
Great Review Sir! Also, the Thar's diesel manual Off-road Review was very detailed but can we expect to see something similar on Petrol Automatic one too? As the visuals of off-roading on rocks are amazing.
The way he explains is just magnificent... Nice videos there... Just one thing... Actually that's crawl feature that mahindra and other few SUVs provide when car is put on halt and clutch is released... Just i think.. may b m wrong... Neways keep uploading videos sir👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Planning to buy ertiga for family purpose. The variant I am looking for is VXi/ VXi AMT. Which one will I consider? This will be my first car. My plan is, after buying the car, will add the instrument cluster, rear parking camera etc whatever is missing. Is it good to buy an automatic with 4 gear only? Mostly will use in City. Please help me on this. Thanks in advance.
There is gagan who tells every positive and negative point without any biased opinion and then there is that guy who wants 60 lakhs feel from 10 lakh priced indian brand and just roasts them.
But isn't it a torque converter? Then why clutch burn? TC don't have clutch. TC has no physical contact between engine and transmission. It is a fluid driven TC that transfers power to the transmission.
That's the petrol automatic which he his talking about right.... How the clutch point , clutch burning comes into the picture here.. Further that's the creep function of the automatic transmission which lets user creep at low speeds in traffic like conditions without frequently giving the acc pedal input..
@Gagan Choudhary, Ford Ecosport Titanium + Automatic and Urban Cruiser Premium Automatic are offered at same price. Which car would be better for long term use and practicality ?? Please reply ! ECOSPOST AT vs Urban Cruiser AT ??
Mine is at 22000 KM.. petrol automatic. It gives a kind of heat near paddle area . The plastic is heated near the gear level. I feel it on my foot constantly. If something is wrong ??
Sir ham mahindra thar le rhe h or ham Gar me 4 log h to koi long safar me problam to nai ho gi na kyo ki ye car hame sb ko bhot jyada hi pasand aai h to ham ne thar ko booking krwa diya h.to plzzzzzzzzzz sir btao koi problam to nai ho gi na😢😢😢
#gaganbhai Why did engine rev at high rpm but when we shift at higher gear ie 5th so why it didnot rev at same rpm as 1st gear even after a lot of time in full throttle?
There’s no clutch in the petrol automatic, Gagan. That function is performed by the torque converter. It’s an eager coupling that lurches forward on crawl.
That's what I was thinking....
But still sir it's ready to burn fuel ATTITUDE is what pinches... already booked thar at petrol just waiting 😓

Example if I m driving in traffic is it ok to be in drive gear n do braking
Or I should change to neutral for every little stop

They are made in house by complete Indian tech and are just as reliable an engine can be. Mahindra's engine can survive decades after decade.

I think this is perfect for high altitude winter drives as it’d be free from dpf issues faced by almost every bs6 diesel vehicle
