We had a blast putting together this good, old fashioned, retro, vintage...whatever other adjective you want to use to describe this fun wreath! Share any fun memories you have with your grandparents below. We hope you all have a wonderful day!
It’s very nice, with the blue going through it. Lovely and full, I think that’s the key to your decorations no matter what colour they are and they turn out beautiful. I always think of traditional colours as Red, Green and Gold.
Vintage perfection. I love my family tree in our den. It's an accumulation of all the ornaments my children and grandchildren have made, gifts from students I taught for many years, up to and including the dime store ornaments my husband and I bought the first year we were married (53 years ago). This wreath is perfect and I love the tree too.
My mother, brother and I started making Christmas ornaments by hand when we were very young. Money was tight so we couldn’t afford gifts for our large family. My mom would collect cool But free items; some things one might regularly throw away. Then by Christmas we’d have a collection of stuff to transform into ornaments. This tradition is still going strong and this year I’m starting it with my own family. My grandmothers tree is mostly decorated by the things we made and it’s always fun to look back at all the fun things we used.
Get your ugly Christmas sweaters out! Gotta be tacky! I love it! When I was a kid in the 50s we cut our Christmas tree from our property -- usually a cedar. Of course put all us kids' ornaments we made at school. There were glass ornaments in all colors some like the reflective ones you showed. But seemed like ornaments sparser than now. Sometimes star on top was one we cut from cardboard and covered with aluminum foil! How fun is that!? The lights were the bigger bulbs in multicolor. Last but not least was the tinsel icicles we threw all over it! Thanks for the memories guys!
My grandmother would have loved this! All that's missing is some crazy flashing lights! She loved her flashers! That ribbon really made it all pop! "Tacky" is good! Great job!
This wreath is so adorable. It reminds me of my parents tree from years ago. One of our family traditions was my pare rd would have us over Christmas morning and we would exchange gifts with them. Then my daddy would make us a pancake breakfast. They are both deceased now but I still carry on the tradition.
Indeed, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Representations of precious memories are anything but tacky if they convey your personal happiness. Remembering the times that recall a loving environment is after all an important element of the celebration. My grandparents' place had many different green apples, my favorite was the ones with naturally black splotches (seems like they referred to them as "horse apples"), I know they were not Granny Smith's, however they were quite tart sometimes. Thanks for all your fun videos!
I just love your videos. You two are real, humble, and David is so creative!!!! I’m so excited to do my decor with some of your tips and product this year❤️🎄
So much fun! My mom used so much tinsel. We thought our tree was so beautiful and fancy!🥰 Thanks for the tips on using parts of the frosted pics and hooking them into the wreath. I loved everything especially the see through ribbon!
From one red head to another...you look marvelous with specks of glitter on your face. I know, it can't be helped. Love your designs. I will have to check out your online store.
I love old time hand blown ornaments and mercury glass. Everything is so interesting and brings back many memories. The ugliest tree my family every had was covered in angel hair. It looked like it had been engulfed in a large spider web, lol, I don't think that will every come back in style🤣🤣
L00ks like you opened my "Old ornaments" box. I have some going back 4 generations. There is always a place on the tree. Some of my favorites are the pressed cotton fruits. Also love the old houses although the brush bottle trees are almost gone. My all time favorite is the Santa in his red velvet suit with the real hair. It was from my great grandmother for my first Christmas 83 years ago. Keep decorating. It brings joy to so many.
Definitely a trip down memory lane. And the tinsel. (before there were tinsel trees) there were tinsel icicles. And each one had to be "placed" on the tree. Your finished wreath was very pretty. 😊❤🎄
I'm a great grandmother and guess what....it is my least favorite. ..... but lots of fun. 👏🏻 You have helped me appreciate beauty and how to style a tree! 🎄I love y'all!!
I remember our first Christmas as husband and wife. Young, poor and made most of the ornaments that first year. So I started the tradition of getting each child an ornament every Christmas so they would have a set to start out with when they grew up.
What a wonderful idea! We remember those days, as well. One winter, we were renting a home and our gas heat ran out of...well, gas...and we didn't want to tell the landlord for fear we would have to pay to fill the tank. So we slept huddled in our living room on our futon couch with an electric heater. Good memories!
I had the opportunity to enjoy Old World Christmas decor from my Oma ( grandmother) Germany..As well my Grandmother from Tennessee..Fresh wreaths the pine scent was everything to me then as it it today.. Presentation phenomenal..much appreciated for showing your craft of decor..🎄 Sincerely Tee Jay ❄️
Love you guys so much!!! So much fun to watch...a little goofy at times but that’s what makes you so endearing!❤️❤️❤️ I can’t wait for 2021 fall and Christmas!
I do love it, classiest tacky wreath ever. One of our yearly traditions is to actually go to my sister-in-law’s for a tree trimming party to help with her spectacularly tacky tree. We always bring a new specialty ornament, there are staples of handmade ornaments and the occasional spatula that end up in the tree. Somehow it always turns out perfectly tacky. Of course the party always ends with everyone singing and dancing to Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You as the topper is being put on.
You both are getting better and better in front of the camera! One big take away from you is that when I look at a spray of any kind to think about how to get multiple uses out of it by splitting it apart. Love the retro theme!
I love it it brings back so many memories i like all the blends of colors i think there's nothing wrong with fixing a tree and wreath with different colors its really cool and as always keep up the good work im always looking forward to seeing your new videos
My sweet kids you've stole my heart again😍 Grew up in a single parent home with 5 kids. My younger brother had special needs. So always decorated the tree with moms ornaments, big lights and a string of bubble lights, then "filled" in with tinsel. The look on my brother's face was worth it. He has now passed so I decorate in his memory ✝️ and even though my grands are older they can't wait to see what Nana does every year🎄😂🎄
Oh, my goodness, LOL!!! You kids just really took me back in time! That tree is full of sentimental kitsch, masterfully completed:)!!! It is just like our Christmas trees in the fifties, early sixties! I remember as a child, thinking our tree looked like a party (celebration) explosion!!! Prior to taking our tree inside, it would often freeze in the bucket of water on the back porch. It would all come into the kitchen to thaw, then Dad always had to make a tree look straight regardless of its actual form! That was a chore, to say the least! Then the lights could finally go on, followed by ornaments, garland and icicles (tinsel)!!! Of course, the cat would always scamper up the tree, play with ornaments & try to eat icicles!! I'm giggling thinking about it all now, but how we loved our Christmas tree, the train and houses beneath it and celebrating the birth of Jesus:)!! Thanks so much, David & Jen for the sweet memory, a sentimental journey back in time:). Loved every minute ~ great fun! Hugs all 'round, ~Susan
Mhen my mother die I pick up her christmas decoration and even tho her house was close I decorate the balcony and I keep the decorations I always use some of her decoration . And in the cemenyety I put some christmas decoration too. Thankyou very much for your decorations. God bless and Mary Christmas
You have achieved your goal. I found your videos and website store recently. I have placed three orders and your items are affordable and the quality is superior to anything I can get locally. 👏🏼 Bravo!!
My Grandparents did not decorate trees or wreaths for Christmas. My Dad would bring home red cedar trees from the woods and I loved the fragrance. We had different glass ornaments including the indented star burst variety. The Christmas trees had multiple color lights and a star was placed on top of the tree. Silver icicles were also placed on the branches. A bed sheet was used as a tree skirt. I take a different approach decorating artificial Christmas Trees and I believe in elegance. I also enjoy using glass ornaments, glass icicles, handmade crystal dangle ornaments and gold wire mesh onion shape ornaments and picks. I purchase well made elegant tree skirts that compliments the tree in color as well as theme. I believe in creating a beautiful decorated Christmas tree that I can admire. It is so magical having just the lights on the Christmas tree as the only light source in the living room and drinking a glass of white wine. This creates a soothing environment. I enjoyed your video. Have a great day!

Beautiful wreath. Definitely a vintage l◕‿◕k. I purchased your 24'' mixed pine wreath a few days ago. I love the quality of it so much I just ordered another and it was on sale his time. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this one! I have a wonderful collection of ornaments that have been collected over the years! I love decorating my tree with them...so this wreath would be perfect! I'm getting lots of ideas for my Etsy Wreath shop as well! Y'all are adorable!!!!
Wonderful! If you sell on Etsy and have your business license, you can buy from us wholesale allowing you to make more money on your wreaths. Let us know if we can help. Thanks for watching.
Made me cry...in a good way. Remembering my parents and our crazy, tacky tree!! It was so beautiful to us at the time! You create the most beautiful trees and ornaments but this was THE BEST. Love you guys and I'm glad I found you. Take care and GET SOME SLEEP!
Wow, you captured my childhood Christmases perfectly! Thank you so much for doing this theme as I am doing one of my 7 trees in Retro/Vintage! I was born in 1960 so I'm .........old! Recreating a Retro/Vintage tree is going to be so much fun using alot of my vintage ornaments and wonderful ideas from you two! I actually found some tinsel, which when I was little were called icicles, to put on the tree. Can't wait to start! Thanks again, great job!😊
Oh my goodness. This so reminds me of my childhood. Our tree had the huge lights, mercury ornaments, and tons of tinsel. My mom still packs on the tinsel.
I have my own crafting company and one of the groups I work with are senior centers/assisted living/nursing homes. They really adore this style. Thank you for the ideas as I have events coming up with them through the holiday season! I’ll be looking into that wholesale account as well!!!
My daddy said Christmas was the one time you could go tacky and get away with it. I am all about some tacky Christmas. I dont do tinsil, he wanted it put on one strand at a time. This reminds me of my childhood.
that's wonderful. I never have seen a wreath like that. awesome... I got 10 out of 10 points on today's Xmascontest tour judging 2 more to go and probably win the first prize am very excited. anyway, great job.
@@DavidChristophers yes am sure I been winning first place 3 years in a roll this time first is 10gs. the end of the contest is the day before Thanksgiving. that why I have to decorate so early. then I take most of it down and do our own thing.
I remember going to my grandparents at Christmas. They had the aluminum silver tree with blue ornaments and a color wheel that changed between different colors. I love your wreath. It gives me some ideas for a new wreath. Love the things that you do!
Loved this . Reminded me of home . Gosh I used to think a lot of the stuff was “tacky” when I was a teen but I’m reverting back to traditional . It brought a tear to my eye as I have lost my mom in the last few years . Thank you so much for bringing back memories to me.
This makes me giddy! My main living room theme is a nostalgic/old fashioned look and I love it so much. Love all the picks and ornaments and it's super cool that you (DAVID) designs much of your merchandise. LOVE LOVE LOVE this!
So very fun! It is such a throw back to Christmas trees I remember growing up but with a bit of an upgrade! Great tip on the stem hooking! I will be using that tip for sure. Love it! Thanks for the video
Everyone had a tree like this when I grew up just fun and festive. I can still remember my parents taking us to Sears Christmas Shop and picking out ornaments my favorites were these small elves we placed all over and of course the projects I made at school for my parents😅 Always tinsel cause it wasn’t complete without the tinsel. We went to the tree farm a week before Christmas to find our perfect tree and hoped it made it to January first🙌🏼TYFS, stay safe and healthy everyone ❤️
Love love. My families christmas tradition is to make homemade cinnamon roles and oranges roles for Christmas breakfast/brunch. We go all out for Thanksgiving dinner but Christmas morning it's simple amd easy. With the family Christmas tree I was told once when you have a mixture of ornaments to keep one thing the same. I will use all of the same ribbon on the tree but then add all of the family ornaments to the family room tree. To me it helps make the look more cohesive. Keep up the good work.
This reminds me of my families decor at Christmas , wonderful memories . We had angel hair on ours. My poor Mom’s hands would get so messed up , she put it on because all of the kids loved it .
The wreath is very pretty!! I’m sad that we didn’t get to see David decorating the tree but it looks gorgeous!! And Jennifer I love your shirt!! So much truth in that!! Thanks for sharing 😁

This grandma loves it!
It’s very nice, with the blue going through it.
Lovely and full, I think that’s the key to your decorations no matter what colour they are and they turn out beautiful.

This reminds me of my families decor at Christmas , wonderful memories . We had angel hair on ours. My poor Mom’s hands would get so messed up , she put it on because all of the kids loved it .
As a G.R.I.T.S. (Girl Raised In The South) I couln't love this style more! Very southern grammy! Absolutly adorable!
The wreath is very pretty!! I’m sad that we didn’t get to see David decorating the tree but it looks gorgeous!! And Jennifer I love your shirt!! So much truth in that!! Thanks for sharing 😁
