I am adopted. I got bullied at school once over it and went crying to my father. He said..."What's the problem? You were chosen by us, they were accidents!! They're just jealous.." Never had another problem with it....

Lady C this was a delightful topic! My husband was adopted as a baby. His adopted mom was in her mid 30's. She always longed for children. She adored children and became a school teacher of younger children. She loved her son and he loved her so much. He stayed with her and helped with finances until he was 36 when he met me. She became my good friend and people thought she was my own mom when we went shopping together or went to lunch. We always planned to buy a big house and all live together. Sadly, she passed away this year. . Her son is the kindest man and smart with tools like Misha. A very manly man. I have always said you can tell what kind of a man a man is by the way he treats his mother and the animals around him. God bless you and your sons Lady C.

When I was 16 I had an unexpected pregnancy. I knew at that moment that this child was not "mine", but someone else's - adoption. I decided to go through a reputable agency (closed adoption at the time) and I received counseling and support. I did get to see my son several times while he was awaiting his new parents and I to this day do NOT regret my decision. I wanted to give this child a chance to be loved by a family that could give him what he needed at a time that I just couldn't. Thank you for this video. It has strengthened my decision of many many years ago.

Lady C ... what a treasure you are. And yes, in Australia, they still destroy children in the foster system. Adoption is very difficult. I saw it from the inside, and you're right, the system keeps people in a job. Monstrous. I wanted to adopt a family. Ended up having my own and illness followed. I just 'adopt' other young people who come into my scope. Your boy here is a treasure. To have a Russian heritage is also interesting. Hugs from Australia.

I was adopted. It took me 4 yrs to get away from them. I was 10 when I got adopted (long story) I wasn't allowed an independent thought and was not listened to or believed. They had me put in reform school. Bad mistake, I loved it & had a house mother who appreciated me and cared for me. I was with her until her death. Then it was a large group home, loved that and a few years later joined the Army. Had a good self made life.
Adoption does work for alot of people. For me it didn't, I do wish all of those adopted people out there. Make sure you have someone to talk to.

I have no doubt you mean well, so I say this with absolutely no malice.
With that being said, a child is special regardless if someone “wants” them or not.
Adoption is a beautiful act of love, but I think we should always teach our children that their worth has nothing to do with how other people feel about them.

I wish I would have known this ten years ago!! We were TURNED DOWN as parents... no baggage, no debt, no bad reci, no divorces- it was unbelievable. I turned against the adoption system then as it was obvious it was screwed up or corrupt or both. I feel for and pray for the poor children.... 😥

It was tough, but brought such great joy to me, my Son and all the children I cared for. I only stopped because of my ill health. Some Foster Carers went on to adopting children. This mat be something for you, if IVF doesn't work. I hope you have a child now. Their are so many children in need. Social Services are still a nightmare, but if you stay focused anything is possible. Blessings to you and your family xXx

I can't tell you how much I loved this discussion. The outpouring of love and admiration between you two was palpable. I am delighted that the good lord brought you together. Misha, I am a genealogist and work with a lot of people who have been adopted and I've found that some of them carry feelings of rejection by their birth families which brings great pain. I think most people don't want to bring up the discussion of adoption because it may bring these negative feelings to the surface. It's a subject I'm very careful of until I know how the adopted person feels about being adopted. You are such a loving son to your mother and I can see the love she has for you in her eyes. May you find a godly woman with whom to have children. Blessings!

Dear Lady C, Can you and Misha please create a video where you talk about what your day to day life is like at the castle, currently (summer and fall) during the quarantine? Is it quiet? You have done some wonderful documentaries in the past. One of my favorites is the dinner party you gave in London with a hired butler, and chef. And you also talked about hiring staff.
Now, it would be fun to learn little details about life at the castle during this quarantine. For example, Mickey is a lap dog. Is she also a bed buddy or does she sleep in her doggie bed? And what about your fabulous cats? Do you go to the local food shops yourself or does the grocer deliver? Do you and Misha cook? It would be fun if you and Misha take your cameras into the family kitchen and talk about food...! Hope you will consider it.

Thank you for such a lovely video. I was luckily adopted in 1967 by the most extraordinarily kind, loving and generous people who have unconditionally loved me all my life. Mum, couldn’t have her own children and grandma, like your daddy, was super cautious but my momma tells me that as soon as grandma saw me she too loved me like I’d been born to the family. Unfortunately not enough babies are adopted out these days and the message should be love your child enough to give it a better chance. Not to keep a baby, destroy it then have it put into care when you can’t cope. I totally agree with you Lady C. Thank you for your candid interview, the chord which it struck within me will resonate for the rest of the day x

Lady Colin Campbell and Misha, this is fascinating, because my family moved to St. Petersburg in January 1995 until early 2000, and my sister still lives there. She helped children who were living on the streets and orphanages for years, and it was very difficult for the Russian people during that time. There have been a lot of abuse stories involving children adopted from Russia, which has made it more difficult to adopt. At the same time things have gotten much better in Russia as far as care, and many children from the orphanages and the streets have been adopted into Russian families, and she still visits the orphanages that are still there, and they are much better looked after than they used to be during those years.
