Hi, lovelies! I really don't know how it's been 6 months since I last posted but all I can say is, that I've missed you all! Life happened but I thank God for everything! Also, my big chop was clearly overdue and I hope I can take you all on this new journey with me. Thank you all for your continuous support! Thank God you're still kicking Julie in what ever your going through your hair will grow back again take care of yourself boo love you glad to see you beautiful ❤️❤️
For me, the term “big chop” only applies to those who plan to start over (be it after a relaxer, hair color, heat damage, or whatever) and re-grow their hair. I had my hair cut VERY short in my mid 20s with every intention of wearing it short and *keeping* it short for an indefinite period, which I did for over a decade. I did and do not consider that a “big chop”. I just cut my hair short. ❤️
@@Igbocurls: Sometimes I feel disappointed when I see Black women on social media cutting their hair short only to grow it right back. I know I’m wrong. 😂 But short hair really is a whole VIBE! And much more versatile than people give it credit for. I believe we, especially as Black women, are often afraid of having short hair and buy into the stereotype that it’s masculine, unattractive, and not sexy. Here in the states, little Black girls with short hair were often called names like “bald-head”, “chicken head” and other pejoratives. We really need to educate ourselves about our hair and it’s history and that our crown is always a crown 👑 in all its incarnations. Many women are even more beautiful with short hair because it accentuates the face. Anyway, all the best to you!!! 💜💜💜💜
@@hereforit2347 True hun, girl, I used to be attached to my hair no more. I cut off my locs in 2017 grew out a nice thick afro until last year 2021. I cut my hair really short like a cesar cut and everytime I tell myself I'm going to grow it back I don't. I love love rocking my short hair.
I love your channel!!! I had to cut my hair from shoulder length to a tapered cut. Now my hair is the longest it's ever been after having a simple routine, protective styles without added hair, and patience. I can't wait to see your journey!!
Its great to see you back on here. In a way its fortunate that you went through this although it must have been a blow to you. I only say this (respectfully because there are many women who go through the same thing and have no idea how to deal with it. Many vloggers like yourself usually have beautiful long natural flowing glowing hair and never have any problems or issues with keeping it that way, so it shows that it can happen to anyone at anytime. I'm not happy this happened to you but right now, I know you will do a great job in helping even more of the silent people who are in the same position right now. Have a blessed weekend and thanks for being so honest about things.
This is interesting to know. Rice water was definitely a trend. It has its benefits but it certainly doesn't work for everyone. I only tested and had an allergic reaction to it so I don't use it.
Such a big step, I also took this step in 2020 and now my hair has grown so much that I don't regret it at all. Your hair will definitely grow back longer and better soon👍.
Bless you for sharing this! I have been natural for 27 years, but have been recently experiencing this with no concept of a solution. A big chop of natural-to-natural (thin to thick) This is really so helpful!! By us for us wisdom!
Honestly our mothers and grandmothers should have been able to discover ways of taking care of natural hair rather than perming it or using a stretching comb as they used to then. Honestly if I had known this as a younger woman my hair would not have been damaged as I had nice luxurious hair down to my neck as a young lady in my 20's and 30's. Now this middle aged woman discovered natural hair care about 6 years ago and is now struggling to grow it back but slowly and surely it is coming back. My hair follicles are being reactivated. Thank God:)
I just halved the original length of my hair in June. Had to get rid of dead ends. Now my hair is doing better, less tangles, looks thicker and committing to professional trims every 3/4 months
I have the same issue, I've been struggling whether to cut my hair or not. For now I've decided to braid my hair and leave it alone till I get to the root of why the thinning is happening. I feel like my thinning has to do with my internal health as opposed to external factors . Found out I have low iron and vitamin d deficiency. I'm working on getting those numbers back to normal before chopping my hair. So the thinning doesn't come back again.
Welcome backkkkk Chinwe🤗🤗. You can't imagine the joy I felt when I saw your video. I didn't realise I missed your videos so much especially your intro "hello lovelies" and your big smile. It's gorgeous girl! This is why I follow you. True, honest depiction of your hair. By the way, this length is gorgeous on you. You have such a gorgeous face, you can pull off ANY length 😘
My hair started to thin. I started taking the collagen peptide powder & it thickened back up hallelujah!!! About our mid 20s or so our collagen production begins to slow and does so gradually every year. The hydrolyzed collagen has the essential amino acids to rebuild collagen from the inside out. I take about 12 to 20 grams a day. The unflavored powdered bone broth will do the same. There are plenty of videos on RUclips about the collagen. Improves hair skin nails and joints. PS Hydrolyzed & peptide same thing.
@@Ebizzill there could be but as far as I know collagen comes from animals. 🤔 I’m like 97% carnivore so I have no idea about vegans. There is salmon bone broth from sun cow grass.
You’re still gorgeous girl. Setbacks are part of the journey but you’re weathering this one like a champ. I got into the rice water fad and lost 2-3 inches. I think I was so grateful to know what caused the breakage that cutting it was a relief. 2020 to now has been Stress Full. A lot of bad things happened in a very short period of time. Praying that we learn and grow to better places from here on. God bless. Keep doing what you do.
Thank you for your transparency! It's honestly so refreshing! I'm one of the OGs you were referring to, though I was following you on a different channel (browneyed) and I remember when you switched from focusing on length to volume. I remember that volume video clearly, not just because of the remarkable increases in volume, but your infectious joy. You truly are beautiful, inside and out. My two cents - have you considered microlocs or Sisterlocks? You retain all the benefits of loose natural hair (including styling versatility) but without the stress of having to detangle or use product. It's an ENTIRELY product-free, comb free lifestyle. Check out our channel for more information if you're interested and blessings on this new journey 💕
This is my opinion, I noticed after using synthetic braiding hair that my mother & daughters hair became so thin , I also have noticed a lot of women stating they are having thinning hair. Think about this, money is needed and our hair was growing so much, at some point we wouldn't need added hair. How do you keep them coming back , make their hair shorter so they have to buy the product to have long hair. Use human braiding hair is my opinion. A little costly but it shouldn't break off your hair hopefully. Stay woke yall
Maybe you should binge all the videos from when your hair was thick so that you remember how to get your hair back thick and flourishing again, I am going through the same thing as a 19 year old but I found the main cause of the thinning, I kept cutting my hair with no improvement, but now it’s thickened a bit with the trims so I’ll protective style and leave it alone
I'm experiencing the same thing. I used to have sparse hair. My hair is fine and thin but ive learnt to grow it more dense. The thickness is just at the roots, so my ends look thinner because of the new growth of hair follicles, and now i don't know whether to cut everything or trim little by little. Any advice on that??
I wish I can share a picture in this comment but I can't. I want you to know that you are my biggest motivation. When I started my journey, I had no idea about anything but I stumbled upon you on Instagram and your videos helped give me clarity on how to care for my hair. Thank you. I look forward to seeing those long, think strands again soon.
