I very much agree with you guys. American mediums are too fair and balanced for todays meta, which sadly makes them completely irrelevant and bad. I'd love to see French heavy autoloaders, AMX 50B tree. Should that happen, I wish you happy suffering :).
Sad to see what happened to the American mediums. They used to be really good all-round tanks. One could say they were average and that wouldn't be a lie, actually. But that their averageness allowed them to perform decently on all maps, unlike specialist tanks that were great in specific scenarios.
It's like the American turreted TD line vs the STRV line. The STRV is really good on certain maps and absolute trash on most of the maps, while the worse American TDs perform about the same on all the maps.
American mediums were an enjoyable experience for me, honestly. Tier 7 and 9 I did rather well, once I balanced aggression and safety. My favorite part was playing 0 games in the Pershing. That rocked.
When I started world of tanks many years ago, I went for the American tanks for that reason. They're the Swiss army knife of tanks. Nothing exceptional in one category. Distinctly Joe average. And yet, they worked well. In today's world of tanks, they do feel underwhelming which is a shame. I'd like to see what you think of the pershing post buff. Equally American Heavies would be great to see at some point.
This line is enjoyable in the early years of this game. Now it is severely powercreeped, and nerfed when it came to using the derp guns thanks to people spamming HEAT and then with the HE changes. It is extremely hard to do well with the Jumbo Sherman in its historical config. The M4 and E8's 76mm needs to have the damage and penetration of the 17lber at the cost of DPM because DPM means nothing when you cannot pen outside of spammimg speshul rounds and require constant shooting. Power creep with the T20 and Pershing with its 240 alpha 90mm gun when guns of the same caliber and even lower caliber like German 88 on the Tiger 1 can get 280 alpha. Overall one of the oldest lines is heavily power creeped thanks to WGs inability to balance new vehicles and lines.
Been playing tanks since 2011 and still don't have a tier 10 to this day so watching you guys use skill at mid tiers is always satisfying. Next tech tree I'd say British TDs

It is where I feel WG drew the inspiration from to make the japanese TDs and even though it doesn't matter, but as a small historical bonus they all existed IRL, with cool prototypes such as the ISU-152 with the actual BL-10 (among others), which is on the uncommon side nowadays. Finally, the chinese mediums! I feel that this line, despite its fault of suffering from poor module health is quite underrated and could do with a little bit more exposition.

See you say you dont recommend going down the line but i always find myself going back to the 48 patton when i want to do consistently well and have fun and actually have an impact in the match. Its gun is great. If you use its Gun depression you can bounce shells on the turret, its mobility is great (when you run a turbo) Its gun handling doesnt really need to be changed with equipment. Sometimes a good allround vehicle is exactly what people need.
Every tank in the game has its fans, doesn't necessarily mean it's a good tank. I love the Type 5 myself and consistently perform in it, but I can recognize that it will definitely be a huge pain for most people. /Zwhatsh

It is a very good scout if the map/MM allows for it. I 3-marked my T20 with a secondary scout build. Just be careful with all the ELC evens in the matchmaker (or most tier 8/9 lights that will destroy you because they can use CVS) and you'll be fine :)

M48 Patton Was my first T10, (currently my only non premium Tier 10 tank) but idk you guys seemed to have undersold it. i just Rammer, Vents, and Turbo, and i have sami-decent DPM and if you get in the right position you can do a LOT of damage. Anyway Other than that i agree and i love the video keep it up guys.
Oh man... you guys playing the Pershing... that's bad memories. Not sure if you still can, but the 105MM Derp was basically a viable option because of how bad that 90MM is lmao

Yeah the M4A3E8, T20, and the M26 Pershing could have been fun if they had - armor - accuracy - pen - alpha The entire experience is raging against enemies at the far side of the map who don't even know you're there because you keep missing. They're not short-range, nor are they long-range tanks. I'll stick to my M47 Iron Arnie and M60 thx. Next tech tree, would love to see the Grille 15 line! Love the T6-T9! :D

I loved playing it, I remember, I had a battle where I had 10 kills, and I could not destroy the final enemy on the enemy team (it was 1v1 at that point), and lost... Anyway, the M46 Patton was a significant downgrade compared to what the Pershing was before.

God IS3 is terrible, the last time it was good the doom turtle went 13 km/hr. It does look super sexy tho, historical soviet tanks have fabulous default models
I am on a quest to master the Pershing. I have already 3-Marked my M4A1 just before the HE nerfs came Also this line was literally my first line that I went down to and completed. I still suck at the M48A5, but nothing a bit of practice won't help
I'm a proud peasant then^^ A fire extinguisher is more usefull for me than a slight stat boost. Because I'm bad and minimal stat boost wouldn't get me better results^^
M4A1 Sherman: 7/10 nice HE M4A3E8: 6/10 good dpm, obsolete armor T20: 2/10 terrible armor, ammo rack, and gun (always need premium) decent spotting Pershing: 2/10 hell to get through… but okay spotting. M46 Patton: 6/10 hard hitter dpm, half dependable turret, good traverse, no hull armor, good spotting. M48 Patton: 9/10 decent gun, great dpm, decent turret armor, great traverse, great spotting, mediocre hull (don’t try side scraping). This branch being the first one I ground to tier X, I hate the T20 and Pershing. The other tanks are bearable. My favorites are their V and X for their flexibility.

I love the patton but i do wish it had a little more camo. Mine is sitting at like 20% while still and like 11% moving. Its not any larger than a leo 1 and my leo has 35% moving camo and 44% still
I honestly found the 9 better than the 8 and kinda worth just to blitz around in. At Tier 10 you get punished so hard for any errors (which i found happened less at tier 9, like you could still do your job, make a mistake or two and get away with it) though I always laughed really hard when an FV4005 didn't pen my EBR 105's wheels.
Not seeing the T20 dump here. If you played all tier 9 games while in it you are going to have a bad experience. That wouldn't change with any tier 7 playing all tier 9 games. The T20 is a beast. The M46 is also a hidden gem, imo.

The 9 and 7 are demons imo, especially the 9. My second f all time favorite t9 behind the cs-59. You can tell I like my brawling dpm meds lol

E8 was legitimately one of my favorite tanks in WOT. Also the E2, but for a whole different set of reasons.

Been years since I played the Pershing. Didn't realize it was this bad in the current game. Would have thought the recent buffs would have helped.
Tier 10 isn't bad at all. Good gun and shells. Armor is OK, but now awesome.
I'd say maybe the German lights - the Rhm Pzw is very strong now (especially with the automatic unflipping)

I grinded them so long ago that the M46 still had a paper turret and the Patton still had the old giant tumor.

I did grind this line with 105HE until unlock M46. Then, M60 got buff and put on bond shop.
