I see so many videos of guys plowing fields that have been obviously tilled or worked before, good job on really tilling fresh land, that's what I call IMPRESSIVE, good going guys.
I love that old MF12! I have a dilapidated one on my farm and seeing yours running, makes me want to put some work into mine! You've even got the original engine in it! What a brute and a beaut too!
I just stumbled upon this video. All I can say is awesome. I love those older tractors. One time I gave a guy 130 dollars for a 1976 Allis Chalmers 808 GT. It needed some work and I didn't end up keeping it. It didn't have its original engine in it.
Virginia soil is as tough as it gets. Well done. Then comes the bouncy part. Running the brinly harrow to flatten the soil and blend it. And I usually have to harrow in a checkerboard pattern.
Agreed. Get a big, heavy rock and chain it securely on the plow. Make plowing the gardon much easier, especially when your plowing the ground for the first time. When the first row is completed, pick the plow up with your hydraulics if you have them, or if you don't, pick the plow up manually and your ready to go for your next row to plow.
Good stuff dude. Next time spray the grass dead first though. That way it wont come back, keeps weeds down and your small plow will slice through the sod easier.
i receltly plowed to losen up some rerally hard ground and mabey to plant with my sears craftsman 2 with 18hp under the hood. i had to get a couple weights from my john deere 5310 tokeep the front end down! if you have it in 2/3 throttle or more them hydros will take off and work all day any day of the week!
This popped up in my topic list, and I thought why not? looks like a weight was needed on the plow, and rear wheels, although traction was OK for the driving speed.
You said roots suck and that's the truth.... did your plow cut through the tree roots? It looks like you would have run into some fairly large ones close to those trees. I'm in central Texas and have lost our two OLD big trees to the drought. The trees were cut down almost two years ago, but when I was going to dig holes last month for some new trees, we ran into old roots that I THOUGHT would have been disintegrated by now. I have a tiller, but no plow. Yes, I'm an older woman trying to dig through roots with a shovel. I told my son to just use the tiller (it IS one of the mid to large size Troybilts), but he said the dead roots would tear up the tiller.... Just wondering if that blade you used had any trouble with getting through roots. Thanks for your thoughts on this!
you need a sleve hitch for the rear end of your lawn tractor or riding lawn mower and a single bottom moldboard plow sears ebay and sportsman guide all have them new sleeve hitch bout 150 from sears 400 for the plow then dont forget about the disk harrow for when your finished plowing 200 maybe all this is way way cheaper used on ebay though
How do you attach something like that to your tractor? i have a husqvarna gth2254xpa and I dont know how i would attach something like that to it. Id like to plow a garden but im not sure how to do it yet.
no his pass wasnt wrong if you want to go down and back thats the way to do it if you want to go down and drive all the way back not plowing you do one pass up and do again he should have been over more on his second pass i learned for well seasoned plowers who did it with horses then tractors
Id really want to own one for a day again never thought i d miss it so much b4 i started watching this :)). I never tried to plow with it tho didnt even cross my mind thinking abt the size and power. Can anyone tell me the what brand these are and the HP?
If I did that now would it just have alot of weeds in sweet corn garden should I round up the grass first? Or pough it over and till will work same without round up?
+eric mcclelland think I would rather lay out some tarps/cardboard/newspaper, anything to kill any vegetation below it before spraying roundup, cause putting that stuff in an area I am planing to try an grow a garden in is not my idea of smart.
jase davids yes round up the hell out of it wait for about three weeks then round up it again !!!! the cardboard or tarp trick works nice but then all the seeds will sprout as soon as you uncover it !! after the first couple years the weeds gradually be come less of a problem !!!
True that. I don't think they knew you start one furrow one way, then move over a few feet and then start a furrow going the opposite way. I believe they should have done more research before plowing.
They have found that round up is causing cancer and is extremrly dangerous to use. This information was brough up on Coast to Coast with George Norrie last night.

Very nice plowing job! Those garden tractors and old plows work great!

most satisfying thing in the world is tractor plowing
It's just like watching Farmville if they ever made it a reality TV show! :D
You guys make so much work look so much fun!!
Wow, a quarter of a million people watched these guys ploughing their garden. Stick in a couple of ads and you'd have a TV show.
the massey moved fast enough to roll the sod over.neat
i remember plowing my first garden i used a 1989 craftsman 2. had to use my nephews weight set to hold down the front end.
Quick Tip: Put a weight on the plow and it will sink into the ground better.

Seems like some angle adjustment on the mould board might help pull it into the ground, too.
The little tractor that could! cool.
Excellent job gentlemen! Excellent job!
Nice tractors i have an old international harvester
I like that antique Bolens!
Sure is an old one, isn't it!
That's not fast. That's gettin' her done!
impressive !!!
Somewhere, someone ploughing a field with an ox will see this video and cry
Good stuff dude. Next time spray the grass dead first though. That way it wont come back, keeps weeds down and your small plow will slice through the sod easier.
Then whatever you sprayed the grass with will be in the soil...

Yup. Roots take FOREVER to rot haha
With a slightly larger tractor you can plow with a double gang turning plow.
I need to figure out how to attach a plow to my Craftsman garden tractor.
Did ya get the plow hooked up to the tractor
very nice massey like the bolens more it just needed more wieght on the rear
You could of cut that grass up with a sod cuter and sell the sod for a lot of money!
Leaving the grass in the flipped dirt will help nutrients in the ground
AWESOME!
at the end of the video a great soundtrack)))
Good luck with that garden next to all those trees. You will be watering watering and watering tons just to get a few veggies.............
sweet, I hope to be doing the same with my 582 cub
Im looking for all the 3 point parts I need now.
Nice 👍 I like this I need to try this at the land

I would like to see how the manual lift is built & attached ? I want to build one for my garden tractor.
How HP engine of tractor?
nice!thats a good size garden!
Great... Enjoyed it... I Subscribed
What woud you do if you had a lot of bushes in yor land? You had to cut them of firts, or you would just plow it?
Since most garden tractors dont have down pressue, take the cookie cutter off,You,ll notice a difference.
Grandpa dont give a shit, out there broke leg and all
How do you attach something like that to your tractor? i have a husqvarna gth2254xpa and I dont know how i would attach something like that to it. Id like to plow a garden but im not sure how to do it yet.
Nice!!
How do you know its Briken? It might just be Broken...
What did you use to smooth and prep the soil after plowing?
NICE!!!!
no his pass wasnt wrong if you want to go down and back thats the way to do it if you want to go down and drive all the way back not plowing you do one pass up and do again he should have been over more on his second pass i learned for well seasoned plowers who did it with horses then tractors
Nice video. Is the Brinley plow a 10 or 12?
Adjust the cookie cutter down to cut the sod in front of the plow...
i have a question on the massey 12 what are the dimensions on the lift arm of the hitch
look great
Id really want to own one for a day again never thought i d miss it so much b4 i started watching this :)). I never tried to plow with it tho didnt even cross my mind thinking abt the size and power. Can anyone tell me the what brand these are and the HP?
The video description says they are a Bolens 600 and Massey MF12 garden tractors
soaringtractor Get cancer plz fckn moron.
soaringtractor Haha ok lucky for you sir. :))
Just need a 200hp tractor and a 7furrow pole and then you might get something done
looks like a bolens and the front has 6 letters on it
did you switch plows or just tractors
Thats it im getting a plow
No roots? very lucky!
If I did that now would it just have alot of weeds in sweet corn garden should I round up the grass first? Or pough it over and till will work same without round up?
jase davids you could spray the weeds with roundup now and wait 4 weeks then plow, make sure you fertilize before you work it up.
+eric mcclelland think I would rather lay out some tarps/cardboard/newspaper, anything to kill any vegetation below it before spraying roundup, cause putting that stuff in an area I am planing to try an grow a garden in is not my idea of smart.

i dont think you are going to fast then you get all the dirt away.
That guy should mot be driving with a briken leg. LOL

Joao Feliciano yep
how to ruin your lawn
And a wig
joão Azevedo Mendes at
joão Azevedo Mendes you don't think that's what he had that walking cast on for do you ?
if you think thats fast watch speed plowing on utube guy almost rolls tractor over
Nice grass too bad you plowed it all up.
Why dose ever one try plowing in high gear ?
Garden in the shad
Lets see you do this with those junkie, stupid zero turn radius mowers. To me, they are worthless. TRACTORS RULE!
Vad hedder du
that is bad ls ploughing the grass should not be visible after ploughing it should get turned all the way over.
Cool
your right side tires should be in the furrow
nope, i bet his right side tire is the drive tire, gets caught in the mud easier
The elves didn't fix SECOND gear? Try first gear, then.
City slickers attempting to plow.
True that. I don't think they knew you start one furrow one way, then move over a few feet and then start a furrow going the opposite way. I believe they should have done more research before plowing.
needs a cub with hydraulics
so learn how to plow first, total wrong direction for really turning soil overall, makes me sad. But good effort overall!
+mickey barber awesome small tractor plowing skills, dont take me wrong by my last comment, i love this video:)
si può mettere la fresa
This is extremely dangerous on a multitude of levels
@Cody Freeman and stupid
Well o is next to i on the key board and when i did this comment it was on my iphone so it is quite easy to press the wrong one!!!

Needs hydraulics.
JOHN DEERE
k
this is the 21st century forget this use round-up
Indiana Row Crop roundup pollutes the soil. And the grass can be used as green manure
They have found that round up is causing cancer and is extremrly dangerous to use. This information was brough up on Coast to Coast with George Norrie last night.
On an organic garden?
wtf fuck. its all suppost to go one way. not down and up hil just up hill.
Youre doing it wrong.
How tho?
