Doc's down-tilt can actually hit an opponent very close behind him and send them forward instead of backward. It usually is not the intended effect, but could have some use.
Doc can also Double-Aerial in a short hop. If you get the Bair out of the short hop frame-perfect and don't fast fall you will get the Nair out as an active hitbox that can connect on the target. This is actually a sick approach on a lot of the cast as the Nair will be so low to the ground that it pokes under the shield a lot of the time and you have already crossed them up with the Bair so the shield have taken some damage. And since the Nair is weak at start up this can lead to crazy stuff at higher percents.
something I think is important about the cape is that it stalls your aerial momentum forwards and backwards as well, which makes it so that 1. it's a good habit to cape as soon as you're out of hitstun offstage, resetting your momentum so you spend less time moving away from the stage. 2. you sometimes will want to refrain from cape offstage when you're drifting closely towards the ledge, since this will result in a net loss of horizontal movement. ie: you're drifting near the sweetspot for up-B and cape while you're falling towards the exact region. you stopped your descent but stalled your forward momentum, so you'll fall just short of the ledge. tldr cape early when offstage
Damn I can't believe I watched this video so late, i remember seeing the 2018 video and practicing up b cancels for hours when I had just picked up melee. Now that we have good online I might try to pick him up again, good stuff man
Love the videos! Next additions to docs vid should be the down b perfect timing which is every two frames for max height or every 5 or 6 frames for almost max height (much easier) and also show off how doc can angle his up b with a quick half circle forward for horizontal distance. His normal up b being 60 degrees and angled being 45 degrees Edit: I forgot to add that his upsmash* is actually a spike on grounded opponents leaving them in tumble. useful on any of the characters dr Mario can't chaingrab for more consistent Fair kill setups
If you are like fast as you can be you can also get the triple aerial with Short hop instant upair and jump right before you land. Can jump before you land and wavedash off the upair as well.
Thanks so much for the video bro. It would be amazing if you could make a pdf for every character with this info in. With like screen grabs and stuff. I’d use that all the time
Really new to melee and I would like to know if there is a discord server where we can gather all the informations about doc's tech and data like they put up with ultimate characters Great video (althought I don't understand how to perform every tech).
There is a Doctor Mario Melee discord, I’m not active on it but if they work like some other character discord’s they likely have an info gathering channel and it seems they like to compile a lot of info discussion channels there atm. Here’s the link to it discord.gg/CHVJuJYKSK
A lot of tech is in these videos that you haven't mentioned here. Part 1 - ruclips.net/video/5-Jonwd-IFc/видео.html&ab_channel=Zer0ssbm Part 2 - ruclips.net/video/fx3_U4e84dU/видео.html&ab_channel=Zer0ssbm. Keep in mind that these videos only have Japanese commentary. I don't really understand what's going on in some parts but it should give the general concept at least for most of these just by watching.

Gotta love silly hitboxes

I just got Melee, and this is my best character and favorite one to use. Came here for some tips on how to use him
