He is not sharpening the blade but instead honing it. I dont know what he was trying to do when he was on the second step. Maybe removing burs on the blade. But here is a break down on the difference between honing and sharpening. Honing: This process realigns the bent or rolled edge of a knife without removing to MUCH metal. It's normally done for knifes that are already sharp, again to hone the blade and remove potentially small nicks and bends. Honing tools like V-shaped sharpeners often use ceramic rods or fine-grit abrasives to achieve this. Sharpening: This process removes MORE metal from the blade to create a NEW, sharper edge. This is typically done with coarser abrasives like whetstones or grinding wheels.
Oh, I forgot to add that most V-shaped honers have fixed angles. This can be good or bad, but mostly bad. The reason is that when you hone a blade, you want to maintain the existing edge, not change it. Changing the edge angle will actually dull the blade and make it cut poorly. Again, honing shouldn't remove a significant amount of metal. If you see a lot of metal shavings coming off while honing, you're not actually honing anymore; you're forcing a new edge to form. Remember, the goal of honing is to straighten the existing edge, not CREATE a new one.

Went to this fellow's website a few weeks ago, I couldn't determine how his sharpeners worked. Watched this video and realized what's he hawking - devices that will destroy your blade.
Super ! It’s can be watched again and again!
Respect homie that's how it's done 👍
I don't care how sharp it gets it, it gives me chills treating my$10 pocket knife that way lol she likes it show and steady, smooth strokes on both sides
Its supposed to suffice in a pinch and it does its a keychain it literally a back up and it does sharpen a knife bc its creating a burr thats half the battle would i use it on a 100$ knife not unless i had to but it works its just very coarse great for axe or machete.
My teacher was a old master that started working in a meat market before child labor laws at the age of 7-8,he could use a oiled tristone thats actualy rather difficult. The best sharpener he said he ever used was the one on the back of a can opener in the 70s tho. I later qent to work in a sushi bar and diacovered the Chinese butter stone, absolutely spectacular, surgicly razor sharp.
That staff actually worked
Where can I buy this? Send me a link.
I got couple stones and metallgrind-stick to sharpen knife on. had them for 12-15yr, Takes little more time.
I think stones and stick, and do it by hand are better.
Sharpening a knife is basic kitchen skills everyone should know. Why is this so interesting to people?
Its a dying art I guess
I can’t stop watching this!
That's good. From Brad Lee Buckner my self..... Thank you. Have a great day.
What kind of sharpener is it?
"I'm not gonna peel it too hard, like that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that" 😂
I want to say a 99% of all guys his age can do the same thing we were all taught
use the top edge of your car window or a glass coaster. slightly harder pressure to sharpen then softer to debur.
Only 10 secs needed.
He has you at OH OH!!! 😂😂 hustler move 😂😂
What is the best pocket knife to get ?
Bro, getting his blades sharpened for free by making it a game.
Give him more money dude. You must apreciate him
What's the difference between the different sharpeners you sell? Is there one for solid blades.. one for serrated blades? Or do they all work on all knives?
I've actually met this guy IRL! I bought one of the small key chain sharpeners, it's famtastic!
Nothing like destroying a knife. No professional would ever use a Walmart knife shaver. Stone and steel or nothing.
Look out, we triggered the knife experts
Does someone know the name of the knife and where i can buy it
Free knife sharpening💪🏻 awesome
Awesome!
Jacob Snell has some talent for sure
Ayee i have the same knife, i also got friends of mine the other colorways for Christmas.
Newsflash carbide sharpens but also removes way too much material.
send me some kind of link where I can buy knife sharpeners like that
He looks like Chuck Norris not surprised to see him sharpening knives
