Bad performance in college has consequences, you just don't feel them until you try to get a job which is not good for a young immature brain that lacks foresight and understanding of how the real world works.

Well... Im about to start a master degree, but let me listen the counter arguments and have them in consideration. Instead of reject by the title (that was my first reaction tbh)... I think you need to keep learning, regardless if is on your own on in a instintution. Degrees are just for a few years, where life itself is much longer, so... I dont think online courses are superior to all degrees, thats a huge generalization. I think it depends, and you can still do both and challange yourself in diferent ways, the adventure itself can be worth it a waste of money is to spend in destructive and irrelevant stuff and we do that anyways so...

I think these things don’t work in most third world countries. Education is a means to an end sometimes.

Yea tbh most people should go to college bc not going is essentially going into life without guardrails. It's really difficult to get all the information you need through self study only, and in this rough job market, companies are not inclined to hire people without degrees, they want some proof of competency that they can immediately see on a resume. And this whole idea that you should just be a self-starting entrepreneur is pretty ridiculous for the vast majority of people.
You can just go to community college for a couple years, then decide whether you want to transfer or do something else. Literally just attending community college at 18-22 makes you qualified enough for undergrad conferences and career fairs where it's a lot easier to get internships/connections.

@@sensid-iwnl-5201Even in America, people shit on the education system without ever even trying to make the most of it first. Frankly, the average 18 y/o cannot just self study to a competent level through RUclips only, and if they are, it will likely be disjointed and waste more time than if they went to a structured class. They should apply themselves a lot in at least some level of higher education at community college for a year before they decide they are wasting their time there. Yes, the institution doesn't care if you succeed or not, but really no institution ever does. But many of the professors and talented students within the institution DO care if you succeed, and are the only connections/mentors you can get while you are 18 with no existing social capital or useful skills.

Most people think of education as something like this. Go to college or university and get a degree. When there are also self-education, autodidacticism, and self-experimentation. Formal education may enable you for a living but self-education can enable you for fortune or even greatness.

College works if you work with it. If you do bare minimum and disconnect from education and don’t read books, listen to podcasts, and build experience on the side you are setting yourself up for failure. Most don’t get that the free time they get in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get ahead. I’m in college and that’s where this channel came from. And I’m working on student film as well. Currently finishing up a script to starts in the spring semester. Should be fun.

No hate to you but I cannot imagine progressing through courses and enjoying an “insider” institution. I’m in hs and despise it and do not want to go to college but I would rather do double the work to learn a skill than do some course so that a company can look at a certification for security in my abilities.

bro college gets you to be good at a lot of things , its just maybe dont deal with some other aspects of actual life and the real world!. but ItS CRAZY to say that ''it doesnt make you good at anything'' how do you think the best engenering and medicine people are made in the world ? or how have we developed physics and the WORLD that you can make this videos you live in!. To be real a lot of carrers you dont NEED COLLEGE and that is i think were you are trying to go ! which i agree!, but for a category of carrers that actually are pretty NECCESARY DIMENSIONS to keeep society RUNNING AND WORKING you do NEED COLLEGE .... its just that you dont neeed college if you are gonna be in something creative , entreprenurial or other!. But a certain protocol that college gives you do need it!....THIS EXTREME thinking now days with everything!...its CRAZY jajaja you are etheir a MUSLIM OR YOU ARE IN A SATANIST CULT AND THERES NO IN BETWEEN!.

I mean if you want to be a doctor or lawyer, you have to go to college. College is too expensive these days but the idea of college isn’t a bad one. It just needs to be cheaper. Trades or starting your own business are also great options.

I loved school, I just couldn't continue to afford it. I have trained in disciplined spaces, just to watch those organizations crumble from the inside. I have tried to do what is asked of me within corporate infrastructures and, time & time again, I am overlooked and unattended to. The loud, obnoxious, selfish, over-educated, shallow and indecisive excel instead. I can not, and will not, be those things. I have to learn to work for myself, because I don't have a choice. The "guild" notion is sticky, and worth exploring. Thank you for your wisdom.
