    TDM, what's your favorite clay/wax ever? I'm still looking for the holy grail: matt and firm hold. Morris Motley is quite good in that regard.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle 6 лет назад +1

      That’s a tough question! I haven’t tried Morris Motley yet, but I really want to get myself some once it’s back in stock. I think honestly my favorite is still Baxter’s clay pomade, in terms of being all around good in every category. There are a lot of great clays now though, and so many I still have to try!

    Hello, Can you compare Lockhart`s Fire And Brimstone Matte Clay and Cavalier Clay from the point of hold factor? Thanks.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle 6 лет назад +1

      +Vanilla They’re a similar hold, though I find Lockhart’s easier to apply. It’s waxier and smoother, where Cavalier can be a bit sticky. Tough to say, but Lockhart’s might be a slightly stronger hold.

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle 6 лет назад

      +Lenin Sebastian Argan oil is my personal favorite. Coconut oil is good too, but it has a lower smoke point so you don’t want to use it before applying heat.

      +Quang Anh Bui There are a ton out there. Depends on what sort of hold and finish you’re after. Bond Paste by TheSalonGuy is a nice medium hold one for example.

  • @kevszkar01

    How much stronger this clay compared to their original matte clay? cuz it really hard to find this product in the other hand matte clay available for me to purchase and i can't decided choosing between matte clay or cavalier clay . Your vid is getting better man 2 thumbs up

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle 6 лет назад +1

      +Kevin Karnoto I haven’t used the regular matte clay yet, so I can’t say definitively. Lockhart’s did say they made this one a bit stronger so if they haven’t updated their regular formula, this is probably slightly more of a firm hold than the regular’s medium/medium-firm.

    Matt, could you describe your haircut here? I can tell it's an undercut but something about is so well-blended and I can put my finger on it even pausing/examining it repeatedly LOL

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle Год назад +1

      I think this was basically a blended undercut that had grown in for a couple of weeks. Looks like I probably did around a no. 2 guard on the sides, and had about 5-6 inches of hair at the top (front) and tapered shorter towards the back. And scissor/shear blended between the top and sides. Hope this helps!

    Don't tell me that this can be compared to Blumaan's Cavalier Clay. I have bought Apothecary 87 Clay Pomade twice which is compared to the original Lockhart's matte clay by Robin James and I really loved the clay pomade from Apothecary 87.
    I haven't bought neither this nor the original Lockhart's Matte Clay, do you think it's necessary to buy both of them? I'm thinking about Fire & Brimstone but somehow afraid that it won't work for my hair due to beeswax being the first ingredient because the Cavalier Clay from blumaan has the same first ingredient (which didn't work for me) so I'm thinking of buying the original matte clay as a reserve if incase fire and Brimstone didn't work. What do you think? Unnecessary or a good idea? If you say unnecessary you're gonna save me from spending few more dollars! I also would love to know if there's any other product that can be compared to Fire & Brimstone as well

    • @TDMStyle
      @TDMStyle 3 года назад

      To be honest I haven't used F&B since this review, so I'm not sure if the formula has changed at all since then. I was actually planning on buying it again myself this year to see just that. I've never used their regular matte clay though so I'm not sure how that one compares - sorry! As far as A87 and Cavalier though. I can say that for me, A87 was much oilier straight away, and Cavalier got heavier and greasier as the day went on.

    • @alialjunaid716
      @alialjunaid716 3 года назад

      @@TDMStyle I have the same issue with Cavalier Clay but as of Apothecary 87 I have found out that it works perfectly if I use a shampoo before applying it, but if I apply it without having a shower it turns completely oily and more like as if I applied an oil to my hair. So I guess I will blindly try Fire & Brimstone to see if it works for my hair or not

    • @1Osiris101
      @1Osiris101 3 года назад

      I rate Fire and Brimstone Matte Clay above Cavalier Clay. It gives a more natural look. With Cavalier Clay, my hair ends up having too much volume and end up looking like I was electrocuted. It's impossible to decrease without an oil base to my hair. But F & B Matte Clay, I don't get that, and my hair looks more alive and natural. Although it's matte, it looks like normal hair. With Cavalier and other clays, my hair looks dead and too dull. I can't afford that look in my profession. When I do use other clays, my hair is a distraction, as I noticed that people are staring at my hair. I don't get that with F& B Matte Clay. The last thing I need is to not be taken seriously because of my hair.
