Does it still die after several days of uptime (even if the snapshots on the root volume are deleted and turned off)?

Of course it will not die. Clean up vol0 as much as you can. It’s a test environment. I think.

@@uadmin i tried to, i even added several disks to aggr0 and gave vol0 at least three times more space, but after 3-4 days the simbox died :). I don't know if the hypervisor was the reason - i ran it on a esxi 6.7 as far as i remember. Since that time i just use ontap select in trial mode and try not to reboot it :).

@@mrliljonkvast9692 esxi cannot be the reason. I am not talking about ontap select however. In the barebone simulater you should not have that problem. Make sure vol0 has enough space. (get rid of the snapshot schedule and get rid of the automated backup files in vol0) In fact, get rid of all automatically created logs. Remember, it is the actual version you are running, so get rid of all things that you don't need for testing. Or, of course, add another disk to the root aggregate or two, and follow this procedure. This will still give you enough room to for example create a bucket or two. Kind regards, peter

      Have you checked this?

Also, you could replace the 1GB root aggr disks with larger disks. 😁

@@uadmin thanks for the link. What i did in my lab was deleting snapshots on vol0, deleting the snapshot schedule and resizing vol0. And that didn't help, and the simbox lived not more than a week.
What i did not tried - it was log removing. For now i can't check this out, as i have no access to permanently running lab, but i'll try to check later. Thanks for the advise!
