This video is a little all over the place, but I tried to give at least something to each developer type out there! I've listed the resources. Also - comment and help me get to 100k! Anything you guys would like me to elaborate on in a future video?

Hey Josh what do I have to do for you to review my portfolio and destroy it to pieces in one of your videos. Loved the video btw :)
Hey Josh, been watching many of your vids lately and I have 1 question for you or anyone else that wants to reply - Are there any specific places I should be looking for in order to get experience working with small teams or just more people than myself? I've gone the self-taught route and I'm lacking the "works with a team" part of my resume. I feel like I shouldn't apply for any jobs yet because I've only worked on solo projects. Thanks!

These quality videos came out of nowhere lol, completely in love with them!
Thank you for making development, web development specifically, accessible in a tactful way! I’m so sick of people in the industry acting as gatekeepers to the field as a whole.
All your videos are so informative. Thank you for making them all amazing and helpful.
So going to school for and working in the veterinary field I found myself not really being able to handle holding down aggressive 150lb dogs or euthanasias anymore so I found myself looking into coding. I’ve learned HTML5 and CSS3 and I’m onto JavaScript now. These videos are so helpful for me, really. I’m pretty clueless about the tech world lol. You’re helping a lot of people. Thank you!!
How are you doing now Kate?
@@franklinclinton2861 hi!! So my journey learning code lead me to learning about UI which I really loved, and then lead me to a random job doing database work at a marketing firm. So not quite coding like how I’d planned BUT coding and learning did lead me to that job I have today!
@@seokermom Glad things are working out for you
what about now :0 ?
@@Djawedui see above reply :)
In January, I had zero programming knowledge. I've learnt HTML, CSS, JS.
I'm learning React now!
Awesome!
but how good you are to be a job ready, you spent 5-6 months learning,

Where did you learn? What’s your preferred tech stack?
@@anthonycapo1998 Web Development, I used just HTML/CSS for 2 years before jumping to basic JS but most of my works looks like I use alot of js but they are all just CSS, learned all from RUclips and building projects on my own, currently learning React.js now
Starting html5 on freecodecamp now.
Sweet thats the way to do it.
Dude look up pomodoro technique of learning. I recently heard about it and I’m trying to use it while learning. Btw I’m also on freecodecamp but on the projects portion of responsive web design certification , having a little problems with css positioning at the moment. So keep hustling.
P.s: if you have problems understanding anything traversymedia on RUclips has a crash course on html which i found extremely helpful.

Just now seeing these replies. I appreciate y'all! I'll definitely add and follow those mentioned channels
Not sure I how much I can stress these words: "Thank you."
I've been looking for some direction for some time (been following a bunch of code bloggers/ content creators, mostly over RUclips) and I feel like this video has been one of the more influential ones due to the fact you give us both short-term vision and long-term, including outside just the job search.
Hope you have a great day.
WOW! This one video answered like all of my questions about what to do after i'm done with my basic training. I know I need to start working on my portfolio soon, but what to do after that? Well, this video actually answered that! Love it!
Can u do a dedicated vid for remote jobs.. especially which tech stack is most asked for etc.. and how dev work like on trello, slack and ver soon controls etc etc
There's always something new to learn in web development... Trust me I've been doing it since 2000 .. always something new popping up
I come from a graphic design background and learned code to save face to keep my job. In my current experience I notice tons of devs don't even know how to properly code css and html. It is either hard-coded embedded css, the whole layout is done in tables (without proper thead, th etc) with tons of floats, clear fixes and absolute positions on everything and they use complex JS to do something that could have easily been done with one line of css. Also nothing they do is consistent , a form for example is coded one way on one page the next its completely different.
Its very frustrating to say the least I am the one task to make all this look pretty with unrealistic deadlines and often find I have to rewrite everything just to make the styling work correctly.
Wow, sounds like a joyless experience. You're learning great skills, though. Hope you're in a much better role now.
@@diradeb yeah I was shortly let go after that thwn got a job that uses vue js which had a great foundation to start with so it was easier to jump in. Unfortunately though due to covid I am now the only frontend dev for 3 teams so I have the work of 3 people now.

Hi Joshua! Thanks for the video, It´s very important to me to receive the information that you give to us. I´m changing my carrer at 28 years old to development, keep those good and honestly videos.
I've been on RUclips for about 6 to 9 years now, And you're the best thing I've ever found here. Thanks for the kind of information you're sharing with us.
Man, these uploads are packed with so much value and useful information. Thank you for taking the time out to try and help point us in the right direction man.
For the last 5 months i've been grinding hard odin's project full stack course (rails, html, css, js, react, more) and I'm about to finish it and every day I feel a bit more insecure, or this kind of 'imposter syndrome', where some days I feel I know nothing, or some projects take much more than what I think they should. This video helped me a lot because I didn't have really clear what was the next step and I feel much safer now. It also helped me to know that you were 24 when you started. I'm 24 right now :)
Thanks Joshua
Edit after watching 30 more seconds of video: I also felt insecure about learning Rails because it's not the favorite nowadays but your 'go against the current until you get your first paycheck' advice helped me twice
Thanks again
Exactly what I needed to hear…..nice work man
You offer a huge amount of valuable reference material and resources that really go a long way
Thank you for providing so much value in each video. I didn't even know half of these websites.
You're literally the first programming RUclipsr I subscribe on youtube. You're too real
This was priceless. Most important part is asking yourself, “whats my learning style and my ideal day to day reality work day.”

Been watching your content for about a month now fairly frequently since I found your channel. Really appreciate what you say in terms of realism for people that are looking to get into this field. Also glad to see that alot of the stuff you say are things I had in the back of my mind before even getting really started in this field which shows me that I'm working towards the right direction. Really hope you get more views and subscribers soon cause the industry needs more people like you to tell things how they really are.

Thank you so much for this info! Super helpful!!
This video is really helpful. I managed to teach myself HTML & CSS thus far and was doing fantastic with that with a few odd jobs a buddy was providing but honestly didn't know where to go from there. Now I see there is so many different ways to go. It has given me a lot to think about. The tips about what to focus on and what not to and checking what people are looking for in your local area are great! I never thought of that! >.<
Keep up the great work! :D

I've just watched your video with 1.5 and I'm glad that I did, it seems to work better for me at least. Thanks for tips!
Glad to help
Such a good video! Really appreciating all of these job hunt/job tips videos because I am in the thick of it 😭
Big hurdle for me is getting over the notion I have to completely memorise all the concepts and syntax of CSS and JavaScript. It's slowed me down in progressing a lot cos I get bored doing the same tutorial tasks and videos again and again. I know it's a better approach to move onto getting your hands dirty in building actual projects and just looking things up when stuck, and I have been doing this much more as of late. Hopefully things will speed up a bit now!
so what is better way to know something? To learn something? Trying to memorize it?
The first attempt at a language was Fortran in the middle 80s. I want to learn something new and I will enroll and sort out the basics.
Great video, thank you! Sadly, "middle of nowhere Kansas" hit too close to home as I recently returned to small town BFE after living in Dallas-Fort Worth. Crossing my fingers for remote opportunities! Lol
Thanks for this video. I am doing my research on developing/coding. I find your experience and delivery very informative. Thanks for sharing this insight. Keep up the great work!
