This style is a traditional Chinese opera style called 秦腔 (Qin Vocals). The dialect he sings specifically is called 陕北说书 (Shanbei Spoken Poetry/Book)。Supposedly the Qin Vocals were invented by the ancient Qin people that went on to form the Qin Dynasty. And it is still an art practiced today in modern day Shaanxi province. It is usually sang in weddings, funerals and opera houses where people drink tea and listen to Qin vocals. As someone whom is from the same province as him in China, I am so happy our culture is being shown to the world.

Just look at this man's camera footage quality! (Sad) Then have you seen LangLang play piano? That shit got 8K with fucking raytracing! Seeing this artist proudly and unapologetically play and sing his heart out genuinely brings tears. I wish him all the fortune and fame in the world!

As a Cantonese Chinese, I first heard singing from this region in 2001, got instantly hooked and loved it for more than twenty years. Very ancient and very cool.
I'm not Chinese, but as someone who has watched Chinese shows and maybe knows a little more about Chinese culture and mythology than the average American, it has been awesome playing the game and seeing little tad bits of stuff I've seen or heard of before. Currently almost done with chapter 4 and looking forward to the rest.

Chinas music is notoriously locked to china itself, same story like with Japan where creators are often not ok with their music being used outside of country. I watch certain Chinese donghua and it has music cut from it as creator allowed it only for China so they had to make separate streams one region locked for china one with no music for rest of the world.
I actually lived in the north of Shaanxi province in 2013 while teaching English in China. In a tiny little town of 400k called Jingbian. This is amazing!

Like even with the English subtitles, it can be challenging to figure out what exactly the lyrics are saying. However, he switches to Standard Mandarin with hardly any hint of a regional accent when speaking.

Not gonna lie, I wish he was with us the whole game. He really added to the atmosphere and I liked the songs I kept thinking how much I'd love to hear them in the chapter 3
