Hey, former D1 and overseas guy here. What will be good for you are a few things: the biggest is getting in the gym daily with a guy who currently plays overseas (or in the G-League). Like you mentioned, on-court strength is really only achieved if you’re going against someone who also has it. Playing 4-dribble 1v1 at different spots is great for that. Another is a trainer, but not because they know more than you: but rather having that 3rd body allows you to now practice in game plays for your specific position (PG)…now you can practice pick-and-roll, finding the open shooter then relocating for a 3; etc etc. There are other ways to achieve some of this, though everyone isn’t built for it. Depending on how good you are about just seeing something and applying it, you can watch just watch film of pros at your position. I worked out a lot by myself, but I watched my own game film and also that of NBA players at my position. And luckily I can basically see something once or twice and apply it immediately; so cognitively I was always able to get better every game. You may have that skill, too. Either way, if you do get a trainer or another workout partner, FILM your sessions and watch them the same night. Good luck to you man!!
It’s crazy how polished and fluid your entire game already is. In the 1v1s I’ve seen in the past I was surprised at some of your losses but it’s seemed to be conditioning and honestly being too friendly with your competition instead of wanting to win at all costs. Almost like you could‘ve taken the games if you wanted to go try hard.
I don’t normally comment on posts, but I feel as though I had to on this one. I’m training for the G league here in Alabama and I’ve experienced some of the trials and steps that you’ve went to as well in order to reach the G league and even NBA. I hope you keep making these videos and keep pushing yourself cause seeing you grind and have the same struggles that I’ve battled through and continue to battle through is truly an inspiration. Best of luck to you in your journey. Rooting for you 100% and hope we can play against each other real soon 💪🏾😁.
I love these type of docu-series. Never sunshine and rainbows. Talks about the grind and showing the work on getting better. Showing realistically the made and missed shots. I hope you get to you goals brotha, keep up the good work 💪🏽
Austin this is going to be a wonderful journey for you man! I am so excited the future is really bright for you. You have the drive and work ethic to make this happen let’s go!!! #road to the G-league 🙏🏿👍🏿🤝🏿
ay man we allll here for you man, all ur supporters know what ur capable of, and I know u know what ur capable of! great guy and a great player man. #ROADTOGLEAGUE💪🏾
Hey Austin> great stuff brother. Remember to focus on how you're gonna be able to defend bigger and quicker guys. Offensively you have a lot of tools to help a G-League team but you cannot be a liability defensively. Keep up the hard work it will pay off
Can’t over do it too but yeah u got this keep rest days just to rest n not working out. Also honing on a set of moves that s usually what will translate in a system game
Its really inspiring & definitely will help to other hoopers who didn't get the proper knowledge of working out.. im gonna watch every ep. for sure man 😉
Been watching Milly’s reactions and I have seen him on some ballislife videos so I’m kinda familiar with his game and personality. I saw this video on my recommended and it’s inspiring to see someone trying to be better knowing you might not be as “talented” as others and just 6” like he was saying. Milly’s transparency and honesty makes it more relatable too. Shout out to you and you got a new sub.
Great video! Don’t forget you’re a great basketball player. Basketball is like working out, you need to focus on your progression without comparing yourself. Keep it up man love the vids
Normally don’t comment but Mann you been a bucket getter for some time, you can do it for sure. Side note, I believe athleticism plays a big part in those try outs.
Damn bro a big goal to chase but thats whats life is about. I think you can make it. Also i think you should get a training parter that pushes you even more. 💯💯💯
All work is good work brother !! "You know the motto" lmao - the goal is to progress in the game but to also remain healthy physically and mentally ! Excited to follow along.
I been hoping you would get back in this mode . Your game was looking fluid then the ankle injury then you came back and got injured again best of luck man healthy wishes 😅
I could give you a tip, I trained myself my whole life ang the biggest thing you need to do is go game speed every drill and record yourself and studdy film to find your weaknesses
Goog luck Milly! I have come from your Milly Media RUclips channel. I have shared this on Twitter. I know that you can get some traction and get into the G League. Good luck!
My man Austin you should go play in the TBL(the basketball league) a lot of guys who do well end up going to the G league or even the NBA or at the least overseas
i fw this milly but be dedicated to it, if you gonna start this journey n vlog your process start it until you complete your goal. i jus hate to see a “get better wit me episodes” begin n never finish.
As long as you can shoot, you can always make it to the league. Just work on being able to get your shot off a variety of ways plus strengthening, conditioning, mobility, & better footwork
Im a physical therapy student in grad school right now, and although you didnt show it in the video Im curious to see your nutrition plan, post and pre workout stretching and hydration levels. Those three things can push you to the next level by letting you push farther on the court and limit injuries
Let's go Milly! Hard work n Dedication bro. Keep going on the days you don't want to. Have you or are you planning on talking to Nitty about the process? Be cool to link up with a Dev or a J Law type collab too
Keep up the work bro! I just wanted to give you some advice about the weight room. Every time you workout jot down how many sets and reps you do. Then increase the amount of reps or weight per exercise. This will help you stay focused and build muscle overtime.
If I can give you some advice about what you are doing, I would say 2 things: 1st: in your drives, it's clear that your off-arms look different driving to right than to the left. Driving to the right your off-arm kinda stays back, like if you had done a arm swipe, while when you are driving to the left it stays tucked in as if you are about to pick the ball up. As far as my knowledge goes, both are wrong. 2nd: in the weight room, don't do the shoulder raises past 90 degrees (or shoulder level). You are not going to be "putting more work in", and actually you may injure your shoulders.
You should try to study Chris Paul, Fred Vanvleet, kyle lowry, and just see how they move and play. Me being only 6' myself often look to them as a comparison as well.
We in ts together milly tryna make my highschool varsity team grinding my ass off over these next to months to be able to make the team and also leveling up parts of my game that are weaker than others you got this #roadtogleague
You can believe all you want , never happen .. he didn’t play D1 he’s 5’11 .. and older .. there are Pg right now in G league that are 6’4 to 6’8 who won’t sniff the nba !!! And they were all Americans in college and D1 stars we need to stop this bullshit .. this got to be for views cause he’s not making the g league.. over seas sure, drew sure, and he could make money overseas but nba 😂 stop it
and also try lifting and running before you get on the court and shoot to help with fatigue so it will somewhat simulate late game situations with dead legs and etc
Hey Austin, I dont know if anyone mentioned it, but I think you should reach out to JLaw, he has trained (and believe he still does) NBA and G League pros, he would help you to get that trainer aspect done:) best wishes on the journey from Europe!!!
Just a little unsolicited advice I'd like to offer. WORK SMART not HARDER. always try and avoid weight training after your basketball/cardio sessions . particularly if you're trying to add on strength and muscle. its not optimal if you're body is too sore to lift . CHILL! recovery is a huge part of the process.. if you had a tough week focus on gettin your steps fro the day.. maybe work on free throws and most importantly these are the days to really focus on you're mobility. sprinting after basketball and strength training is overkill. great cardiovascular workout but i dont think its necessary. especially on a day you're not feeling the strongest. once again SMART not HARD. too much stress on the body will create the adverse effect. lastly, never wear your Kobes outside again. LOVE THE CONTENT and good luck my boy
Nah bro. I'm doing the same in tech. Trying to see whether I'm good enough to crack Google. It's damn difficult as well. Let's do this together. Subscribed.❤
Milly ur gettin kinda swoll! i lost my jumper a little bit after i bulked up just shoot right after the pump so u dont lose ur touch (as im sure u know) big ups tho lookin diesel
I enjoy your content. Not a lot of humble guys in the social media hoops space besides you. I think you're on the right track talking about being able to get lower and change levels. I notice you have decent speed but maybe could use some improvement in explosive acceleration and deceleration. That would help your pace. I think all of those things can be improved the same way, through strengthening the posterior chain and elasticity. GBG and PJF has tons of free content and even better subscription content
On my soul hope to die I hope you read this !!! I tried out for the Washington wizards G league team in 2017 and I’m going to tell you EXACTLY what makes you stand out. All the coaches are going to look at how in shape you are ! They want to see how conditioned you are you have to be in the tip top shape!! Like a robot seriously!!!! Off ball hand they want perfect damn near want you to shoot with you’re off ball hand consistently!! I’m 5’9 left handed also ! They want robots mfs who can run and do drills all day and shoot consistently! In shape Consistency If you get tired fast or can’t recover fast they won’t keep you and that’s how most mf get cut. Try running 5 miles a day. Up hills carrying weights. You going be running a lot doing a lot of drills with you’re left hand and shooting a lot. They don’t care about defense shit stopped in 2010 lol. Try and turn yourself into a Kyrie Irvin bro cause you got everything just gotta get in shape to the point you never get tired !!
LET'S GO MILLY!

I agree most of his losses seem due to him getting inside his own head

Think biggest push gonna be on defence, in some of the 5s / park takeovers a lot of the teams target Milly
good luck bro , you have the potential for it
