  • LIVE COVERAGE: Johnny Depp v Amber Heard Defamation Trial
    Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she spoke out about being the victim of domestic violence. Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp as her alleged abuser, but according to Depp’s lawsuit, it relied “on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.” Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million.
    The defamation trial began Monday in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia, with jury selection completing on the same day. There is a possibility of celebrity witnesses testifying, including James Franco and Elon Musk. Tune in to the Law&Crime Network for daily coverage of this high-profile trial.

    As an ER nurse for over 25 years that hand surgeon is clueless about mechanisms of injury. He’s not taking a lot of things into account. He is assuming the injury affected the whole fingertip. Depending on angle the hand at the time of injury and weather or not the finger was completely supported on the palmer side at the moment of contact are both variables. After more than 25 years in the ER, there isn’t much I haven’t seen. I have seen fingers slammed in a door which resulted in a clean wound that resembled a laceration with a knife to the nail bed and the nail remained intact. I’ve also seen a finger that had been hit with a sledgehammer with no visible injury to the site of the hammer impact and the opposite side completely avulsed. Hand surgeons go off nurses notes and usually don’t see the injury until it rolls into the OR!

      I had a hand and finger injury that required surgery and 117 stitches. When the EMTs arrived at my house they saw the glass and my position and still found it hard to believe how my wound happened. The Dr at the ER asked more than once what "really" happened 😂 So this fool acting like he could say for sure it didnt happen the way Johnny was saying is asinine.
      FYI I was watering plants with a cut glass pitcher and tripped over the cat and fell on the pitcher. 😂 severed veins, arteries and tendons in my wrist and the palm of my hand and almost cut off my pinky finger with lasting nerve damage.

      An accurate account. ER nurses see it all. I have a relative who accidentally sawed off two of his fingers while building a house. He knew enough to tell his partner to get the fingers and some ice before they drove to the ER. An excellent surgeon attached both fingers. One didn't take, but the index one did. That was 50 years ago, and he just retired from his job as a doctor. He saved his finger and the career he was studying to have.

    • @StevesTutorials
      @StevesTutorials Год назад +50

      Im surprised I didn't see this comment higher. I was thinking the exact same thing. Claims pirates 6 isn't out so you can't use it as an example. Says Amber lost money on aquaman 3 despite not being out also. Then when the lawyer mentioned aquaman 3 again she said something like "Aquaman 2 isn't even out yet". Pick a lane woman. Either say she lost money on aquaman 3 and in direct correlation so did johnny on pirates 6, or just don't use aquaman 3 as an example.

      Just so you understand it, JD was not contracted for pirates 6 so that point is moot.
      AH is contracted for AM3 at $4m however what the witness is saying is that she has “lost” the potential to renegotiate that to a higher rate because of the negative press apparently as a result of the Waldman statement.
      However this is in contradiction to the Warner Bros head of DC Universe who was deposed as saying that the actors were just being paid as per the contract. Therefore any potential to renegotiate is just speculation. Which council pointed out.
      Council also did a great job so sewing the seed of doubt for AH’s actual ability to land a big role (other than the AM franchise which she already had) by bringing up that for 15 odd months following the release of AM1 she failed to land much else in a significant role until finally the timeline of the Waldman statement when it “apparently” then declined further.
      AH’s case for the counter IS the Waldman statement. If they can’t prove that statement directly caused; not correlates, to her losing roles, then she has no case.

    • @BeautyCharmer1120
      @BeautyCharmer1120 Год назад +13

      @@at802 Thank you for the further explanation. I completely understand.
      My comment was about the comparison between her alleged “losses” as they relate to further endorsements like the “water, makeup, beauty, health, etc.” and the future roles in other films.
      The witness claims she lost those opportunities (that could have potentially grown her career similar to the other actors and actresses).
      With her reasoning, she cannot claim Johnny’s losses because Pirates had not happened yet. So, how can she claim those losses if they hadn’t happened yet for Amber?
      Her argument is not sound all around. If she wanted to make a sound argument, she would have argued that Johnny lost the opportunity to be in Pirates 6 which could have made ___ amount of money compared to the previous box office sales. However, Miss Heard suffered a much greater loss due to x,y,z.

      Not a lawyer but I’m in law school, and I’ve done Mock Trials. Sometimes after an objection the Judge will ask the party who is being objected to how do they respond. Generally though, the Judge will just implicitly wait for the other side to make their make point if they want to fight to get in.
      Judges are human and they sometimes do make errors on objections, especially hearsay. It is the lawyers job to keep them on their toes. Stating your response also helps if you want to appeal a case.

She also said (AH told her) a second script was released - reducing AH's role and screen time - also false. Hamada testified that the one and only script was written in 2018 and not altered. He also said that due to lack of chemistry between JM & AH - recasting for Mera was discussed. Hamada also said that Aquaman 2 was known ahead of time to move Mera out of the spotlight. Also, all actors agreed before Aquaman 2 to salaries - there was no option to negotiate. There were no damages or losses from anything anyone said in regards to AH's Aquaman role.
