Just glad A-Train is still making routines. This guy is a true tablist. Most champs stick to their old routines. It ain't easy making routines because it takes SOOO much creative energy and can be draining.
First DJ to win all 3 major competitions ITF, Vestax, and DMC. His first DMC win was at age 15, the youngest to ever do it. Along with getting down on some turntablism he also rocks a party like no ones business and his solo production and his work with Armand as Duck Sauce is insane. He has already done everything a DJ can possibly do and was overly successful with it, but I'm sure your friends can do all of that while they play with their Numark midi controllers.
Damn didn't even use the original dead-mao-five version. That scratch routine on top of Nero's Ghost N Stuff drop is pure savagery. Edit: Am wrong, he does use the original and two remixes. OOF.
a-trak is true to the way of the DJ. not only pressing play and adding effects but truly manipulating sound to create a whole new listening experience. not like many other djs out there -____-
let me quote A-Trak (12/01/12 - 13:50) "For those interested, I use both Traktor and Serato now. To me it's like a guitarist who has a Les Paul and a Strat: both come in handy for different reasons."
what do you mean the "original" a-trak? he never went anywhere. been seeing him pretty consistently for years and he's been just as epic since the beginning. love live trizzy
Honestly, this video shows what a REAL dj is! How many of your friends dj'ed at EDC, HARD, or went on tour? Win a DMC at age 15, sell out stadiums, make you're own record label, and be known WORLD WIDE then come talk you're shit. Other than than enjoy this video :) I bid you a good day sir.
Aside from maaaaaybe 2 cue points, and maybe one effect (flange?) everything he did can be done with two turntables and identical records. The scratching, beat juggling and chase trick mixing are classic techniques that , when used effectively, can reach the same goal (making you dance/happy/nod your head) as someone remixing the track in the studio. It's kinda cool, no?
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the typical edm act. Play one track for 1-3min before taking another one in, and only using the basic effects. I think everyone could agree this isn't just button-pushing, this is kinda like perfection! :)
I'm sorry. I must have been unclear. He WAS doing it live. You say it's hard to believe, but you can actually do this with two turntables and a mixer. The fact that he's different characters is just old school DJ fun.
replying to a 7 year old comment but it should be noted that deadmau5 acknowledges DJs like A-Track as legitmate DJs. These aren't the "button pushers" he was referring to in that interview years ago. Turntablism takes skill and he knows that. That's why he doesn't call himself a DJ. He was referring to the ones that just mix two songs and beatmatch/sync
the dmc also judges individuality and creativity. and there's a LOT of ways to be creative out there. look back to some of the original dmc world champs tapes (85-95) and you'll know what i mean
Turntablism uses turntables. DJ'ing uses who knows what now days, ipods, plastic toys (controllers). Turntables are legitimate musical instruments, don't confuse this with button pushing DJ'ing all the kids are doing. This is way beyond DJ'ing.
Does he really continue beat juggling while he is changing outfits or, does he turn the black thing and pause the video and change outfit and start the video and go back there and turn the black thing again and sync music to the video
I never read that, but as long as he acknowledges that this does require talent (depending on how exactly you're djing). I'm pretty sure a lot of what Deadmau5 said in that infamous rolling stone interview was taken out of context.
All because deadmau5 said that all DJs "just push play"
Now this is what you call a DJ.
Just glad A-Train is still making routines. This guy is a true tablist. Most champs stick to their old routines. It ain't easy making routines because it takes SOOO much creative energy and can be draining.

Deadmau5 has acknowledged that Turntablists like Q, A-Track, Craze and the like are really skilled and admits that he definitely can not do it.
Damn didn't even use the original dead-mao-five version. That scratch routine on top of Nero's Ghost N Stuff drop is pure savagery.

good job at "pushing buttons" sir. keep up the good work!
let me quote A-Trak (12/01/12 - 13:50)
"For those interested, I use both Traktor and Serato now. To me it's like a guitarist who has a Les Paul and a Strat: both come in handy for different reasons."
yeah that's what he said. He literally said he and other popular producers/djs are button pushers
This guy's mixing skills are just damn out of this world good.

Honestly, this video shows what a REAL dj is! How many of your friends dj'ed at EDC, HARD, or went on tour? Win a DMC at age 15, sell out stadiums, make you're own record label, and be known WORLD WIDE then come talk you're shit. Other than than enjoy this video :)

These 2 minutes were better than any of the DMC battles in the past 5 or 6 years,

It takes more than a rant to be considered a genius.

switch concept is real. very nice video.

I'm sorry. I must have been unclear. He WAS doing it live. You say it's hard to believe, but you can actually do this with two turntables and a mixer. The fact that he's different characters is just old school DJ fun.
@1min30 : Best part!
love it man !
It's all about looking like you're enjoying yourself while you're performing :)
Amazing Scratch at 1:30 ! WOW !
he's been winning contests since the age of 15, I'm sure he didn't edit the video to make this routine lol, he does them live all the time.
A-Trak, why don't you use the internal soundcard on the djm900nexus?
sick hand work
What did Deadmau5 say again, about djing being easy and that they're all just button pushers?
replying to a 7 year old comment but it should be noted that deadmau5 acknowledges DJs like A-Track as legitmate DJs. wow how long have you been a DJ?? you really know what your talking about!!
Still think DJing is "pushing buttons" Mr. DeadmauFIVE
legend.
1:29 to 1:57 is amazing!
This has been a video response to: "We All Hit Play"
You're right. Instruments have never involved pushing "buttons" to make music before.
trizzy turn it up!
the trick at 1:30 gets me everytime
make more of these!
Yer a wizard A-Trak
Amazing
the dmc also judges individuality and creativity. and there's a LOT of ways to be creative out there. look back to some of the original dmc world champs tapes (85-95) and you'll know what i mean
been killing it since age 15.
you should do an all vinyl throw back routine.
Turntablism uses turntables. DJ'ing uses who knows what now days, ipods, plastic toys (controllers). Turntables are legitimate musical instruments, don't confuse this with button pushing DJ'ing all the kids are doing. This is way beyond DJ'ing.
All ladies queuing up for his outstanding "hand-skills".
that was insane
crab scratch was incredable
Hey bro, if your mixer is already scratch certified, why you need the A8 box? LOL..... #overkill
