    I love your colors and I also love this design .I will be in quilting withdrawals for the next three week .All five of my grown children are coming home to help celebrate my Moms 90th birthday . It’s been 12 yrs since they were all home and all 24 of my grandkids and great grandkids . We are all so excited to have them home to help Mom celebrate this amazing mile stone . So I won’t be sewing for a while but it will all be worth every second . Our kids are scattered from Mo to Ark.,to Ariz. But I will still sneak in some video time with you cant wait to see what’s next . Your my favorite quilter ❤

    As a newbie quilter, JoAnn's fake 10" squares were really frustrating for me. I tossed them aside and swore off Joann's precuts! Maybe after a little more experience I will figure out what to do with them!

    • @helenpeddycord2241
      @helenpeddycord2241 Год назад +2

      I understand your frustration. I’ll give you a handy pointer from an experienced Quilter. It only took me 12 years to discover not all precuts are exact! Even those high quality purchased from Quilt Shops. Always measure your precuts for accuracy! Some companies will measure the “mountain” others measure the “valley” of the pinked edges. This is an extremely helpful tip to know. Best of luck to you! Welcome to the most wonderful world of art💕🧵

    When dealing with fat quarters, cut them into four 9 inch squares. That way you only need 18" x 18" "fat quarter" squares. Also if your "10 inch" squares are wonky, you still can get a decent sized quilt top. But if you're going to use starch of ANY kind, do it at the VERY BEGINNING. Bc you will have some sort of shrinkage on cotton fabric.

    Yeah I can’t do a straight line either. But oh well I’m just learning. I’m making my first big quilt. I’ve made baby blankets for my granddaughter so now on to bigger ones. Lol. What do you use for your design board in the background with your fabric on it? I bought a 72 x 72 felt and my fabric does not stick to it. Any suggestions on what else to get I really do love
    that idea.

      @@aprilscraftroom Thank you so much. I’m using the back of and older tablet cloth but my small blocks don’t stay on it well. Lol. I made my first king size quilt. I just don’t know how to post it.

    I think you will find that the packaging on your Accuquilt die will probably be worded as a 10" FINISHED square. I have Sizzix and all of the die packaging has diagrams on the front and tell you the finished size of the block and the diagram will have both sizes on it.

    Sometimes when you iron you lose about an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch on one side of your blocks. This is due to shrinkage of the cross grain of your fabric. Iron a block that you know for sure is right and you will see what I'm talking about. That's why I don't iron any more than I absolutely have to until my block is finished. Ironing the 10 inch pieces probably caused a shrink that changed the size.

    Also what is a accurate cuter, how does it work and where do you buy one?

    Just make sure all the blocks are trimmed to 10” before sewing - I’m not grasping your problem! And of course trim the four- patch from the center!

    I wish you had a white background on your board So your quilt pieces would show up better.

    One of the things I have been finding is that a lot of fabric is stated in inches and millimeters. The millimeter measurement is always the right one and it does not match inches well enough a lot of the time. I find it very irritating.
