And I’ve also found those packs of 20 layer cakes at my ,kcal Joann’s - but I think I need to find more stores than just the one by me as I do know that different stores carry different fabric packets - besides, it’s fun to find something new!!! Oh, and I love your flamingo shirt!

That is great fabric! How awesome that you had a coordinating fq bundle of solids. I think I would have trimmed all the squares down to the same size before joining them together, just me. Will you show it again after it's quilted?
I often struggle with precuts that aren’t the size they say they are 🤷♀️ Why do we have to put up with it 😳 You did a great job and you have created a lovely quilt 👏👏🇬🇧
Yes! That 10-1/2” four-patch yin made from that die is correct - AccuQuilt has included the seams so this block is really a 10” block finished - I’d rather have to trim a bit than try to work with something too small!
As a newbie quilter, JoAnn's fake 10" squares were really frustrating for me. I tossed them aside and swore off Joann's precuts! Maybe after a little more experience I will figure out what to do with them!
I understand your frustration. I’ll give you a handy pointer from an experienced Quilter. It only took me 12 years to discover not all precuts are exact! Even those high quality purchased from Quilt Shops. Always measure your precuts for accuracy! Some companies will measure the “mountain” others measure the “valley” of the pinked edges. This is an extremely helpful tip to know. Best of luck to you! Welcome to the most wonderful world of art💕🧵
@@helenpeddycord2241 Thank you! I was surprised at these batches though because one side was barely 9" and I am not comfortable yet adjusting everything else down that much. I love math, but not that much yet! I will square them up and use them to practice half square triangles!

It was unfortunate about the 10 inch squares. That’s why I do not buy fabric from Jo Ann’s. I did once and everything bled and was not even. I buy from quilt shops only now. Love your posts!
When dealing with fat quarters, cut them into four 9 inch squares. That way you only need 18" x 18" "fat quarter" squares. Also if your "10 inch" squares are wonky, you still can get a decent sized quilt top. But if you're going to use starch of ANY kind, do it at the VERY BEGINNING. I think you will find that the packaging on your Accuquilt die will probably be worded as a 10" FINISHED square. I have Sizzix and all of the die packaging has diagrams on the front and tell you the finished size of the block and the diagram will have both sizes on it.
Sometimes when you iron you lose about an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch on one side of your blocks. This is due to shrinkage of the cross grain of your fabric. Iron a block that you know for sure is right and you will see what I'm talking about. That's why I don't iron any more than I absolutely have to until my block is finished. Ironing the 10 inch pieces probably caused a shrink that changed the size.
One of the things I have been finding is that a lot of fabric is stated in inches and millimeters. The millimeter measurement is always the right one and it does not match inches well enough a lot of the time. I find it very irritating.
I like your comments, "I know that about myself and I've learned to live with it."
