    GR8 Video with excellent instructions. Your video is among the TOP on "How To" and easy to follow without any guessing.
    The only thing I would not do is to place the relay to open the gate in the doorbell, it is a security risk as all you need to do is open the case and short the two wires to open the gate.

    • @SmartSolutionsForHome
      @SmartSolutionsForHome  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! As fot the security risk: I use this to open the wicket/gateway. Of course you are right that it is enough to short two wires to open it. But it's much easier to jump over the fence :) I don't use it for anything where security is critical. Thanks for your fantastic comment, you are very insightful :)

    This is great but i think rev 2 should have a secondary board in a safer location that is responisble for triggering the unlock. At the moment you could just pull the camera off its mount and then short the relay wires to gain access.

    Hi! great vid! Could this entire circuit be made portable using a powerbank of some sort?

    • @SmartSolutionsForHome
      @SmartSolutionsForHome  2 года назад +1

      Thanks, WiFi is quite "power-hungry". ESP32 could go into Low-Power mode, but then it takes ages to establish the connection. Additionally, if you would like to use a Relay, it's another current ineffective component. So the answer to your question is "yes, but it wouldn't work for a long time" :)

    I really liked it, but i have an observation. I saw that the signal control to open the door is depending on the esp, so if someone notice that, can open the doorbell and fake that signal to open your door from outside. Please correct me if I wrong.

    • @SmartSolutionsForHome
      @SmartSolutionsForHome  3 года назад +1

      You're right. It's a very insightful observation. Thank you for that :) That's why I "only" use it for the fence gate. Let's face it, it would be less work to jump over this gate than break into the doorbell :)

      @@Gianluca23ACDC "for some applications it wouldn't be acceptable" this is such a great observation. If someone made a video of someone installing a wooden door you would say "you have a wooden door so someone could smash in with a sledge hammer, this is not acceptable for high security." He wasn't trying to make the "Fort Knox" of video doorbells nor did he ever imply that it was a super secure option.
