Here in Australia our XM and XP hardtops had a simple steel plug in the access hole. A quick FYI the XP falcon range was "All new" for 1965 the hood and bumper had resemblance to the Comet...Well just a bit. Lol
I owned 2 '64 Comets, a 2dr sedan 404 and a convertible Caliente (hard top door). Fortunately in California there are lots of old Falcons because Comets are much harder to find. My 404 (parked by my buddy-honnestly!) slipped out of Park and into Reverse and ripped the door backwards against a building and folded up against the fender. That is when I learned about the cost of body work, and not being able to find another Comet door, but also learning the Falcon door is one of the interchange parts. My Caliente's chrome and metal trim went to a Chrome shop that somehow lost my door windows! Ugh. Oh well, we all have stories. That's why we love our cars. Great channel!
good video as always...and your right!..... there was no engineer looking over BIG JAKE'S shoulder.....because theres a health risk to trying to tell a 6' "5" 300pd man who needs a beer and a Camel what to do! (cause more than likely that engineer would end up with a surgeon removing his T.I calculator from a very not safe for life place!) but still good advice....
@@AutoRestoMod even them too...just imagine Dylan over your shoulder when your trying to build that mach 1 in 70!.....the world ain't ready for that kind of carnage!
Well, this was not only great (and timely) info but also solved a mystery for me as well! First off, as I'm getting ready to paint my '65 Falcon four-door wagon in the spring I'm taking things apart and "assumed" that the window frames came out - would make painting that much easier. After your mention of drilling out spot welds that plan went down the tubes (and explained why I couldn't find bolts for the frames). The "mystery" solved was the Futura badges on the interior of the doors, or in the case of my wagon, the lack of them. Technically a Deluxe wagon she does sport Futura badges on the fenders and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why my car didn't also have the interior door badges. Now I get it - they weren't needed (to fill that hole that the hardtop doors have...). Thanks!
Vent windows are removable, much like our video on the F100 this week (Autorestomod Episode 477 ruclips.net/video/8KYtHS6603w/видео.html) And that can help in your quest for less potential "debris fields". Glad we could help!
Love your show. Came across it after I gained full custody of a 78 F100 that had been in the family since 2002. Was surprised to hear that you're just across the river! Cool! Big fan
Have thought of selling the space to advertisers...you know, really Ricky Bobby it up with sponsors. 😆 The drapes hide the chaos that is "the alcoves". While there is order there, it looks in disarray on camera. The curtains were SUPPOSED to be gray...but are a lovely gray blue, thank you Amazon marketer...
Great Video!! I have a 1963.5 Falcon two-door hardtop sprint that needs a driver's side door. Do you know if a any other year or body style may fit? I will post the same question on a more recent video just in case you don't see this one.
Should have said 4 door.Left out 2 door, sedan delivery,Ranchero.Or are you going to put that door on the Ranchero and fill in the gap? That would be fun to watch.
We would have to use an estimated 3.765 four door doors to make a door that fit the door hole in the Two door models. But the door will fit a 1946/'65: Ranchero, Two Door Wagon, Sedan Delivery, Convertible, and Hardtop.
Not a Ford guy, but what doors fit is a good thing to know. Cool show! Also, FYI - just happened to notice the end credits say "Produciton of Ford Performance".
I was considering a hardtop mod for the 1sr gen, i realize the 63 1/2 exists but rare and expensive. It would b a fun but extensive project. My plan was using the 64 hardtop on the 1st gen, r u aware of this mod?
I got a question about doors since we're on the topic....I have a 1971 torino gt and I'm looking into buying 2 door from a 1971 Ford Ranchero. Will they be compatible?
Sadly no we don't do any extra parts. Everything we have is for a car that is here. I would recommend hitting some of the Facebook groups related to Falcon, as well as joining the Falcon club of America there are good sources there as well.
Thanks for pointing out the similarities between Ford models. Didn't know about the Mercury car doors could be swapped with Fords. Keep your videos coming.
Great video. I replaced a door on my 68 Montego with one from a 68 Fairlane back in the day ( and people complained about Ford and Mercury being the same car until the demise of Mercury).
Great information
Good info. I was actually researching if Falcon guys had done any 4-door to 2-door conversions like the tri-5 Chevy guys do.
Great show
Thank you

Have one of your minions iron your drapes.
Nah. They are like me, wrinkly and hanging around.🤣🤣🤣

Very cool! Come on over sometimes we film every Saturday except when we don't. Contact me at: jford@autorestomod.com
Good info. Parts are getting harder harder to find, so more options is a Good thing. Thanks Jeff
You bet
Just pulled doors from my basement that I totally forgot about for my ‘68 Cougar from 20 years ago. And they’re cherry 🍒
Really enjoy this channel.
Like the new drapes. Thought of iron on patches?

That's all we do! Glad you are enjoying it.
I love this channel because of the Falcons and rancheros!!! Mine is a 67 falcon
This reminds me, I have to align the doors on my Ranchero hehe! Thanks! Awesome video :)
Any time!

Love the channel I've referred to a lot of your 1st gen mustang vids
Never would have thought to swap a door like that.
Thanks. Be interesting to see if 67/68 Mustang vent windows and glass fit?
Sadly no. The vent frames are completely different. We'll cover that when we rebuild the hardtop frames in the future.
Not a Ford guy, but what doors fit is a good thing to know. Cool show!
Also, FYI - just happened to notice the end credits say "Produciton of Ford Performance".
My Production Company name is Ford Performance Inc. Since my last name is Ford I figured, eh, what the hey, I'll go for it.
@@AutoRestoMod Oh, yeah, but Production is spelled "Produciton" in the credits. I just noticed it as I've done the SAME EXACT THING. #SausageFingers 😜

Will the mod work on a 63 or any of the 1st gen falcons?
I got a question about doors since we're on the topic....I have a 1971 torino gt and I'm looking into buying 2 door from a 1971 Ford Ranchero. Will they be compatible?
I feel sure they would fit, I can't see Ford changing the doors for one model. Glass will have to change.
Ok I'm having trouble finding a back glass for a 4 door 69 falcon. Is it the same as the two door?
Not sure. I'd have to dig out my interchange manual and see if it is even listed. Contact me at: jford@autorestomod.com
