Braking and cornering (together) is an important part of indieVelo's physics. If mastered, it can be a base of a decicive move downhill during a race. Recently, on The Virtual Velo podcast, Si Bradeley discussed braking and cornering with dr. George Gilbert (among many things, podcast link: open.spotify.c... ),and I have used my recent experience from a race (against bots) to showcase how does it looks like in game.

I didn't know indieVelo had this feature. I used RGT a lot the last few years and I don't think they gave benefits to people easing up before corners, they just put the brakes on and told you that you were wasting watts by continuing to push through sharp corners. Getting a better line and a smoother ride in indieVelo seems like a neat idea. I've only been on indieVelo once but I like it. I hope they don't bring in steering like RGT did. It sounds like a good idea but I never got on with it. RGT was great before they had steering.

Slowing the bike in corners is important because it change the dynamics of the group. It means being further back requires more power to catch up. Overall it forces a less linear effort. Zwift dont care about this and it means every map with low elevation will finish in a big sprint and there is no point riding at the front in such races. It also means all flatish road ride the same apart from visual effects. Big opportunity missed. Still i think braking (and steering) must remain automatic. It must say a physical test first.
