Steel Knot Sculpture

- Inspired by various trefoil (quatrefoil ?) steel knot sculptures on cough instagram, I though I'd build one for father's day.
As you will see, I measured twice, and cut, well, more than twice. Even with my drawing it was tricky. First off I stuffed the lengths, marking to the inside of the bevel rather than the outside. Once I worked that out, I cut all 3 long, 6 medium and 3 short pieces with the same "clocking" of the bevels. Once I went to assemble it I realised the medium pieces all needed to be clocked the opposite way, so I had to redo them.
You'll also see I had a little fire in my acetone rag...
Good afternoon, how are you? What program did you use to design the part? Thanks!
Can you send me the dimensions so i can try it out too if you don't mind
Cool
Question, what blade are you using in that makita chopper?
I'm pretty sure it's a B-15805. www.totaltools.com.au/74748-makita-305mm-60t-tct-circular-saw-blade-metal-cutting-specialized-b15805
nice work but I don't get why you bothered doing vertical up vert down has ample strength for this. going down you will have a flat weld so less grinding. also just my opinion I think you should have not welded the inside corner to me unless it's sanded out it makes it look unattractive. just my opinion if it's a tight fit up there's no need to.
Both very good points, thanks! First, I'm not a welder, and only recently really found out what vertical up/down means - I kind of just did what felt natural, but you are right. Likewise, I guess I kind of wanted it "water tight", but the fit-up was pretty good from the cut saw so could have done without it.
Ohh ok great job that you done.
How to decide measurements?
