Great video and think I'll do the same on my 2001 4.7. Everything has basically been changed...all the packs, etc, but still getting a dopey check engine light that fires off after the light is cleared.

Nice, same exact problem on my 2003 IL V6 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Switch out the oil and pan already but slipping a tad. Will this fix my issue or should I replace the whole Transmission?
You should replace the solenoid if not already replaced. That should fix your issue. Also use OEM Mopar parts. I have the links in the description - amzn.to/33bgLz1 or amzn.to/37b8PRV. Also check the accumulator spring. It is a good idea to replace that when you are at replacing the solenoid.
Hmm... Left turns... Leaky Fluid... If you were low on fluid the first time would you recommend that I reuse the 20 year old gasket or will it leak again? Did you have any issues with it? Thank you again for your videos! Much Love
I have leaks when I switched the pan with Dorman aftermarket pan with the drain plug. I kept the same gasket that came with the car. I might switch the gasket at some point or switch to the original pan which may be stronger than the aftermarket one to seal better. If you are using the original pan, then try a new gasket and let us know how that worked. Also see my other video on left turn issue - ruclips.net/video/FkZq4ylBJW8/видео.html.
Check the cooling fan and see if the small trans cooler is working well. If you have cooling fan issues, check my other video ruclips.net/video/KhUDJLgLtBQ/видео.html for electrical fan or this one ruclips.net/video/5rmZZHRozEg/видео.html for clutch fan.
thank you for sharing this video. I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee that will not shift into first gear. so all the shift solenoids are within reach once I remove the cover? Now is it best to replace all the solenoids or just the one that is in charge of shifting the first gear?
Is it not downshifting to first? Or is it not engaging even during start? Yes, once you open the transmission pan, you can access the solenoid and pressure sensor. The solenoid is the one that goes bad mostly, so you can try replacing that first. Also check the accumulator spring (ruclips.net/video/IvC_cRzJjPM/видео.html) and make sure you have enough transmission fluid (ruclips.net/video/FkZq4ylBJW8/видео.html). Both will give trouble with shifting.
@@DIYWithIndi thanks for replying. It will not shift into first gear unless I release on the accelerator at around 2,200 rpm and feel it engage. All other gears including overdrive work and shift smoothly.
@@alfredolopez-bruce6199 The usual suspects are low transmission fluid (ruclips.net/video/FkZq4ylBJW8/видео.html), broken accumulator spring (ruclips.net/video/IvC_cRzJjPM/видео.html) or bad solenoid (ruclips.net/video/P42z4vqnlsA/видео.html). Was it delivered from the Amazon Mopar store? I would ask the seller why it is not Mopar as advertised. I will not recommend anything other than OEM Mopar part from a reputable Mopar vendor.
The transmission number is on the side of the transmission itself. My Jeep WJ has a Select Trac (you will see this on the transmission lever) and the engine is a 4.0 L Inline 6. These have a 42RE Transmission. The bigger engines (4.7L) have a Quadra Trac II transmission and possibly a 44RE. Note that some parts for a 1999-2000 42RE are a bit different than the 2001-2004 42RE. So make sure you are getting the correct part (e.g. solenoid) for exact fit.
