    Thank you so much RyiSnow, Yuzo Koshiro is my favorite video game composer and it's great to get these insights from the interview. He still uses old PC88 hardware to compose for modern games, but he's certainly not stuck in the past. In fact, for Actraiser 2 he wrote his own software to produce higher-quality sound samples and succeeded in achieving the most orchestral/symphonic sound I've ever heard on SFC/SNES.

      Yeah he seems to have a special attachment to PC88 and it's pretty amazing that he not only make music but creates the programming tools as well. Such a talented person... Thank you for the comment :D

      @@RyiSnow I just listened to the ActRaiser OST because of your video, and it's pretty damn great! I remember trying it out a couple years back and not really being into it, but I'll definitely give it another go soon if it means hearing more of Yuzo's awesome work.

      @Jordan3D Yeah I was listening to the OST again while translating this interview and I was amazed by how it really sound like an orchestra and wow that Filmore theme! The music sounds even better after hearing what Koshiro said in the interview :)

    Now after fully watching the interview i can say that this material is pretty amazing! Yuzo Koshiro was one of a kind in that era, and after reading those words by Uematsu it's proved again... Since he was working on a "Quintet" title, is there a way to gather more info on other "Quintet" composers? Miyoko Takaoka, Masanori Hikichi, Yasuhiro Kawasaki, among others...
    Such a wonderful interview again... wish you the best!

    • @RyiSnow
      @RyiSnow  5 лет назад +2

      Thank you! Actually I got a bunch of old video game magazines recently so I'll check if there are Quintet related articles. There was always a rumor that "FFIV music was redone because of ActRaiser" but it was never confirmed until that 2012 event. Although Uematsu denied the part of the rumor which suggested that he remade the music from the scratch but admitted that he remade the sound while keeping the scores as they are. It's pretty neat that those people show their respect to other creators in the industry.

    Have you thought about partnering with shmuplations.com? They do English translations of JP developer interviews. This would give your dev interview translations more exposure. The model could work where they host your vids, and then include a written transcript on the page.

       RyiSnow It's great and I even like the rearrangements they have done afterwards, but gosh do I love hearing synthesized sounds from those old 90s computers. Someone has x68000 sound track on here and it sounds amazing. It just takes me back to an excited mindset where everything was new and interesting.

    • @RyiSnow
      @RyiSnow  5 лет назад

      @Mohammed I agree, I loved playing Ys I & II on PC Engine and the music just blew me away. That said Ys sound on PC88 definitely retains its own charm even to this day and it's almost unbelievable that Koshiro made so many great tracks for this one title. x68000 was a dream machine when I was a kid. The graphics looked amazing but I could never own it since it was soooo expensive haha.
      >where everything was new and interesting
      I can totally relate to that! While it was wonderful to witness the evolution of technology from the 8bit era to the 4K graphics, I somehow miss those old days when everything was a bit more simple :)
