awesome video mate. driving the kart much easier towards the end and considering not been to hooton, or in GX kart done well. straight line speed might he down to alignment. gearing... or even the fact the engine was being run in after a full rebuild 😂 so will be loosened up next outing
Thanks Andy, yea the karts are very nice to drive and great for improving technique. Good to know about the straight speed, so much still to learn, which is going to be very enjoyable 🙌
These karts are lowcost around £1000 including the GX200. But they only have 8hp. For £650 instead of £400 you can have a superstock GX200 with 13hp. Or an open tunned GX390 with 25hp for £850. So why not allow £1200 karts for 13hp superstock class and £1500 for the open 25hp motors ?
Not sure about the exact reasoning behind the engine choice from the series owners but I know it’s been a bit of trial and error getting the GX onto a frame usually used for 2 stroke racing. I guess the architecture of the other engines might pose a challenge? As for my personal reasons for doing it, I’m happy to go slower during my first season of owner driving whilst I learn about what I’m doing before going faster. Already made a couple of mistakes on this 🤣. Really interesting points though, I’m sure people would be interested in adding more power to their chassis! Thanks for watching.
Great Vid Tom, great ring with you! So so so so looking forward to next season
Thanks Alex, you too, some excellent battles! Roll on next season 🙌

Are you only allowed 1 set of tyres for the season ?
How can one set of tyres last 6 races ?
Yes, it’s part of what makes the series so cheap. This is part of the reason for the engine choice as more power would degrade the types more quickly.
