  • This is a high-level explanation of capacitive coupling, the calculations (simple math), and why the baffle shield is effective. I also discuss why ferrite beads on the input signal are not effective.
    The tube amplifier is a voltage amplifier. However, the capacitive coupling injects current (flux) into the circuit. Therefore, a spurious signal that injects a few mA in the preamp is a problem whereas a few mA in the power section is typically not a problem.
    I show the math behind the cell phone aliens.
