Oh thank God I'm not the only adult in the room who follows this and has this opinion! My "hubby" (we're not married but are a bit too old for the bf/gf thing) says the same thing. When I "discovered" BTS it was from their BST video. I thought "Oh aren't they cute! Great video production - that cost some money! Fantastic music and vocal arrangements ... talented dancers... who's the one in the front?!!" (Turns out I'm a serious JK Noona) I didn't even know their names! I had never heard of "shipping". So, like you, I did the back ground research - started watching more videos, talk shows, interviews, joined Vlive and watched ALL the Run episodes, the behind the scenes, (even the Gayo ones), concert footage, musters, variety shows, you name it. And it didn't take me long to see that THESE TWO ARE A COUPLE. And in all honesty, I think they said some type of "vows" to each other a few years back... and living the reality of how they feel is a pressure I wouldn't want to place on anyone, because I did a lot of cultural research to get a better idea of what they were up against. What may have started as two young goofy boys (and I'm around teenage boys all day) just being goofy, turned into two teenagers discovering themselves, and resulted in two young men trying to make a way in an unyielding society. And it breaks my heart, because I live in a country where they wouldn't be condemned or judged so heavily for how they feel. I'll be honest ... I have actually shed some tears over these two because I'm old enough (we'll just keep it there) to know that as real as I KNOW this is, it's going to reach a point where some kind of sacrifice will HAVE to be made, and I really don't envy either choice they have. But we are living in times of change, so I pray for the best for them. I don't think anyone who's never been in love truly gets it.But, with so much more Western exposure and other influences (Troye Sivan, Holland, etc.) it could get VERY interesting. I'll support them because I'm really concerned with their well-being. To me, TAEKOOK is a self-appointed acronym for two people who genuinely care for one other, and I respect it!

The world is changing and the old labels and societal expectations are changing with it. In JK and Tae's situation, I honestly don't think it will change fast enough in Korea. And it's not just about what they've gone through, it's about what's yet to come!! I'll probably get persecuted for saying this, but the reality is what happens "after the fact". They will have additional albums w. the group, solo projects, they have military service coming up, come-back concerts, ... and IF they manage to stay strong in their love through all of that, what happens next? Like any BTS fan, I'd love nothing more than for them to have the longevity of Shinhwa, Super Junior or even Big Bang but how many years would they really be expected to sacrifice their own happiness for the sake of the group? Is it fair to even expect them to? And maybe they would, as a statement of cultural honor and continued commitment to the group. I'd hate it for them, but it's a possibility too. Regardless, at some point, SOMETHING will have to change. My "hubby" believes that when they reach ages 28-30 the 'world' will 'kick in' if it hasn't changed, and that's when we'll see them heading in their life directions. He thinks JK would be the one to eventually marry, and have kids one day, and that V will be single, and lead a very eccentric lifestyle without JK to keep him grounded. I don't know. I think that JK would end up submersing himself in projects, writing, performing, and producing (possibly not just in Korea) and Tae would be acting in K-Dramas, and married with kids. But we have to remember, JK and Tae are not BTS alone! Jin, Suga, RM, J-Hope, and Jimin also have hopes and dreams of their own, and will have separate careers, projects, and lives as well. Regardless of where any of their lives take them, we'll just have to be supportive when things happen, no matter what it is or who it's with. But in the meantime, I pray Taehyung and Jungkook find happiness NOW, while they're young, and it's a beautiful first love, and I pray that the 'world' lets them ENJOY just some sliver of that happiness! Don't they deserve it?
