I saw two Movies in Christmas Day. Nosferatu first and then Baby girl. After I woke up from my nap in Nosferatu. I was blown away after seeing Baby Girl! Absolutely loved it and her and Demi for the Substance are gonna get Oscar Nods.
I simply adore Nicole Kidman. She's got so many incredible performances under her belt: Moulin Rouge, The hours, The others, Rabbits hole, Being the Ricardos (yes, I really like that one!), Big Little Lies (with which I will be forever in awe), The undoing... And the list could go on! I hope she gets another nomination this year ❤

For exmpel the works of the great John Waters or Russ Mayer's Beyond the valley of the dolls and Kill Pussycat Kill. Fatal Attraction would be another trashy movie.
Destroyer was one of her best performances ever. Talked with her for a long time with my friend, Sally K at the Academy screening. She’s the real deal as an actress and a person.
It's a tough year, but i think that if she campaigns hard, she can pull it off. Emma Stone won for a film with plenty of sex last year so I think this could happen.

Just got out of seeing it. Came off very by the numbers and cliched. It's an ok matinee watch but I don't think it even approaches awards consideration. Maybe Kidman since she does carry it but some scenes come off as almost spoofs of movies from the 90s.

I think To Die For was one of the biggest acting snubs of the 90s and I would have liked to see her nominated (and perhaps won) for The Others instead of Moulin Rouge (though she's great in both, I just adore her performance in The Others). So overall her history with the Oscars has been a bit weird and inconsistent, as she misses for some of her best work and gets in for some random stuff like Ricardos.
Her technical work in Riccardos was excellent though. It's just that the movie itself was a letdown. But yeah, she probably should have also been nominated for To Die For, The Paperboy (best supporting) and The Others, to say the least.
No question: She is a talented, hardworking actor. She is very charming and engaging in interviews. She has made (mostly) very good decisions about her career, and she has been in firm control of her work and image from the start. However, does anyone else find her difficult to watch because of her plastic surgeries? Her face just does not respond normally to emotional cues anymore, in my opinion. That creates a barrier between me and her performance: I can't see her characters on screen anymore; I can see only Nicole Kidman.
I completely agree about the surgeries. She's unwatchable to me. I feel like I'm on a different planet reading comments and listening to reviews about her.

10/10.... YES. I've seen Babygirl twice in the last 24 hours- both times in a packed theater with a fully engaged audience. I agree that Nicole deserves that Oscar nom, Harris Dickinson is so interesting, and I can't wait to see what Halina Reijn does next!
Having had to battle raw sexual feelings all my life, I don't need to be triggered by this movie. This is a cosmetic depiction of sex. Anyone who goes to sex addicts anonymous, they know that sex is as dangerous as alcohol. This movie sanitizes sex. So great for anyone who doesn't have this addiction.

Also, a reminder, Blanchett can't sing, neither can Winslet. Just imagine either in Moulin Rouge. They 're technically more proficient, but they don't have the range. You should rewatch The Hours, it's far from just the nose. Her voice work alone was Oscar worthy. Not to mention that she acts with her eyes, and they're not even focusing most of the time. It's just brilliant work, and one of the performances with the shortest run-times ever to win that category, for a good reason.

That was a very entertaining film. Diane Lane is another fabulous actress who is deserves better roles.
