Think about that, to dig a 600 or 700 km carnal from Port Augusta to Lake Eyre through the existing river beds, and the river landscape in average is 28 to 32 meters above sea level.
Once done, the Lake Eyre can be a permanent lake.
How does it sound like ?

What about to make a canal or set of canals from Port Augusta to Lake Eyre on the existing river beds ?
That will make Lake Eyre a permanent lake, so that to improve the surrounding climate. Consequently it will create a better living environment for more people and business to settle in.
The river beds in between Port Augusta and Lake Eyre is in average 30 meters above sea level, it is considerably easy to deepening and widening the river beds . Lake Eyre is 15 meters below sea level , as you can see, it can be a permanent lake after all.

In our country, as you can witness, climate change means life. Wet one year, dry the next decade and yet life rebounds again when the waters flow again. If you reckon to change it.........go away!
