Thank you so much! I'm a music major and your videos have been so helpful. I started violin in 6th grade but I started taking lessons when I was a junior in high school and my fundamentals were very lacking. I never had a teacher that helped me build a solid foundation. I started to notice issues, especially as the music I was learning became more difficult. Sadly, my teacher then and even my teacher now haven't been very helpful in improving my foundational technique. My teachers have been very awesome in other areas but I realized that I would need to put in the extra effort to learn how to improve the basic skills that I never really became proficient at. Your videos, as well as so many generous teachers on RUclips, have really helped me to bridge the gap in my knowledge and understanding. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thanks so much for the comment! It means a ton hearing from people like you so I know the channel is making a difference. You're just who I'm hoping to reach. Good for you for being proactive about your own progress. If you only started as a junior in high school, my guess is that you are progressing quickly. I definitely relate to the struggle of figuring out violin technique particularly if you don't feel like your teachers are filling in your gaps completely. I'd love to be as helpful for you as I can. Feel free to reach out if there's a topic you want covered. I'd also be happy to do a supplemental lesson or two with you where I could give you some more specific direction on what to focus on in your technique (as long as you don't think your current professor wouldn't mind.) Just shoot me an email at davidp.violin@gmail.com if you'd like to set up an online lesson.
Very well stated intent and motivation! Every child should learn an instrument for their brain and character. Some are better learning piano though if they lack intonation. Thank you for your hard work for the good of humanity!
I constantly refer to your videos when teaching in my own studio and when practicing on my own!!
Thanks Kate! Glad to hear it!
