thanx for the in-depth review. bought one for Everest 10 still only $75 on Amazon in 3-23-24 even greater buy than before considering inflation rate. I've spent hundreds on a futuba decades back not close to the value available now. this controller is a must have for a crawler with a rear steer servo. setting allow easy mode switching from normal steer, just rear steer, both steer or "Crab walk" steer. This remote is amazing!!!
Cool radio, flysky have always offered great value for money and people on a tight budget with a decent product.. Hopefully other rtr manufacturers will get it and what the people want and offer better radios included. Congratulations on a great channel guys and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year Cheers mate
Right on Mick D. We like nice stuff that doesn't let RC'ers down. Even better is when they're at a good price and are reachable for more hobbyists! This is one of them.
I run 2 GT5s, one runs all my crawlers (6 total) and the other runs my 2 Baja Rey trucks, ARRMA SENTON 6S, & Infraction. Getting one with my AXE was a huge bonus.
I have owned several radios like the flysky gt3..radiolink 6 channel with avc and the flysky gt5 and the gt5 is my favorite for the money. I have also used the spektrum radios however they are nice but receivers are too expensive when they have AVC. I was able to buy 3 of the 6 channel receivers with avc for the gt5 for the same price as one of the spektrum ones. Best value for money.
Good review👍🏽. I just ordered two of these radios after I saw your last review on the truck..glad you did a review on just the radio. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
RC Review my radio arrived..the quality is quite impressive at this price point! I have a question for you, can I use this radio for the TRX4 with the locking diffs and the two speed tranny? If so, what channels would you recommend to use for that? I plan on making a servo winch as well in the near future which I’m hoping I can also run directly from the radio. Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated for the diff/tranny setup. Thanks!
NVM..I think I got it sorted out, I’m going by to try channel 3 for the two speed, channels 5&6 for the locking diffs and channel 4 for the servo winch. I haven’t tried it yet but I think that should work. Update: worked like a charm! I made a servo winch works great with the 3 way switch👍🏽
I was looking for a radio to put in a RC10 I'm building for my Dad. This looks like it will work perfectly. I ordered one from Amazon. Thanks for the review.
My GT3B decided to die, so I got one of these coming. Pretty weird, it working one day, then the next day the range went down to 2ft. New batteries, different receivers, different operating location, and resoldering the tax antenna didn't help. Guess I got my money out of it though. Kinda annoying gotta get new receivers though.
Is there a 3 position switch? Like for a trx4 locking diffs? On the traxxas, position 1, unlocked, position 2, front locked, position 3, both locked, how would I do this with this radio?
You forgot to mention that it has a inbuilt gyro in the receiver plus the ability to fine tune it, most radios that do have some sort of AVC (gyro) just have the ability to turn it on or off or maybe a dial to turn it up or down, normally only really high end radios have the option of fine tuning the gyro and that makes a massive difference on how much a gyro can actually do.
Channel 3 is a single click button. Channel 4 is a 3 position switch. Channel 5 is a knob. Channel 6 is a knob. The knobs have a neutral position then a + and - range.
After watching your video, I purchased the FlySky FS-GT5, nice review, thank you. The range on the radio I have is very, very bad. I'm lucky to get my truck out to 100 feet. I'm at a loss as to what might be the problem. Is there anything you can think of that may be an issue? Thanks for any help you may provide.
Long time channel subscriber and just noticed you use an Olympus camera for filming. Am I correct? I use it too and just keep wondering whether to upgrade, but looks like it is more than enough. Was wondering what exact model you use. Cheers
I have a TRX 4. Can you assign cruise control to the GT5? Cause that has a set button on my traxxas radio and uses the multiknob function. How would that translate to the GT5? Thanks
Hi the I purchased this Gt5 , I am new to the hobby, the thing is I have no idea to calibrate this GT5 to my rc crawler, it would be great I you had a video to show a basic calibration for a crowler, thanks
the gt5 is awesome because of the 4ws. but the best use of gt5 is the servo knobs. so you can independently steer the rear while steering the front at the same time. not a lot of transmitters have knobs so easily accessible
can you program the throttle rate to one of the dials up top? the channel dials? i love a remote where i can control the throttle sensitivity with a turn dial on the go without menue scrolling
Great video as always. I think this will be my next upgrade for my rig so I can control the winch and lights remotely. What was the yellow bodied crawler at the end of the video please? I would like one of those bodies.
I have this radio for over a year. I don't remember the instruction manual saying that the 3 LEDs below the screen are a battery indicator. Are you sure they indicate the battery level? P.s. you can change the color of the LED lights by holding the "back" button and scrolling with the knob. I kept the light off this whole time to preserve the battery... :D
Thanx, I ordered the radio based on this review at banggood. Got it today, and I must say, it feels good. I'm curious what the effect of the AVC will be on my Slash 2WD.
good video as usual. what do you think about a video with Redcat Gen 8 standard and the new Axe on same track to show the differences between the two models? Ciao Nanni
That is a pretty good idea. Only difference though is on modulation and spots were massive steering power is needed. Other than that, they're identical. Same drivetrain, suspension body weight and torque and speed.
