Thanks to my friend, I was able to attend the premiere and screening for Avatar: The Last Airbender! It was such a cool experience being excited with so many fans and meeting the cast as they arrived at the theater :)!
In this video I'll show pictures and short footage I took at the red carpet and talk about my experience. I'll also have a mini review of episode 1!
We're less than a week away from the release on Netflix, and I'm so excited to watch the rest of the episodes :D!

Its so frustrating how this live action adaption get so much unnecessary hate without watching the show 1st and based their hate on a clip and headlines like i just saw on Twitter & tiktok that they're accusing the people who reviewed this show and praise it are paid by Netflix and i was like man im so done with them🤦♂️
I’m so glad I don’t have Tik Tok or Twitter hahaha 😅! People just need to watch the show themselves before they decide to hate on it! I’ve already seen a RUclipsr who was veryyy skeptical about it months ago, and after seeing the premiere he took back his words and admitted it was a good 1st episode 😁

Never base your take on anything off of someone going to a premiere. That is a whole different experience and environment that heavily influences their time.
@@Ronfost89 oh I don’t want to come off as biased! Of course the atmosphere in a theater full of Avatar fans helped with the excitement! But it wasn’t perfect, and I did have some things I was sad about in episode 1 of how certain scenes weren’t included, but I also do understand why it was done. I also mention how pacing might be iffy with OG fans 😬!
But I do agree with you that people should definitely be careful with others opinions (good or bad) about the show and wait until they see it for themselves 🙃

Omg, Gran Gran’s outfit was so beautiful! I love that it paid homage to her Native American heritage and had a a little Gran Gran image 😊

If it's 1:1 adaptation, like copy and paste, it would've been boring, like it's an adaptation, a little changes are made, and also add scenes that weren't from the original, just like how HBO did with The Last of Us

I loved Aang and Sokka’s interaction! I just remembered one of the lines where Aang kept on repeating to Sokka cuz he wasn’t sure if he understood him 😂

I was hoping for this line too & I was a little sad we didn’t get it, BUT all of the Zuko/Aang interaction between Omashu & the Masks episodes made up for it.
Thank you for pointing out for people NOT to expect this to be exactly like the Original and that if they want to see the original, that they should go Watch the Original! I have stated on other videos that they shouldn't expect this to be exactly like the original but to view it as its own show, separate from the original.
Also, About Sokka! Thank you Thank you Thank you for pointing out his leadership roll! I have seen so many people blowing up or upset about them apparently "taking out Sokka's sexism," or toning it down. My thoughts have been that they are probably concentrating more on his character growth as a non-bending warrior and his growth as a leader among all of the benders during a war.
I cannot wait to see this, now! Thank you, again! ❤
Yess exactly! I never expected for the live action to be 1:1 of the original. I love that they’re adding things for character development! It will feel new and exciting for fans of the original! I do admit that the pacing felt a little rushed, but I kind of expect that for episode 1. They DID have to show the genocide as well as the main points of the first 3 episodes into this 1 hour long episode 😬 So I definitely understand why it had to be done lol.
And yesss, about having them focus on Sokka’s leadership! That’s one of his character arcs, as well as being a non-bending warrior. I can see him in later episodes coming off as arrogant as he tries to lead and take charge but then feels inferior as a non-bender. Him and Suki can share that together and it would be more impactful for their relationship. He’s just trying to be strong for his family since their dad left, and maybe his over-protectiveness will be a problem 😬 that’s how I see them “redirecting” the sexism!

3:14 I loved all the details on her blue watertribe dress. It was so beautiful and gorgeous. I also noticed on her dress it had the 4 elements on it. Water. Earth. Fire. Air. An I think (I could be wrong) her dress also had a white lotus symbol on it. Which is so cool to incorporate that in her dress.

I have a feeling they won’t have Aang waterbend on Zuko’s ship. In the original animation it was a tool used to help the viewer understand that the avatar could bend not just one element. In the live action, I expect they will make it obvious that he hasn’t had any training in any other bending yet.
That’s a good theory! Albert Kim did say in an interview that Aang will go into the Avatar state less frequently compared to the original 👍🏼

I actually got it from Amazon! I searched up “Appa bucket hat” ☺️! It fits many sized heads cuz you can tighten it in the back. But my head is so big so I didn’t have to do that lol

I'm curious about the depiction of the Southern Water Tribe:
Are there other elderly people besides Gran Gran?
How many people are there?
How big ist the village?
What is their architecture like? (I've seen Bones in the promos)
Does my boy Sokka have the wolf tail of a real warrior?
I think I did see some more adults in the Southern Water Tribe but elderly… maybe it was just Gran Gran!
There’s a lot more than what was shown in the original! It’s like a small village. If I were to guess, the population looked like it could be around 90-100 haha.
Lots of igloo looking homes, I think there’s the center with a bigger building that looks like it was made with whale bones! It looks like the main community center.
I believe he has the wolf tail! It doesn’t stick out too much but it’s more slicked back ☺️

Thank you!! Yeah, I’m glad I’ve been seeing so many positive reviews! I feel like the rest of the episodes will only get better after the 1st one. Because the first episode may feel kind of rushed since they have to establish the conflict and the main character 😅
Pretty random question but what is the aspect ratio of this show. Is it just 16:9 like on the tv, or is 21:9 like in the movies with black bars. And if it was shown in a 16:9 aspect ratio did they add those unnecessary black bars to it??😅

I've seen everyone saying "don't expect a 1:1 adaptation" and that does worry me a little. It would be fine if things are a bit different, but I was expecting atleast some 1:1 content and I am starting to think that's not gonna be the case. Idk, as long as they don't change the story and lore, I'll accept it, but the "Halo" TV show is also airing again and my god is it a dumpsterfire. Idk, I just don't want another childhood franchise of mine ruined
There’s still good enough content that is pulled straight out of the original ☺️! The added scenes in the opening were the biggest differences. But they still go through the main points of the first 3 episodes (in the original) in episode 1☺️

Yeah no I found that one detail weird. The air nomads should be caught off guard and it should be a one-sided massacre. But the air nomads fighting back makes it seem like more of an even conflict.
I think it was confirmed in an interview with Albert Kim breaking down one of the trailers that the genocide was in episode 1 lol. I’ll just say this, they tried to fight back, but they were definitely caught off guard and ambushed 🙃
i mean realistically if you were getting ambushed you would try to fight back, specially if you can fight and bend :)
Why would they not fight back? The Fire Nation came to their temples and started murdering them. Even peaceful people who don't like and don't seek out violence would at the very least defend themselves.
Them fighting back doesn't change anything about the fact that they were attacked out of the blue and mercilessly slaughtered. There are no perfect victims.

There were dead skeletons of fire nation soldiers in the cartoon.

Lol 😅 Well, I think I understand where the “sexism” got redirected to. So Sokka doesn’t specifically say anything sexist to Katara. But he does tell her that she needs to stop trying to waterbend and help out in the village (aka clean, cook, etc) he doesn’t want her to fight because he is trying to protect her.
It may come off as him being sexist… but not in your face “be a woman and wash my clothes” LOL. I can see him making more comments that are out of line in the upcoming episodes though 🙂
@@TofuReacts but regardless - they’re going to be hypersensitive about showing any form of sexism or but they’re going to show air nomads getting slain and killed and allow us to hear their screams.
