Hi Chris... The "pug-a-das" like you called them are:... the line came up with the name "Echo's" It's something I messed around with in some solo work... The line liked them so I put them in the book... The line originally wanted to call them "Scojo's Squirts) I said NO !!! :-)
@@christopherparker8477 yep thats exactly what my dad taught me when he taught me how to play guitar What he actually did was much more than that He taught me how to teach myself, he also stressed that you have to play it slow enough that you play it perfect, speed comes with repetition
One of those guys in there, Brandon Olander, I’ve met last year. Not blue devils related but we are both in bands and we played at this venue one night and he was so nice! Complimented my playing as a fellow drummer. Made me feel honored hearing him say that to me when later I found out who he was. His band’s name is “Droll” check em out when you can🔥😼
Easily my favorite percussion channel at the moment! There's just something special about watching people learn music and make mistakes along the way. It makes you realize the amount of that goes into it. Keep up the great work!!!
used to watch this exact video with my aunt the blue devils always had a killer drumline but i was always big fans of phantom regiment and the blue stars shows. was also lucky enough to get into a cadets practice while they were doing the between angels and demons show. that was fun my uncle got me in and i got to march on the field next to the drumline during it
I love your channel man! The way you react at first to seeing the videos of the music is so relatable, it reminds me of when I first approach music. Sometimes if something seems hard I at first think I can’t do this but then by breaking it down I start to get the hang of it. You really make learning and breaking down DCI Drumline music a really fun and humble experience for all percussionist from beginners to experts
Another sick video!! Keep it going! I challenge you to write the SCV 2014 snare break because it’s one of (if not) the beefiest snare break I’ve ever seen
Dude, you are sick. I marched and it’s not the ability to play it that is most impressive, although that is , but learning it in 12 min? Madman . Nice job , you got another subscriber on me.
HOW DID I MISS THIS?! I swear youtube sucks at showing me content from the channels I subscribe to. This is awesome man! You killed it dude! Crazy that you learned it in 12 min too! Stellar work my dudes! :^)
Found you today, second video I’ve watched and I love seeing how you take a piece of lit, and break it down. Funny how mastery of fundamentals changes your approach to new music. Wish I had taken that to heart when I was more seriously pursing music
Please do BK 2019!! Just found this channel yesterday and subscribed immediately!! I’m in colorguard and marched bk in 2019 but always admired the percussion and their musicality :)
Love DCI.... recently I saw a video of Bluecoats 2019 Full Show Finals - Learn the beats (multi-cam) with sheet music....thought you could definitely pull it off.
Love it man! Do you think you could cut out the background music while you play? Could be just me, but it a little distracting, and I lose the meter while listening to you. Killer job and sick chops!’
Bro so weird thing, I subscribed yesterday and now I'm watching this video and wondering what is this weirddd feeling I'm feeling, I'm scrolling the comments for answers only to realize you posted this video on my birthday. Crazy if you ask me. I make beats man, I'd love some snare loops. I appreciate this channel and your skill.
I been practicing for a while know but when I play the snare my Rhythm is different from y’all when I play the snare in I can’t remember it so good like yall do
Pro tip from a brass player: memorization of sheet music and recognizing patterns is a skill, the longer you work on it, the easier it will come to you. Keep on grindin!
Hey, love your stuff, sub-ed!! Can i just say, as a nonmusical person, i can follow it better when you go back and forth between hearing each sequence they play and you figuring it out. All love though, either way!
It is the cali water and sun... maybe you should bring that #thighgang out of Georgia. This is actually impressive 👏 I have never been so interested in drumming as I have played wind instruments all my life.
Not sure why so much footage was fast forwarded through, the video ended up only being 16min long. But 20min is the length you should be aiming for, seems to be what the algorithm likes
Hey brother, this stuff is awesome content! However as being as straight forward as possible, the editing is great. But the music in the background threw me off a little trying to focus on what we were talking about. Amazing job! just subbed!
All judges are biased towards BD. Too bad for them SCV is so good they have no choice but to give SCV the trophy almost every f------- YEAR!!!!! Still though, I love BD.
Maybe don't have the beat-heavy music playing so forward in the mix. It makes it harder to hear the subdivisions of what he's playing. Great vid otherwise!

Wow who knew!! Thanks for checking it out, hopefully we did it justice! haha
Thank you! I'll have to work on them more in my free time, improvements can be made
@Scott Johnson Mind if I start using that name, Echo’s?
Yooo SCO JO!
@@edhiedwardmusic820 of course I don't mind... I don't own the word echo. :-)
That was awesome to watch! you definitely killed it 💙
Yo thanks man! Appreciate the help!

Its different when your tryna learn somn for fun as a challenge. It improves your sight reading if you do it every not and then, but not everytime
Scott Johnson is amazing at what he does for the Blue Devils.
I just found this channel yesterday and holy crap I’m impressed
Doin our best! It takes a ton of work in the beginning, so any help spreading the word is appreciated 😁

Former blue devil snare here. Marched for 8 years. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
You marched bd for 8 years?
@@ghostlight1868 BDC 4 years BDB 4 years. Yes
Sorry if that was misleading lol
This is too dope too watch!!! 🔥
Amazing job! You nailed it!
Nice job, guys! Good consistency between videos.
I don't play the drums, I don't want to play the drums. But this guy is mind boggling to me.
Great video! One I'd like to see is the Cadets 2015 "waltz" drum break. Just because it was fun, coming from someone in the horn-line.
Your really good bro I miss playing snare bass drum and quads in high school lol

dude, this was so good! major props
4:13 he plays as the exact BPM as the background music and its sick 😂
Ghostlight was 2019. Dreams and Nighthawks (2018) was the show this snare break was from
Man the blue devils are just like that fr🔥😂
Not ghostlight. This show was Dreams & Nighthawks
Oh you right! Good catch
You were spot on with that you joined the crab ppl. Lol south park ref
Goddamn, what a show!!!

Sight reading, aka Fright Reading but noooo... This guy makes RUclips videos about it... RUN!!!
Could you play Jackson Sate University War and Thunder “chop not slop” snare part to the cadence ?

11-12 PR and McM 13-14!

not his fault big guy why don't you appreciate the clean beats

Anyone else find the beat over the drumming distracting?
Yes haha, good catch! We've fixed that in future videos, learning as we go!
i learned this in 5min then played it at 1.25 speed . Im have hybrid a.i. tech synthesis protocol syndrome
When in the zone, you're gone *~.~
California? I thought Duke was in North Carolina. 🤔
Fair confusion. Not Duke University, the Blue Devils in the video are a DCI drum corps in California.
WHEN you do a long run, cut out the ambient music. I’d rather hear the long drum patterns w/ out the low music for the video.

What's with dumb Dance music in the background ??? Are we at a danece ?????
