One of your finest songs. The Palms Playhouse in Davis is gone 20 years now but I remember you singing this song there and the prescient Houses in the Fields a very long time ago and it has remained a happy memory for me.
John is a pillar in my life. His music defines my years from the early 90's to now. Seeing him live in Bethlehem many times was magical. One show a group that was unknown to me , Harrod and Funck, opened for him. It was such an incredible show. It was Mid 90ish. I've never forgot it. I never knew Stan Rogers played there in 1982. Truly a historical place. I play/sing a lot of johns music to this day. Jack's Crows is my favorite album.
Hearing this song reminds me of a quiet girl I managed to find a way through her silence. We were always comfortable spending time together, even if we were talking much. Sometimes, I couldn't get her to shut up - and I enjoyed every minute of it. She is "far away" now, spending her time with another, but I still cherish the memory of the time I shared with her. This wonderful song gives me a soundtrack of those memories and of that time. Thanks John!
So many memories tied to your music. I opened for you around '97 when I had released my second CD. Remember CD's? Raoul's Roadside Attraction in Portland, ME. You were gracious, kind, and just what this fan had hoped for. After getting married and having kids brought the family to see you when you came to Maine (Northeast Folk Festival, The Grand (Ellsworth)...etc.). Thank you, thank you... thank you. For being the soundtrack to the most important chapters in my life.
One of my favorites of yours! Been a fan forever! I saw you at The Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pa (1992?) and called out “Thoughtless Behavior” and you played it! My favorite song of yours and would LOVE to see you do it again!!
Powerful song with layered meanings and symbols. Reminded me a bit of Jonah and the whale except when that happens to me I’m left with nothing but the sound of broken bones or heart!
You should have saved this one for April 1st, and released it (initially) without audio. :-) Beyond that, it's a beautiful solo acoustic version of your song. I don't recall ever hearing you do it at any of the 3-4 live shows of yours I've been to. Nice!

This song changed my life! Thank you John Gorka for giving me happiness with your music. I know is the best!
The triple threat of Singing - songwriting - playing. Hopelessly gifted!
Great song. What a beautiful example of word craft. Listening to this is like reading a very good story. Thanks

Me and my wife also, 25 years in Nov
This brings a lot of memories. Most of them good too. Thanks for sharing your wonderful music.
I can't keep making the same comment: the soundtrack of my life. Reminds me of Godfrey Daniels and visits to Bethlehem.
Thanks John. We used to see you at McCabe's in Santa Monica. The songs from this era brings back a lot of memories for us.
Love this song John. Thanks for sharing!
