@@usmanrehan8773 They are all-rounders, the problem is that people think all-rounders are good. Specializing in one thing and being great at it is better than being okay at everything. Unless you're playing a single-player, single-character game where the PC has to be able to do everything.

That's why all of their episodes are really good. They make you think one thing because of cliches but it always turns out to not be the case. 🤣
This exact thing happened in a campaign I'm running right now. The bard picked bagpipes for their instrument. The party was in a cave to rescue someone from a group of orcs. Bard plays bagpipes. In the cave. TPK.

Anytime my Bard rolls initiative, he strolls out to the center of the battlefield and announces the party like it’s a rock concert. Then he throws a dagger at the biggest enemy. God, I love playing bard!

I played a bard that was the only healer and only magic user in the group. Developed a huge drinking problem as bards are shit at both and everyone but him died many many times.

Skyrim is known for its warrior poets. Why, I've seen one wander around Skyrim with only a shirt, pants and sword. He refuses to teach speechcraft, but he can take on a troll fairly easily.

I love how the characters maintain their basic personality traits through the different series. It's like watching a group of eternal heroes, cursed to live the same lives over and over again through the ages. Maybe a caveman origin story in our future?

The hunting horn user in every monster hunter hunt is the best teammate you can ask for. He sing, he heal, he attack and he buffs.

Dunno about video games, but I have been a game master for 25+ years.
TWO campaigns (one for 2 1/2 years, one for 4 1/2 years) had bards that were the team leader. Both were AMAZING and the biggest thorn in my side as a GM.
To be fair, they were not the best fighters, but they used their abilities to great effect in aiding their companions and always held their own mano-a-mano.
Outside of combat - skill challenges, exploring, and role play - they CRUSHED!

New DnD character idea: Roll a Thief con artists who proclaims himself to be a bard to get out of fighting for the party.

I once knew a rogue who had an absolutely terrible dex score... but he had an 18 in Charisma. So he'd basically charm people into believing he wasn't stealing from them, stabbing them in the back, or sneaking through their camp to unlock the gates....

In the Pillars of Eternity 1 , bards were very strong, dealing unstopable nice damage, calling all kind of helpers from skeleton to dragon, nice buffing party, and all that infinite times during battles.
In NWN they can also cast healing spells, and play cursed song.
Finished pillars of eternity, literally only 1 game where that class werent uselles and yet still other classes offered more and in the middle of the game i stopped using the bard guy at all.
