I personally like the extended range of the D4S 65v2. Have been running 4 of them off of 500 watts each for a few years now. Very loud and clean sound. Thanks soo much for the comparison Mike keep it up.
The D4S 65v2 hasn't even been out for years yet I dont think, lol. Still a fairly new speaker. Arnolds that he's taking after have been around for a while though.

These are the old arnolds (second version released) in the comparison. Deaf Bonce have released many new versions since then. You ahould dona comparison with the new arnolds vs the d4s as the d4s are still a relatively new speaker. The ones in your video are the m60 v2 which are not even available on their website anymore.
The Arnold sounds more full down low but the vocal range on the D4S is crazy. I have a set of the d4s 65 v2's in my doors with a set of sundown coaxials paired with them in the same doors to round out the sound. Sounds incredible and loud as hell on around 120 watts a speaker.
This video, esp., @ the end show's/sound's the exact opposite of what you are saying. The D4s has deeper, slightly less punchy bass, vs the Arnold. And the vocal's, and midrange is more prominant on the Arnold's vs the D4s. Both are great speaker's, but im glad i seen this video, as i have custom enclosure's for a standard 6 1/2 inch speaker, and the D4s, would not fit, and im disabled, and paid alot of $ on custom enclosures, and dont want to pay to have them modified to fit the D4s. Plus this video showed/sound of Arnold's with great vocal, and mid's, will pair nicely with my powerful midbass speaker's.
I have D4S on my doors built onto custom mdf spacers. They were a nightmare to fit on a golf 4. There are connected to a JP23⁴ amp via a DM81O dsp. The gain of the amp is on zero. I set the range from 120hz to 8khz. I have PIEZO tweeters x 4 per channel = 16 set between 4kz to 20kz in total with a Sony XM-N1004 driving the tweeters at 4ohm 100w resistors which I am drop to 1ohm 200w as the tweeters need more sound. The speakers are way louder than the tweeters. It doesnt do mid bass as well as I like but I will put in Solo Baric 12s which will cover up.
To me it sounds like the d4s speakers are louder. I also run d4s speakers in my ride too. Right now I run the 2 USMC's in each door but I just purchased the hexicone pro's 😊
I like what you are trying to do.. i appreciated the effort you put into your set up and presentation. My only issue is your spacer on the one woofer.. make a spacer for the other so that both enclosures are identical. I would also use a dual mono amplifier, and an identical signal to each side. Equal enclosure, equal signal fair comparison. thank you for your time sir
Arnolds by far are richer and fuller in sound, the clarity and range of the Arnold's surpass the JP. the JP aren't bad but the choice for me is obvious
Hey Mike, still enjoying your videos, you've done a lot since you first started to improve how people can see the difference in tones and sound even though you could get a good idea of what timber of sound suits you and bang for buck from your old videos, still wanted to compliment you on how you're doing it now just say the videos have always been great and entertaining even when not in the market for new speakers. Also love that song you used too the first one in this video, I'd never heard it before and now it's part of my library lol thanks shazam and Spotify and of course Mike 😊

These d4s 65 v2's are absolutely worth the $150. Clean, great midbass, and take power like champs. I ordered recones, and they aren't needed. These are taking the full brunt of a Rockford power series T-3002 that's on mid range duty only, in an active setup, well over twice the rated, clean power. Take it like champs, and very clean. Unbelievable value, and I can't say enough about the quality sound top to bottom, and the volume they produce. If you're on the fence, just do it and then thank yourself later for pulling the trigger. One downside, it's an oversized 6.5 driver, you'll need to clearance the opening a bit. About 1/4" around.
The VO-XN trash I had 4 of them on my sierra 8” and were garbage replaced them with 6.5 Sylvester’s night to day difference. Sylvester’s are taking more power than the digital designs . They are not clear would highly not recommend compared to price a lot of better on market
What's up Mike! I got a package from the Mafia! 😂 I ordered the d4s 65 v2 last week. Im NOT a fan of JP, but these are awesome, AND... The most important selling feature for me personally. Recones. I almost went arnolds, but these are close enough, midbass is on point, and play much higher, lower and louder than the orion neo xtr I was running. These are much much louder than the neo orion xtr's. They sound much better too, smoother, yet louder somehow. I wouldnt give credit if it wasnt true, but these deserve a look if you want a serious midrange, for a good orice, with extended frequency in both directions. Did I mention recones? I have those already too, I'll definitely be power testing these. I'm ready when I launch mids now! Never reconed a midrange/midbasd driver. Looks crazy easy. For the record, I measured the voice coil at 1.5" on a kapton former. The Orion's were nearly identical in diameter and winding length. Not sure if they will handle the excessive power I have on tap better in peaks, but the ultra fat ass and thermal mass on these d4s units shoukd keep pulling heat off the coil much longer during extended demo sessions. Thats how I killed the orion's, so we'll see what these do after some seriously heaavy testing. Thanks for these videos, you saved me $ last time, and saved me a couple hundred plus yet again, while getting a superior product. Wouldnt have been possible without these vids. Very impressed with the d4s unit. Dint sleep on these out there! JP did us audio junkies super solid on these. I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true. Thank you for this comparison video. I purchased a pair of D4S 65 v2 speakers, a pair of Pioneer TS-B401Pro tweeters and a D4S JP84 amplifier for a chuchero box. It's setup for 4ohm 4 channel 90w RMS and it's loud and clear. I'm not certain about the setup because I can run bridged 2 channel 180 - 284w RMS w separate channels for mids/highs. I should test it in bridged mode to hear the difference because I just may prefer the 2 channel setup. Does anyone have any setup suggestions for this chuchero box? I'm in the process of routing the power cables this weekend. I've ran them along the frame and I'm not sure where to enter the cabin yet. It's simply too difficult to tear apart the interior to run these stiff power cables. I'm also wondering where to route the RCA cables. I'm getting there though. It's slow going since it's been so hot.
@@LIFEINSPEED hey Mike!! Can we also do a neo vs ferrite, direct comparison? Arnold neo vs Arnold ferrite? I blew out one of many Orion neo xtr's that I bought after watching and using your reviews a couple years ago. Time to upgrade for this season, and wondering if neo is truly worth the extra money. Is neo used for it's sonic ability, or is it mainly for size constraints to fit more standard locations. I'm after pure sonic performance on big power for sustained use. I have 500 watts rms a channel each available to these, and thinking the large ferrite motor will take the power longer and keep the coil cooler during long demo sessions. The neo xtr's took power well, but during sustained use, the motors got hot and the coil eventually burned out. I run them right to the limit! Not sure how I hear anything, but I still do and need more! Thanks for all you do brother, we ALL greatly appreciate your efforts.
